Not a surprise and hopefully it’ll open some eyes about the utter ridiculousness of allowing someone who is male to compete against women in weightlifting

Grand news for Nina.

As it should have been all along.

The snatch should always come before the jerk.

IwillhuffIwillpuffIwillblow · 25/06/2021 23:35

Nini

Sorry - autocorrect kicked in.

Ekofisk · 25/06/2021 23:40

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Hope Nini has time to train.

Bet she's fired up.

I've never watched weightlifting, but, I'll be tuning in!

She won’t have stopped training.

Whoever is pulling the strings has play a blinder in their choice of person to set the precedent - Hubbard is too old to be totally dominant so they can counter the TW will win hands down there is no point in women even turning up argument, it's a non contact sport so no danger of an embarrassing injury to a woman to try and explain away, the sport has weight categories so they can argue that unfairness isn't really unfair because it's not a 15 stone male bodied competitor against 8 stone women ( and no photo of tall, broad shouldered TW towering over much small female adversaries) and now no woman is missing out on competing so we can't even use that objection. The deed will be done, the protests nullified and the precedent set. We need to ensure that there is a fuss, that this doesn't become a test case that allows the flood gates to open. This is not right, it is not fair and I feel like we are being played.

Fantastic news for NIni! Wishing her every strength for a fantastic games.

The next lifter down the list is Parisa Jahanfekrian, who I think will still lose out, along with every single woman down the list, or who didn’t even make the list because of the IOC’s spinelessness in letting Hubbard bump them.

OhHolyJesus · 26/06/2021 08:27

Tracey Lambrechs' record has been broken by Hubbard. I'm ashamed to say I hadn't thought about this, being so focused on the upcoming Olympics, but important to remember the ones who went before, and how their achievements have also basically been stolen from them.

Thanks to Tracey, I bet she is fuming.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 26/06/2021 08:59

Yes, I wonder if it's deliberate that the 'test case' for this is 20 years older than the rest of the competitors...

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 26/06/2021 09:02

Here is a tweet from a TRA - liked and retweeted by people who no doubt also advocate for pubescent children to go onto puberty blockers and cross sex hormones. Because a 12 year old can totally understand the consequences of a lifetime of osteoporosis and muscle atrophy..... Hmm

I'm not sure they have achieved what they think they have with this tweet.

Oh dear. It is Miller. Of course it is.

Miller who was an elite male athlete in aquatic sport who says this yet has NO self awareness that they are proving a point. They block, ban and report anyone who points out that no 50+ woman could play women’s rugby with the young women. That Miller may have issues but they are still nothing like women suffering menopausal symptoms at that age. Plus, while suffering those symptoms they list, can STILL play rugby with much younger women without injury and obviously still keep up.

Their complete lack of self awareness is amazing to behold. Yet people believe them. Well, only people with a lack of critical thinking .

Ekofisk · 26/06/2021 10:43

Also, Miller (as a male) was competing in the Junior Worlds for Modern Pentathlon in 1981.

There was no women’s Worlds for Modern Pentathlon until 1981, and no Olympic event until 2000.

Are Millers health problems related to transmedication?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 26/06/2021 13:36

@Mollyollydolly

Good news for Nina. Did you all see the engagement map on Twitter. Proud to be on T* Island
The comments are heartening:

It genuinely does shine out like a beacon and it made me quite emotional - like the beacon fires for the Queen's Jubilee and the amazing scene in LOTR:
