LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

Is it really necessary for so many TRAs to wish painful death on people? Is it not possible to realise that different groups of people have different political interests, and all the melodramatic violence-wishing temper tantrums in the world don't change that?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/04/2021 13:22

I really wish MNHQ would let posts like that stand.

Emanchego · 20/04/2021 13:22

Wow, I hope people call the police on this Everish nutter 😮

Datun · 20/04/2021 13:22

It's Astonishing how supporting LGB people really has become something to target.

In bloody 2021.

Openly, with violent threats and vitriol.

It's quite unbelievable to someone like me who saw the fight for LGB legitimacy first hand.

Maduixa · 20/04/2021 13:23

Congratulations, LGBA! FlowersWineSmile

The open homophobia displayed in reaction to this - even here on this thread - proves how very much you're needed. Who could have predicted we'd still be fighting so hard in 2021 just to say "some people are same-sex attracted, get over it!" ??

ListeningQuietly · 20/04/2021 13:23

It would be lovely if MNHQ are brave enough to not remove ANY posts from this thread.

Helleofabore · 20/04/2021 13:24

So Evarish if MN is such a 'shithole', I can only assume you are saying 'fuck the lot of you' to MNHQ as well. Why do you continue to post here? Does the logic of our discussion points, articulated by knowledgable women prove to be irresistible?

Datun · 20/04/2021 13:24

I know LGB alliance don't need any more confirmation of being in the right, but I hope, sincerely, that the reaction to this fantastic news demonstrates to others the exact reasons why it is so desperately needed.

OhHolyJesus · 20/04/2021 13:25

Well we have screenshots...

Anyway, enough of the best wishes for our happy and fulfilling lives - here's to the LGB Alliance.

I'm so thrilled as you can only imagine the hoops they have had to jump through.

Don't report this post, let it stand

When someone shows you who they are believe them.

This. I’ve only ever seen someone wishing death on others once on mumsnet, and that post was it. Please let it stand. But just in case, I have a screen shot,

My irony meter just exploded.

Mine too Sunset, that quote from our kimono clad fox killer is just delicious in it's irony.

Bugger I missed the deleted post, but I am sure it was congratulating LGB Alliance and wishing all good things for them and posters on here. (a screenshot dm'd to me wouldn't go amiss)

R0wantrees · 20/04/2021 13:31

This is very good news for LGB people who, of course, should have such a charity representing them.
Its quite shocking to witness the reactions from some quarters, but very telling.

SunsetBeetch · 20/04/2021 13:32

Looks like I missed someone's true colours come shining through.

Lisz · 20/04/2021 13:33

My God, I wouldn’t trust these chinless little tools to tell me the right time. They’ve done nothing whatsoever for LGB people. That Malc bloke seems to be in a permanent rage 24/7.

It’s a shot in the foot as at least now they have people to answer to.

ListeningQuietly · 20/04/2021 13:34

Dear MNHQ
PLEASE could you reinstate those posts.
None of the rest of us were offended.
Showing that you support sanity is important.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 20/04/2021 13:34

Is it really necessary for so many TRAs to wish painful death on people?

Gives them a break from the rape threats.

How is it homophobic to support a charity whose aim is to uphold the rights and legal protections of sexual orientation of gay men and lesbians and for them to be able to assert that they are same sex attracted as defined in the equality act?

Homophobia is any male telling a lesbian that she is a bigot or a genital fetishist for not being attracted to males.

Of someone does send it to you I am afraid you will be horribly disappointed Grin
Mollyollydolly · 20/04/2021 13:36

It's shocking to see the homophobia - some of the replies to the Charity Commission tweet are awful. I never thought I'd see people being so openly homophobic in this day and age. The hatred and bile is off the scale. Never were LGB Alliance more needed.

SirSamuelVimes · 20/04/2021 13:36

Aww I missed the deleted post!

I agree, they should be left to stand (assuming it was what I think I was).

Well done LGB alliance, anyway. Great work, keep it up!

Aposterhasnoname · 20/04/2021 13:36

I can’t figure out how to attach photos to PMs otherwise I’d send it to those that missed it.

SpaceBatAngelDragon · 20/04/2021 13:37

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

The kimono clad fox killer speaks...

The consequence of this Panglossian stance on the activities of a hate group is that your taxes will now be used to subsidise transphobia.

This, I am afraid, is what regulatory capture looks like. The institutions of the state, which are supposed to serve a public purpose, come through party appointments to serve the political purposes of the government. Don't ask when it's happening: it's happening now.

Bloody hell, projecting much?

I only read a few, sickening and mainly from men, who appear to hate lesbians asserting their rights.
