Sisters uncut who are said to be a driving force in turning last nights gathering from a vigil to a protest are now protesting on behalf of “women murdered by the state”.

Two of these “women” are rapists who brutalised children.

How can anyone be ok with this?

I seen no 95 .Who is the other one ? I know OP , its very sick . Must be horrendous for their victims as well if they see that .

alexdgr8 · 15/03/2021 02:06

i don't understand this.
i can't read the extract.
they sound a dodgy gruop.

EsmaCannonball · 15/03/2021 02:10

I've just said on another thread that they are indistinguishable from extreme MRA groups. They don't want rapists and murderers to be arrested or imprisoned. They have nothing but aggression for women who disagree with them. I'd like to ask them:-

  1. What would you do with Sarah Everard's murderer?
  2. Violent and sexual crimes against women are nothing like crimes of acquisition and are not only perpetrated by men who are disadvantaged and disenfranchised. How would you stop men committing these crimes?
  3. If a man has already committed rape or murder and you have made him undertake 'community reparations', what will you do if he commits these crimes again (and again, and again.)
  4. Without at least the threat of imprisonment, do you think more men would commit rape and murder against women? What makes you think it won't be like the Fall of Berlin?
  5. On a scale of 1 to 10, how out of touch with the reality of the lives of women and working class people do you think you are?
WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 15/03/2021 02:12

On the plus side the majority of comments seem to be calling them out on it.

Porridgeoat · 15/03/2021 02:28

I feel so sad that this vigil has been highjacked, twisted and used for a political protest. It should have been a quiet vigil for sarah with reflection on women’s vulnerability. What was all the bloody evening drumming and chanting about? It monopolised an evening which didn’t need leading. Bloody awful for Sarah’s family and friends to observe. I felt so uncomfortable watching both the police and the protesters. A quiet candle lit vigil in the evening would have been respectful to sarah and would have resulted in no police intervention I’m sure

hoorayforharoldlloyd · 15/03/2021 07:04

I was there (not in support of sisters uncut). The drummer was just some bloke who took it upon himself to turn up. Saw him pissing against a tree as I left, easily able to be seen by any women in that area. Sums him up.

Floisme · 15/03/2021 07:36

The kindest thing I can say about them is that it's a fucking stupid thing to say about the police when the case hasn't even gone to trial yet. I assume they want the trial to go ahead?

Clymene · 15/03/2021 08:09

Number 91 in the list is Jade Eatough

www.lancs.live/news/local-news/violent-beast-jailed-for-life-1267831

Number 95 is Nicola Cope

web.archive.org/web/20150531080143/www.tamworthherald.co.uk/Sex-change-man-abused-young-girls-jailed-16-years/story-26584788-detail/story.html

These are men who raped and abused girls. No one should be mourning their deaths, least of all 'feminists'

SunsetBeetch · 15/03/2021 08:17

Here is another dubious one:

"One of these women, Michelle Pearce, died in prison of cancer. She was in prison because she stabbed her mum 30 times. This list is massively misleading."

twitter.com/Katie_Cronin/status/1371206908162494465?s=20

It might be useful to go through the whole list.

SunsetBeetch · 15/03/2021 08:19

There is a lot more wrong with Sisters Uncut. Would it be useful to have it all in one thread?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/03/2021 08:24

By "murdered by the state" they mean in the case of MTF trans people, killed themselves in prison.

One of the people they mention is Jenny Swift who killed a young man who was working in the garden where Swift was staying, in an incredibly brutal and unprovoked attack which a paramedic described as the worst stabbing attack he had ever seen. When the victim died a month after the attack Swift was charged with murder. It was at this point that Swift committed suicide.

Yes, clearly this person was troubled and had mental health problems, but frankly I'll save my sympathy for Eric Flanagan and his young family.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/03/2021 08:29

I assume they want the trial to go ahead?

I wouldn't necessarily assume that, given that they or people they associate with are likely to be "anti carceral" "feminists" and that they consider murderers who have killed themselves in prison to have been "murdered by the state".

NecessaryScene1 · 15/03/2021 08:31

Am I right in remembering that Sisters Uncut were supporting Maria McLachlan's attacker?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/03/2021 08:32

Yes. And were there at Speakers Corner, and gloated about it afterwards with a tweet saying they were "led by trans women".

TheRabbitOfCaerbannog · 15/03/2021 08:33

Anti-carceral feminism seems to be all the rage, even with people I'd previously viewed as sensible (I know Eva Wiseman is fully TWAW however).

I don't know much about the origins of this - assumed it was something to do with Queer theory so googled and came up with this chapter from Jane Clare Jones' phd thesis which I'll read when I have time, but I'm sure there are wiser heads than mine on FWR who know way more about it.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/03/2021 08:34

They seem to mean deaths in police or prison custody from all causes.
Including males who were jailed for a variety of very violent and/or sex crimes including child sex abuse (Cope's victims were little girls) is not exactly going to persuade many sane people that 'anti carceral feminism' is a good thing. It will just give men another 'mad feminists' stick to beat us with.

PegasusReturns · 15/03/2021 08:35

People are calling them out when they realise what they stand for. But thousands and thousands of women don’t know. 21,000 donated to reclaim these streets/ sisters uncut. They turned up to protests at Scotland Yard and parliament square on behalf of at least two male rapists who killed them selves.

Almost 9000 people liked a photo of their protest yesterday

Additionally at a meeting organised by
@WomansPlaceUK
Edinburgh which I attended, Sisters Uncut stood outside bashing pots and pans drowning out the voices of survivors of abuse and violence. They were invited to join the packed meeting to present their view but declined.

I see some brave souls on twitter are trying.

Thank you for that link - I’m doing a research project in carceral feminism atm and am looking forward to reading that later. Flowers

omg - these people are awful. I'm sorry I started another thread (Clapham Common) with footage of them. The optics were so misleading.
