Liz Truss urges official withdrawal from Stonewall diversity scheme

Sorry, I don't have a share token but www.thetimes.co.uk/article/liz-truss-urges-official-withdrawal-from-stonewall-diversity-scheme-9df7pvsrn

Basically, Liz Truss "is pushing for all government departments to withdraw from Stonewall’s employment scheme following a row over transgender rights." because "she shared the concerns raised by the EHRC over the scheme’s value for money, particularly as the civil service has its own in-house workplace diversity programme."

Whether or not the reasons stated are true (I have my doubts) this is a good thing!

Bravo, bravo, bravo to Liz!!!

I am desperate for a “women have vaginas, Nick” t-shirt/badge/key ring/tote!

Also this is good from the Mail article in particular: “Ms Forstater lost her job over her comments on social media that 'biological sex was real' and that men could not transition to become women.”

Very clear here that it is not “hate speech” that Maya was penalised for (the ubiquitous slur”) - but common sense reality.

JustcameoutGC · 31/05/2021 13:03

Have you seen the responses on his tweet. Vast majority saying SW are nut jobs. There so needs to be a public enquiry about organisational capture. Baroness Nicholson has been talking about one for a while. Hopefully this will be the final push needed to justify it.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 31/05/2021 13:04

And I am DEFINITELY emailing my splinters-up-his-arse-nothing-to-see-here old school Tory MP.

Only takes a minute to email your MP and ask her or him to express their support for Liz Truss.

Neither Stonewall nor Nancy Kelley have tweeted anything yet- their crisis PR management is pretty rubbish. I’d love to be a fly on the wall round about now .

ArabellaScott · 31/05/2021 13:44

@Thingybob

The government is now declaring war on *@stonewalluk*

Oh dear Owen.

Hysteria, eh? Aye, DVLA well known for their 'hysterical' stance.

Away and learn some new hyperbole, Owen.

Ha have been waiting to see what OJ was going to come out with. He doesn’t disappoint does he.

I think one of these days OJ is going to literally explode. I do hope to be around to see it. Steam is already coming out of his ears.

They are trying to decide which approach worked best recently, the 'u OK hun' tweet or the interview likening GC to anti semitism. Which ever wins in a twitter poll they will run with.

To be fair to Nancy, who I think is woeful, much of this mess lies with Ruth hunt.

What? They haven't tweeted Liz "aww hun, you ok?"
PerkingFaintly · 31/05/2021 13:56

they're not set up for critical self reflection. They have co-opted every social justice narrative going & are in constant battle mode, unable to just stop the constant attacking of anyone who crosses their path.

This.

And probably all of TheShadowyFeminist's excellent post.

Ruth Hunt is in the House of Lords isn't she?

hysteria (n.)

nervous disease, 1801, coined in medical Latin as an abstract noun from Greek hystera "womb," from PIE udtero-, variant of udero- "abdomen, womb, stomach" (see uterus). Originally defined as a neurotic condition peculiar to women and thought to be caused by a dysfunction of the uterus. With abstract noun ending -ia. General sense of "unhealthy emotion or excitement" is by 1839.

FindTheTruth · 31/05/2021 14:18

TheShadowyFeminist's excellent post is more analytical and enlightening than most of the main stream media.

RoyalCorgi · 31/05/2021 14:23

They must be really shocked to discover that neither teenage-style petulance nor offensive comparisons to antisemitism brought the government round to their way of thinking.

Erinrose82 · 31/05/2021 14:41

Absolutely brilliant and long overdue.
Well done to us all!

EwwSprouts · 31/05/2021 14:56

Liz Truss speaking truth to powerful lobbyists is brilliant.

Voice0fReason · 31/05/2021 14:57

There is a very long way to go until women's rights are properly protected but this is a step in the right direction and seems to be gaining momentum.
Very, very good news.

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 31/05/2021 15:06

@Datun

There should be a public inquiry into how Stonewall was able to infiltrate these public bodies and many others so easily, and use them in a way that resulted in real detriments to women, girls and to free speech

Agreed. And now the spotlight needs turning on schools.

And local authorities
UppityPuppity · 31/05/2021 15:42

It's not just about their 'recent attitudes and behaviour', it's about government departments outsourcing their equalities policies and training to a lobby group. Lobby groups like Stonewall exist to fight for their own causes, not to advance equality for all. By signing up to their schemes, government departments have taken a side which effectively says that they believe that the protected characteristics which Stonewall lobbies for are more important than any other PCs. This is what is really unacceptable.

Yes - this is only the start.

Get rid of SW, but we have to also excise SW ideology and misapplication of equality law across society.

In for the long haul....
