So another brand proves that they’re not keen on women having thoughts

"We're just selling margarine. That's it. That's all. Politics nothing to do with us and our selling of margarine. (And we employ x thousands.... we don't interview on political purity to any one position, because that would be weird.)"

That would certainly be my stance. In the long run, it's much safer. Andrew/one of Andrew's friends (I forget which) is claiming that there are more trans people to buy margarine than "tfs". Firstly, unlikely, and secondly, businesses want everyone's money.

It is, by now, apparent that if you give an inch to this type of behaviour, they take a mile. Innocent Drinks follows over 31,000 people, and Andrew was trying to denounce the company that on the basis one of those 31k people may also hold GC views. (Which she might not have done at the time it followed her!)

That is such an exceedingly high standard of purity to demand.

Maybe the TRA are trying to starve us out.

@AbsintheFriends

Method and Ocado are on my boycott list too, if we're doing a round up.
Method? What did they do?
Mylittlepony374 · 29/01/2021 17:20

Shit. I buy 6 boxes of their smoothies for kids a week... only way to get veg /fruit into my super fussy toddler...going to have to find an alternative

MichelleofzeResistance · 29/01/2021 17:21

Well if it gets that bad, there will have been an absolute gold mine business proposition created for other sellers. An open goal.

Keeping everything crossed that major gin brands do not follow Innocent’s lead. 🤞
12frogsincoats · 29/01/2021 17:25

You lot will starve to death at this rate if you keep boycotting every company that ever dares support trans people.

Enidblyton1 · 29/01/2021 17:25

To be fair, Innocent Smoothies are SO packed with sugar, they probably shouldn’t be in anyone’s fridge anyway. I used to occasionally buy them for my children - then my friend (who worked at Innocent!) told me that most Innocent smoothies contain more sugar per 100gr than Coca Cola. My friend could take free smoothies, but never gave them to his own kids.

Unlikely.
PotholeParadies · 29/01/2021 17:27

Ocado tweeted something implying that one of Posie Parker's billboards was transphobic. The dictionary definition of woman one.

Unlikely. There's plenty of companies that keep out of these political debates. Quite rightly if they wish to hang on to their customers. I'll use those companies.
MichelleofzeResistance · 29/01/2021 17:27

You've either not read the tweet or missed the point entirely? Or believe that supporting trans people must involve hating on women?

PotholeParadies · 29/01/2021 17:28

I don't expect so.

Supporting trans people is fine. Maligning feminists and people with safeguarding concerns about children's welfare is less so.

The billboard that inspired Keira Bell and is a statement of truth???!!!!

Actually they are now in cahoots with M and S so they deserve each other.

Frogsincoats - I might starve - I’ll take my chances...

PotholeParadies · 29/01/2021 17:45

Quite possibly the same one. I don't know how many she put up.

I was still desperately trying to stay in the cult at the time, but it made me feel very conflicted. How could a dictionary entry be hatred? If that could be deemed provocative, then what wasn't offensive?

We always buy the supermarket version of them - dd knows no different
NoCureForLove · 29/01/2021 18:39

I hope Maggie reports it as a non crime hate incident. Innocent? More like guilty - of twattery..

TinyTroubleMaker · 29/01/2021 18:39

I wouldn't eat Flora if you paid me, yeuch. Butter all the way here, we get through several packs a week (and no chance of starving Grin)

Will find an Innocent alternative now, thanks for the Morrisons tip x

I'm with you in this tbh. Plus blended fruit loses most of its fibre. Better just to eat fruit.

Mylittlepony374 · 29/01/2021 18:49

Yes it's better to eat fruit. Yes smoothies are high sugar. But smoothies are an at-least-they're-getting-some-fruit-veg when my son only otherwise eats dry beige carbs. And occasionally peeled apple cut in a specific way. Not the point of the thread but just to say its not always as easy as just eat fruit

I know it can be difficult ❤️

Beamur · 29/01/2021 18:58

Why on earth do businesses do this? Did innocent even bother checking?
Co-op back tracked pretty quickly and wasn't it Yorkshire Tea who deflected with great humour.

There are a gazillion other smoothie brands - probably cheaper too.

I'm so glad I swithered about which one to get at lunchtime today and didn't pick Innocent. That's them boycotted now.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2021 19:23

There's something about their pious little haloed logo attached to their tweet which is quite irritating. Even at the best of times, there's nothing saintly about a smoothie - much healthier to just eat fruit.
