I think when I last went to a party there was a “no men” rule. So guess they’ve now waived this as long as the man wears lipstick.

RedToothBrush · 24/01/2021 09:31

Whats the packaging like? Is it neutrally worded?

Aspiringmatriarch · 24/01/2021 09:36

As this is in the feminist section I assume this has something to do with self-ID, transwomen/ men invading vulnerable women's spaces, unfair sports competition, young people being given inappropriate medical treatment, or something else which actually impacts women?
If not is it possible there might be the faintest whiff of transphobia to this post? 🤔

PronounssheRa · 24/01/2021 09:37

It’s the Ann summers reps I feel sorry for.

Does the party/rep side of Ann Summers operate as like an MLM?

PronounssheRa · 24/01/2021 09:43

www.annsummersbookaparty.co.uk/job-vacancies

Looks like an MLM. Which actually pisses me off more than the virtue signalling.

I was thinking exactly the same.

This is exactly why FWR has such a bad reputation and detracts from the real issues women are facing.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/01/2021 10:29

@PronounssheRa

Have transwomen been barred from having parties up until this point?

No. Its commercial virtue signalling.

Absolutely

I don’t know about being a demonstrator mind 🤔

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/01/2021 10:34

something else which actually impacts women?

Sorry, it’s early and im being stupid

How does it NOT impact women

Lots of women probably wouldn’t care one way or the other but some might be embarrassed handling the equipment or trying on the outfits

Im another who doesn’t go to these parties so dont care one way or the other

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/01/2021 10:36

Oopsie

In the interest of full disclosure ive been to two accidentally

One i managed to escape from by quick thinking and lying and the other i was just stuck 😩 there was a drag queen and strippers at that one as well!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/01/2021 10:40

You forgot because you have tried to expunge the experience from your mind no doubt.

It would be interesting to hear from a woman who does go to these parties and does have a strong opinion.

Now Rufus once could be considered an accident but twice?! Grin

Biscuitsanddoombar · 24/01/2021 10:54

Tne only transphobia on display is from Ann summers who are happy to let TW ie biological males go but not TM ie biological females go

It seems to me just an extension of the ‘this is how women perform womanhood’ fantasy that seeks to exist in some TW heads along with swapping lipstick in the ladies loos and discussing shoes.

Strangely the performance of womanhood fantasy rarely involves the menopause, housework or being talked over loudly by men

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/01/2021 10:58

Now Rufus once could be considered an accident but twice

Oh mate 😀

I tried the 2nd time honestly i did, but she didnt tell me what it was til after I’d said i was free...I’d already got out of it the first time she asked because she told me what it was FIRST

And it was for charity 😩

I had to get chips on the walk home i was that stressed

So your definition of transphobia is treating transmen as men in relation to Ann Summer parties which they're doubtless beating down the door to attend? Ok.
Aspiringmatriarch · 24/01/2021 11:26

Do we know that transmen aren't allowed to attend Ann Summers parties? I'm not seeing anything to indicate that but maybe I've missed something? I'd have no problem with it either way tbh but as per Rufus' post above, maybe some women would find that embarrassing? Who knows? Confused

Quaagars · 24/01/2021 11:50

@MissBarbary

And that's some reach and projection from what Quaggers actually said.
Thanks, exactly - Smile said nothing of the sort and completely misreading there lil

Yep - nothing to do with self ID etc, more having a laugh "where do you put the love eggs" etc Nice Not It's not transphobic here though, oh no. Apparently.
Aspiringmatriarch · 24/01/2021 12:02

Yes Quaagars and if you question it you're told "I've never seen any transphobia on here", "report it if you've seen any" and of "how do you define what a woman is?".
Meanwhile on threads like this it's "transwomen, ew, cock rings for girls LOL so deluded" but no, there's definitely no actual transphobia on here, because transmen are fine despite being confused lesbians. Grin

MichelleofzeResistance · 24/01/2021 12:18

Go for it, have fun, wtf not if you'd enjoy it? Confused There's always tupperwear parties too.

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 12:27

Laughing at the terrifying reality of self id is part of coping. There’s nothing malicious at laughing at the ridiculousness of some of this reality. We’re allowed to laugh at tw ‘breastfeeding’ or ‘needing’ tampons or trotting along to parties designed for women. This is our reality they are trampling all over, we can laugh at that the same way we laugh at the pigs in animal farm who start walking on two legs and living in the farmers house. It’s laughing at the blindness, not at tw, who fwr wouldn’t bat an eye lid at living however the fuck they want if they weren’t knowingly erasing us and our daughters in the process. None of us laugh at Mir or others who stand up for us, we’re good with men in skirts and support all mh support for them, we just laugh at those who believe it makes them the same as us who erase our rights in the process. It’s choosing to laugh rather than cry.

SqueakyCarrots · 24/01/2021 12:32

Mlm are insidious, but they prey on women. Especially vulnerable women, poorer, less educated women who having caring responsibilities at home.

The one woman I knew who did these parties, a long time ago now, was a friends mum. She was a single parent of four who had left her violent husband after decades of abuse. She had very little choice in how to provide for her kids and this was one of the ways she fitted earning round caring for them.

So yes the idea that tw would employ her to demonstrate vibrators and play the silly games they play at these parties and make her uncomfortable talking about what size suspenders they need to order definitely doesn’t sit right. She was a friends mum and I already remember her as more than worn down by life, by men, adding to that is gross.

I fail to see how women discussing the loss of another conventionally female only space (however tacky Summers is) is transphobic?? It was set up to sell stuff to women in a ‘fun’ female only atmosphere so everyone could relax and not feel too gross about being smutty in front of men.

I think you are being rather quick to accuse. No one has said that they don’t like trans people, just that there are some spaces where they are not welcome - or are women not allowed to discuss who accesses their spaces any more??

LApprentiSorcier · 24/01/2021 12:42

Lots of women probably wouldn’t care one way or the other but some might be embarrassed handling the equipment or trying on the outfits

Surely the type of person who chooses a party setting to buy sex toys and underwear isn't the sort of person who would be easily embarrassed?

This is a non-issue.
