@Balhammom

News flash: No one in the real world cares. This board is an echo chamber.
And yet here you are. How did you find us?

I bet you came here from twitter, which is soooooo ironic.

Oh dear. Is that you Leftist Rage?
SunsetBeetch · 30/01/2021 14:30

More like Leftist Radge.

Their diversity policy is all over the shop, and apparently based on the belief that human rights = folksy language, bad grammar and vague sentiments about respect and being nice.

"We want to respect, support and look after people, especially the protected characteristics of race, disability, gender, LGBTQ+, mental health, religion, belief and age (or anything else that’s important to someone). This will always be the case whether they’re planning on working with us or just want to visit and pinch a smoothie from the fridge. That’s because we reckon it’s right to encourage everyone to be themselves and value the things that make them who they are."

"Getting it right on tax is all part of that responsibility to do business in the right way. We’re lucky that the team at Coca Cola is quite knowledgeable about tax, so if you would like to know more, please have a read of our Tax Policy here. And we’ll get back to making those drinks."

This reads like something that Bobby Newport would say on Parks and Rec.

Is there a thread that lists these companies?
Please can any of you share if there is one?

MichelleofzeResistance · 30/01/2021 15:02

Yes an ongoing list of who doesn't want female people's money and custom would be helpful.

merrymouse · 30/01/2021 15:13

Innocent arguing that their drinks aren't liable for VAT because they aren't beverages:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2010/nov/22/innocent-smoothies-challenge-vat-ruling

"It's crazy," said Innocent's founder and CEO, Richard Reed, today. "This ruling is definitely not in the interest of the nation's health. It's absurd that smoothies, which contain two portions of fruit and help people live more healthily are subject to VAT at full rate when junk food like burgers, chips and doughnuts are sold tax free."

However a recent report on food labelling said:

metro.co.uk/2020/07/29/ms-faces-criticism-misleading-percy-pigs-packaging-13052898/

"One of the most egregious sins of the modern food industry is its habit of clothing itself, and its products, in false virtue. ‘“No added sugar” is the boast on Innocent’s lemon and lime-flavoured Juicy Water – quite omitting to mention the eight teaspoons-worth of natural sugars from grapes and pears."

I legit spend £40+ on Innocent products a month. Not anymore.

HoxtonBonnet · 30/01/2021 15:38

Another one to add to the list. Still very annoyed about The Bodyshop -I loved their shower gels.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 30/01/2021 15:47

Unsurprisingly Coca Cola are stonewall champions

You need to buy a juicer. They are a horrible faff to clean but if you're spending that much....

You can also use fruit that's past its best- no one will know (I turn it into cakes)

Furx · 30/01/2021 16:16

That’s just fucking nuts. What if my true inner self is an arsehole. Or a serial killer. Or if I identify as a brain surgeon and I’ll totes kill myself if I can’t operate in order to validate my true inner essence.

This cult of the individual needs some serious sunlight.

merrymouse · 30/01/2021 16:44

This cult of the individual needs some serious sunlight.

Definitely.

The premise of human rights is that they are applicable to all regardless of whether an individual deserves respect, and that they relate to basics like right to an education, right to a fair trial, right to political representation.

Companies like innocent reduce them to a self help meme.

justanotherneighinparadise · 30/01/2021 16:48

Enjoyed that Twitter link 😀

HettieMills · 30/01/2021 17:00

If Innocent sent me a lot of smoothies the local food bank would benefit

I think they owe you a grovelling public apology, not a load of their unhealthy drinks. 😉

ArabellaScott · 30/01/2021 17:03

"We want to respect, support and look after people, especially the protected characteristics of race, disability, gender, LGBTQ+, mental health, religion, belief and age (or anything else that’s important to someone).

Not sex, I see. 'gender'. They've also made up some of those protected characteristics.

Also 'anything else that's important to someone' - what, anything?

The premise of human rights is that they are applicable to all regardless of whether an individual deserves respect, and that they relate to basics like right to an education, right to a fair trial, right to political representation.

Companies like innocent reduce them to a self help meme.

Yep. It's as meaningful as 'be yourself' or 'follow your dreams'.

LakeGeneva · 30/01/2021 17:23

We want to respect, support and look after people ...

...by giving them diabetes. Hurrah.

That's my joke! I say it at work when there is too much cakes and sweet stuff being given to us... the gift of diabetes.

SeaRabbit · 30/01/2021 22:21

Well I phoned to complain and they put the phone down on me. So I called back and am still waiting for the promised email or call. Humph.

Goodness they're childish little wankers. Perhaps we should deploy the tactics of the TRAs where they put a call out across the world and get everyone to ring them until they back down. (I don't really mean that btw)
