Transwomen are absolutely and entirely welcome to have Anne Summers parties, tbh. I mean, take them! Fill your boots!

SapphosRock · 23/01/2021 23:22

I may be wrong but I can't imagine many feminists feel strongly that Ann Summers parties should be sacred female only spaces.

Even the Daily Fail's angle is it's good business sense rather than anything more sinister.

Clymene · 23/01/2021 23:24

Knock yourselves out. Not sure where you'll put the love eggs but biological reality doesn't seem to be much of a barrier

Defaultname · 23/01/2021 23:32

Ann Summers party or not, the idea of marketing cock-rings for girls (surely the next step) is so wacky...

I was wondering what they’d do with a clit stimulator.

Use on belly button maybe?

Will make for an interesting discussion when they return it for not providing an earth shattering orgasm as claimed.

newyearnewname123 · 23/01/2021 23:46

I am very happy that Ann Summers are empowering transwomen.

That's that interesting use of empowering that doesn't involve actual power. They are welcome to it.

334bu · 23/01/2021 23:49

Why not!

HighHeelBoots · 24/01/2021 00:02

Where will they put the love eggsHmm

NorthernIrishFeminist · 24/01/2021 00:09

Frankly they are welcome to Ann Summers, the parties sound grim.

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 01:02

Why not!

This

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 01:04

There are other things to buy at Ann Summers parties apart from love eggs lol
Could buy lingerie or some of the other stuff

xanthian · 24/01/2021 01:15

Why not?!

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 01:41

Ann Summers party or not, the idea of marketing cock-rings for girls (surely the next step) is so wacky.

That's some reach and projection
Why automatically "go" there?
I mean, there's loads of stuff at Ann Summers party could all enjoy without cock rings Confused

  • lingerie

  • flavoured lube

  • vibrators

plus loads of other stuff can't think off the top of my head as it's late/early depending what way you look at it Grin

ItsLateHumpty · 24/01/2021 02:06

Actually Quaagars you’re being short sighted and both you and Ann Summers are being transphobic.

All their cock rings use he / him pronouns which is exclusive language and othering. They also (like you seem to be) haven’t allowed for men who don’t have cocks.
It seems very much like you are both saying if you have a cock you’re a man. And to be a man you must have a cock.

I hope that no trans woman goes to one of their parties and gets triggered when one of the sex toys designed for their bodies is aimed at men only.

You must both do better.

MissBarbary · 24/01/2021 04:37

And that's some reach and projection from what Quaggers actually said.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 24/01/2021 05:11

Well obviously being a real woman is all about hosting or attending sex merch parties.

They can have 'em.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 24/01/2021 07:21

@newyearnewname123

It's the capitalist version, where we realise our deeply felt inner essence and connect to our power by buying tacky plastic junk. It seemed edgy about 20 years ago - now looks more like the fall of rome in red polyester lace.
PronounssheRa · 24/01/2021 08:59

Meh, Anne summers has bugger all to do with empowerment.

Transwomen can have it and the scratchy polyester underwear

highame · 24/01/2021 09:15

Have transwomen been barred from having parties up until this point? I don't get this at all. Why would anyone object to a company making money. I suppose if Ann Summers make more and more trans stuff, they might be in a position to have ask (when people book a party) whether it is a transparty which Ann Summers will then be told is transphobic.

Apart from that - a non story really

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/01/2021 09:22

I wonder how many women's groups that include transwomen will now be asked by particular members to have AS parties as a sharing and bonding experience between women (or 'girls')?

It's my idea of hell so I'm afraid I'd be washing hair that evening, but I can imagine the suggestion being made ...

Lammergeier · 24/01/2021 09:23

I hope transwomen enjoy themselves at Ann Summers parties as soon as they are safely able to hold them again.

Covidcorvid · 24/01/2021 09:26

I was amazed by this. The chief exec woman talks about how she wants trans women to feel comfortable in the changing rooms. No acknowledgement this may well make women feel uncomfortable. Chief exec also talks about being sexually assaulted/abused....you’d think she’d have a bit more understanding that female customers may also have been assualted and not want men in the changing rooms. 🤷‍♀️

PronounssheRa · 24/01/2021 09:26

Have transwomen been barred from having parties up until this point?

No. Its commercial virtue signalling.

Covidcorvid · 24/01/2021 09:29

They’re welcome to the parties. Women can choose whether or not to go to them. I went to one 20 years ago, was grim. If I wanted to go to one now you’d know beforehand if a man had been invited as you tend to know the host to get an invite so could ask.

It’s the Ann summers reps I feel sorry for. They may have to attend some party full of men getting their rocks off by making her feel uncomfortable by getting her to demonstrate all the different vibrators.
