Liz Truss urges official withdrawal from Stonewall diversity scheme

Sorry, I don't have a share token but www.thetimes.co.uk/article/liz-truss-urges-official-withdrawal-from-stonewall-diversity-scheme-9df7pvsrn

Basically, Liz Truss "is pushing for all government departments to withdraw from Stonewall’s employment scheme following a row over transgender rights." because "she shared the concerns raised by the EHRC over the scheme’s value for money, particularly as the civil service has its own in-house workplace diversity programme."

Whether or not the reasons stated are true (I have my doubts) this is a good thing!

"The report expressed concern that Stonewall had misrepresented the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to suggest that the legislation included “gender identity”. Academics have claimed that the alleged misrepresentation has resulted in speakers being prevented from debating trans rights."

This is good.

PandorasMailbox · 31/05/2021 07:36

Tick tock....

rogdmum · 31/05/2021 07:38

And they just spent all that money on a rebrand as well. 😢

😈

LizzieSiddal · 31/05/2021 07:44

Bloody hell that is fantastic!!

And I agree with this
I think this all started with women on here FWR, from Grassroots women's rights groups that started with posters finding out about injustices on FWR here, to thousands of determined women taking action publicly or behind the scenes.

Us pesky “TERFs” through sheer determination to protect women and girls, have done it! We’ve had to spend our valuable time fighting this monstrosity of an organisation, raising money, sending letters, emails, etc etc etc only to be called disgraceful names and receive terrible threats and for some lose their jobs! Congrats to us all, it’s not over yet but we are making others see what we can see.

FlowersStarGin to everyone.

CaveMum · 31/05/2021 07:45

Fabulous news! Time to start leaning on the Dept of Education to say the same about schools.

ScreamingMeMe · 31/05/2021 07:46
Shock
Sexnotgender · 31/05/2021 07:48

What excellent news to wake up to! Well done Liz Flowers

Stonewall surely must be on a shoogly peg now?

I’d LOVE to be a fly on the wall right now 😂

Tibtom · 31/05/2021 07:48

I do think stonewall should have been referred to as 'transgender lobby group' rather than 'equality group'. They are not interested in equality.

Also shame the Times didn't check out the foi and see just how many staff hours are needed on top of those fees.

Cuntryhouse · 31/05/2021 07:51

Yes it is definitely a trans lobby group. It should just come out and say that, but I guess it's credibility comes from it's success with LGB, and it trades on that.

Cuntryhouse · 31/05/2021 07:52

Does this mean I can look forward to not being permanently angry?

Leafstamp · 31/05/2021 07:57

@Cuntryhouse

Does this mean I can look forward to not being permanently angry?
There’ll be something else to be angry about after Stonewall fall. Sigh.

But yes, it will help anger levels are spur us on.

I think some part of this can be attributed to all those letters we have written to MPs, and government organisations. They’ll have noticed a theme and Liz Truss knows the public are behind her on this.

Interestingly, Penny Mordaunt's brother was engaged to a certain TWAW spouting David Paisley (aka man at bus stop).

IvySquirrel · 31/05/2021 07:57

So chuffed to hear this!
Time is running out for Stonewall....

Excellent news.

Now, more of the same for the groups in Scotland, including LGBT Youth Scotland, Scottish Trans Alliance (and the other one that pretends is a different organisation and receives double funding from the Scottish government). They all meet up and collude with each other in their official submissions to government, obtaining money from schools and businesses to teach them rightthink and behaving like a protection racket.

Public Inquiry needed, and it will need to be announced by the Tories as Nicola Sturgeon sure as hell won't.

It's a dangerous time for Scotland right now, as the SNP might well push gender Self ID through quickly to prove they are not like the nasty meanies in Westminster.

Nonmaquillee · 31/05/2021 08:01

Absolutely brilliant news. Go Liz!!

I would agree with this too.

I came onto the Feminism board a few years ago to see what all this was about. To be honest it confused the hell out of me and I thought it was a bit tin-foil-hat.
However I came back here about 2 years ago and really started reading and reading. FWR has been a constant source of knowledge, grassroots campaigning and intelligent discussion.

endofthelinefinally · 31/05/2021 08:04

I have friends and family who steadfastly refuse to believe any of this has been happening. They don't want to know and maintain they are too busy, or it doesn't affect them.
They will never know how hard other women have fought for them and how many sacrifices have been made.

WheeshtYerMansplaining · 31/05/2021 08:08

@PandorasMailbox

Lots of good comments under the article. People really have had enough.

Stonewall is a lobby group that campaigns to: remove single-sex spaces and resources from Equality Act 2010; promote self-ID with no safeguards; remove the spousal exit clause from GRA04; remove the rape by deception offence; and to redefine same-sex attraction as same-gender attraction, all while promoting a culture of silencing women who disagree with these stances. And they are paid hundreds of thousands of pounds by organisations whilst promulgating these ideas. How they have become so entrenched in our official bodies whilst actively undermining legal protections for women and LGB people and facilitating the notion that conformity to sexist stereotypes is in any way “progressive” is beyond me.

That's a great comment.

As is,

There should be a public inquiry into how Stonewall was able to infiltrate these public bodies and many others so easily, and use them in a way that resulted in real detriments to women, girls and to free speech

PatsArrow · 31/05/2021 08:10

Agreed endofthelinefinally. This has been an all-out huge assault on Women's rights. Our house has been burning. It's a war. If and when Stonewall finally fall and we begin to see the beginning of the end of this, most people will be unaware that anything happened at all.

StealthPolarBear · 31/05/2021 08:13

Brilliant

I hope so. Hopefully government / public orgs will wake up and realise that paying lobby groups to lobby you is kind of an odd thing to do...
ArabellaScott · 31/05/2021 08:15

Agree.

We need an enquiry, and orgs will need retraining to clarify instances where they've misrepresented the law. Hoping that there is someone who can advise on diversity and the EA, etc, who is inclusive of women? If not, someone write a training pack, stat.
