Still attacking M Berns....

I am usually a lurker on this board, and have read a bit here about Magdalen Berns. I found this and it made me feel ill it is so vicious and cruel. mobile.twitter.com/sineadactually/status/1314985057937956864

No wonder so many feminists are too scared to speak out, if this is the resulting hate, even after death....

Strident is a misogynist word.

It's perhaps more accurate to say it's a word which is frequently used misogynistically, whereas by its etymology 'hysteria' is intrinsically misogynistic.

If a word is used pejoratively more in relation to women than men it's probably better avoided if possible.

MNHQ

Why was my post deleted? Why can't women talk about our bodies and experiences being fetishised?

DinosaursDontTwit · 12/10/2020 12:12

@Quaagars
When you have time, could you please answer my questions? I am truly puzzling over what you wrote about speaking of female biology being abusive....

OP posts:
Quaagars · 12/10/2020 12:14

@ErrolTheDragon

Yes, because this is a thread ABOUT MB.

It is, specifically, a thread about MB still being attacked after her death. How vicious and cruel it is, and the effect on feminists being made to fear speaking out.
Ignoring the continued abuse with maybe a dismissive 'it goes without saying' and turning the thread into more (rehashed) criticism of MB is frankly, imo, 'not in the spirit'.

Yes, and I've repeatedly said the tweets are vile, so how exactly am I ignoring the abuse?! I can think what she said was vile as well though.
Quaagars · 12/10/2020 12:19

Benefit of doubt you're "genuinely puzzling" and presumably not "genuinely new to all this" like poster upthread (aye?) )

Poor bitter little souls. Make the most of it ‘folk’, because it’s all going tits up for you. Tits, that’s something women develop, as they grow from girls into women, just in case you’re wondering. Isn’t female anatomy amazing?

I am truly puzzling over what you wrote about speaking of female biology being abusive...
You really, truly, genuinely puzzling how that is different?
I said "of course speaking of female biology isn't abusive."
If you honestly can't see the difference between talking of female biology and what was written well, then.
OK.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 12/10/2020 12:32

I said of course speaking of female biology isn't abusive."

The outside monitors, must think it is abusive to talk about female biology.

MuthaFunka61 · 12/10/2020 12:36

@Quaagars.

It may have been a sarcastic comment but it's not abusive.

Quaagars · 12/10/2020 12:45

Not abusive?
Really?
Right.
OK.
We'll have to agree to disagree then if you think it's just sarcastic what was said and can't see any abuse there.

DinosaursDontTwit · 12/10/2020 12:51

@Quaagars
Yes, I am new to this whole new world of what women can and can’t say and what is considered abusive, transphobic or hate. I have lurked for a while, but am actually recovering from multiple surgeries, have a neurological condition which can play havoc with my understanding when I’m having a particularly tough day, and have just been diagnosed with a pituitary tumour. I was asking a genuine question, in reaction to your comment. This new reality scares me, and I am trying to navigate my way though it.

OP posts:
Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 12/10/2020 12:51

What MB said was true.
I've listed accounts of women's bodies and experiences being fetished.
That is what she was talking about.

MuthaFunka61 · 12/10/2020 12:59

If you want people to understand your view point re: abusive comments, maybe try to breakdown you thought process and conclusion rather than being defensive and dismissive @Quaagars.

Mn isn't known for letting abusive comments stand.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 13:07

Dinosaurs Thanks

[quote AmericanSlang]DoctorTwo you can get that on a t-shirt Smile

Genuinely ordreding that on payday.

Many will not know what its about. Am getting more and more confident about sharing my POV, used to be behind closed doors with friends but tbh, if a stranger asks me, I will tell them now, fuck it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 13:11

So she lost her rag and screamed at her abusers. So what? Who wouldn’t break under relentless attack? Where is she threatening violence, trying to get them sacked or wishing harm on their children? Nowhere. All those are routine TRA tactics. A sweary rant is not in the same league as the death threats and drooling rape fantasies they showered her with.

This is worth repeating, for the "both sides" crew. My bold.

Quaagars · 12/10/2020 13:14

If you want people to understand your view point re: abusive comments, maybe try to breakdown you thought process and conclusion

Confused Hmm
Break down my thought process and conclusions over abusive comments?
What?
People don't have to agree with me that it's abusive, people have different ideas of what is and isn't abusive, and what is OK.
That's always been the case, whatever the abuse or attacks are about.
You're entitled to think it's fine, nothing wrong with it, and I'm entitled to think yeah, that's shit and definitely not just the same as talking about female biology.

Quaagars · 12/10/2020 13:18

A sweary rant

A "sweary rant."
Again with the minimising. Appropriating blackface and referencing womanface, accusing trans people of being impersonators....
That's just all about having a sweary rant, nothing else.
Really?
Plus, because there's no threats, that automatically makes it all OK and fine?

MuthaFunka61 · 12/10/2020 13:20

That's clear enough @Quaagars

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 13:20

Why did you quote DeliciouslyFemale talking about female biology only and say it was "abuse of a minority group" then? Now is your chance to clarify what you meant by that.

Tits, that’s something women develop, as they grow from girls into women, just in case you’re wondering. Isn’t female anatomy amazing?

WTAF.
People really don't see this as abuse towards a minority group?
Just.... OK.

Quaagars · 12/10/2020 13:21

Plus, because there's no threats, that automatically makes it all OK and fine?

Not the point being made. But you know that. Just "not in the same league as the death threats and drooling rape fantasies they showered her with".

Or do you think it is?

DinosaursDontTwit · 12/10/2020 13:23

@Ereshkigalangcleg
Thank you, both for the Flowers and for asking again what I thought I had asked.

OP posts:
Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 13:24

Is it really hard for you to say that expressing a strong disbelief in gender identity ideology in an offensive way isn't in the same league as death and rape threats, Quaagars?

Quaagars · 12/10/2020 13:24

Read the rest of the comment instead of nitpicking what bits was and wasn't quoted.
I've already quoted in full upthread.
If you can't genuinely see how that whole comment wasn't abusive towards a minority group, well, then, fine, OK.
As I said we all clearly have different ideas what is and isn't abusive comments.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2020 13:24

You're very welcome x

Perhaps you should learn to quote people properly then?
