Trans lesbian?

Timeforatincture · 26/04/2021 18:39

My first ever post on this board. Long time reader, and have found it highly educational. Thank you everyone.

There is a pullout in today's Guardian about influential lesbians. Cameos and longer pieces. One of the longer pieces is an interview with a "trans lesbian."

AIBUin thinking that's a bit odd?

@YellowFish12

Well lesbians here ARE educating YOU that they find lesbian-appropriation by men to be offensive. But you don’t want to hear them.
I am a lesbian. You are entitled to be offended but your views are not representative of the views of all, or even the majority of, lesbians.
Clarice99 · 19/06/2021 21:22

@sunavendi

*white not shute
How can you know the colour of someone's skin from the only info available being their username?
334bu · 19/06/2021 21:22

Transphobe" is not name calling.

Then neither is "Homophobe" Stop denying that lesbians are exclusively same sex attracted. Conversion therapy is wrong and hateful.

Datun · 19/06/2021 21:24

And I wish uneducated white people would stop asking that absolutely ridiculous, offensive question.

😂

When did I say homophobe was name calling? And when did I say anything about conversion therapy? I think it's absolutely terrible beyond words. You're making wild leaps here.

😂

Are you black?
Trevsadick · 19/06/2021 21:25

When have I verbally abused anyone?

You called lesbians bigots, transpires etc. Because they won't accept your entirely incorrect definition of lesbian.

And you have no idea, what the majority of lesbians feel. Again, it's been discussed why women feel uncomfortable sharing their feelings on this subject.

Why do you think you speak for the majority of lesbians and why do you think you can change the legal definitions of words and impose that on others?

sunavendi · 19/06/2021 21:25

If you took the time to read the posts properly then your question is answered.

What lesbians? The ones who go to a different school?

I am a lesbian. Why would I be calling myself a bigot or a transphobe? Not once have I said that lesbians are bigots nor transphobes. My saying that had absolutely nothing to do with anyone sexual orientation, I don't even know the orientation of the majority of posters on this thread!

Neither do you. You are also speaking for the majority of lesbians.

Nope. Not buying this.
I am simply looking for an analogy.
A white person trying to emulate a person of colour is offensive.
As a white person myself I will never totally understand what it is like to be black. But I do have some acknowledgement of the challenges that black people must have- present and historical. Because I am human, and I have empathy. I didn't choose my skin colour- no one does.
Can you not see the comparison?

I have read the posts.

Clearly you haven't as it's not just one person who's asked that particular question re: white person identifying as black, yet you chose to just jump on one poster and call them names.

A theme of yours.

Of course I can see the comparison, but it is not the same.

Not buying what? The fact that so many black people are tired of having to educate their white counterparts?

I'm sorry that you don't buy our experience.

What are the differences?

I refuse to repeat myself again. I am NOT going to educate you on this. Please do some research for yourself.
Trevsadick · 19/06/2021 21:33

No I am not. I pointed out earlier I am not.

Because you couldn't be bothered to read the thread, you don't know where I am speaking from.

At no point have I calumet the majority of lesbians agree with me.

Simple facts are the definition of lesbian doesn't include biological males. That's a fact.

If you are insisting it does and calling people bigoted, if they won't include men. YOU are being homophobic.

You can not change the definition of a word. You can not appropriated the label of a marginalised group.

Well you seem to think that same sex attracted Lesbian women should at least consider male transwomen as possible partners. That looks like conversion therapy to me! What was it people used to say that Lesbians need to make them straight...... ??? What was it againHmm

speakout · 19/06/2021 21:34

It is your argument that I am not buying- not your experience.
In fact I am defending your rights, your experience if you would back down a little you may see that.

I never said that!!!!!

My argument is my experience. Educating people as a black so man about matters they should be teaching themselves.
Clarice99 · 19/06/2021 21:36

@sunavendi

I refuse to repeat myself again

Here's the thing, you're not repeating yourself. You're not answering any questions in a coherent, logical fashion. You're just being defensive and in doing that, you're not providing ANY answers to any of the questions.

I'm still waiting for your answer to 'intents and purposes, biology aside, of a woman'.

I have tried to "educate" myself on this idea for a few years- I have not found any answers. I am guessing you don;'t have any either.
