This is why they like the TWAW chant, it isn't designed for understanding it's designed to confuse.

Gender critical feminists are frequently accused of not understanding the difference between sex and gender, or conflating sex and gender. Sex and gender are two separate things. So why would it be false or wrong to call trans women 'males'? Their sex is male, and their 'gender identity' is feminine.

You know the high pointy bit of a mountain, that word we’re not allowed to use on here… well this has pushed my DH over it and my teenage son too. DS was getting there a while ago, but this has catapulted him over it.

I’d actually love it if every single woman competing got together, and agreed that when it’s their turn to lift, they walk up to the weight, turn their back and walk off.

We don’t always know the names of the women and girls who miss out, many of them never get the chance to shine, or get the chance for us to learn their names, but when we do we should shout their names. There have only ever been 43 Tongans go to the Olympics, and Manumua can’t add herself to that list.

That's so sad. I've been to Tonga, the people are lovely and their lives are very simple compared to Aus and NZ.
So this would have been an even bigger deal for the woman that missed out than a woman from the mainland who missed out, if that makes sense.

That's just so upsetting. I know on a personal level how much of their life and their teenage/young adult years women and girls give to being dedicated to a sport and aiming for the top.

It's indescribably cruel.

Manumua is a woman of colour, coming from a developing nation (not sure of her financial background, so won’t comment on that, other than to say that other Pacific island lifters that I’m aware of very much do come from underprivileged backgrounds). Hubbard is a rich white person from a developed nation (as well as the blatant extra privilege Hubbard also enjoys).

How is intersectionality happening when the inclusion of Hubbard is “more inclusive” than the inclusion of Manumua? Trans athlete inclusion is better than WOC?

Do they not ever stop and think, hang on, this isn’t how this stuff is supposed to work, if women of colour still somehow end up getting pushed out?

Do their heads not explode trying to justify why a Y chromosome is still top trumps for everything?
