around the guidance for the Equality Act 2010, and is crowdfunding for a judicial review. Thought I ought to spread the word.

Excellent news.

OhHolyJesus · 26/08/2020 15:45

Wow. This could be massive. I've left my spade around here somewhere, oh yes there it is.

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/08/2020 15:49

Thank you for posting OP. I've been praying for something like this to happen for so long. (I guess most of us have).

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 26/08/2020 15:56

Definitely. We need to know the official line on this. Good luck to her.

What words or phrases would it be useful to enter into a search engine, if one wanted to do some gardening?

StillNotAGirl · 26/08/2020 16:17

Needs to raise £20,000 in 29 days, we are all going to have to dig in again but these challenges are our best bet for making changes

BlackeyedSusan · 26/08/2020 16:24

For the thick'uns me who is Ann and what does she want to achieve?

gardenbird48 · 26/08/2020 16:24

Phew found it - those tweets are being deleted fast though!

StillNotAGirl · 26/08/2020 16:27

To find it go onto the crowd justice site and search 'Ann Sinnott'

Aesopfable · 26/08/2020 16:27

@BlackeyedSusan

I imagine she wants the guidance put out by a bunch of unelected civil servants to match the law agreed by parliament.
endofthelinefinally · 26/08/2020 16:35

Have pledged, but not added any extra for Crowd Justice, given their previous bad behaviour.
Ann Sinnott is a very brave woman.

Mollscroll · 26/08/2020 16:53

100pc digging for this. And yes Crowd Justice can go to hell.

Here's an earlier thread about Ann Sinnott which gives some background:

BlackeyedSusan

Ann Sinnott - I am a former Cambridge City Councillor. I resigned because the council was in breach of the 2010 Equality Act. Subsequently, I set up AEA to promote the interests of women and girls.

Official sources provide unlawful guidance on the 2010 Equality Act!

Yes, you read that right! It's shocking, isn't it?

For nearly 10 years, unlawful guidance on the 2010 Equality Act (EA2020) has been displayed on the website of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and on the Government Equalities Office (GEO) website for 5 years.

Over these ten years, the guidance has been widely accessed and further disseminated by countless organisations of all types. As a result, the unlawful guidance is reflected in the equality policies of organisations and institutions throughout the UK.

EHRC and GEO guidance is in breach of EA2010, Schedule 3, Sections 26, 27 and 28

This is a legal case to ensure that EA2010 guidance accurately reflects the Act.

Here’s the article with the background on The EHRC

It's under the Judicial review tag on the crowdjustice website Smile

Yes, she is challenging the guidance that the equality and human rights commission and government equalities office have been disseminating for the best part of five years, I believe?

The Government Equalities Office (GEO), which funds the EHRC, goes even further. Its guide, ‘Providing services for transgender customers’, states that all trans persons [no GRC in sight here]should be free to select whichever facility they choose. The guide also states that not allowing a transwoman access to women-only spaces is direct discrimination – which is also incorrect. That GEO guidance has been in circulation since 2015.

Anne has apparently raised this several times to no avail.

This wrong information has been disseminated across the board. And very many places are still using it.

So when, for instance, the girl guides say we need to treat trans girls as girls, the advice they would be relying on is that of the EHRC. Who are not interpreting the law correctly.

That is my understanding.

It's a pivotal part of the ongoing annihilation of women's rights. The EHRC and the GEO need to explain, PDQ, why tell they allowed incorrect information to given out at the expense of women's sex based, legal rights.

TheHeartbeat · 26/08/2020 17:08

She could also reach out to some people who made headlines recently.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 26/08/2020 17:09

Sorry! Replied to the wrong post Blush that was meant for sultanasofa

This is where Anne explains.

uncommongroundmedia.com/the-2010-equality-act-is-being-undermined-by-official-guidance/

As a result of complaints, in Oct 2018 the EHRC amended two pieces of guidance which stated that transwomen with a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) must not be refused access to women-only spaces – guidance which actually contravenes the Equality Act. Here’s the actual statement:

‘Where someone has a gender recognition certificate they should be treated in their acquired gender for all purposes and therefore should not be excluded from single-sex services.’

Though that statement was removed from the EHRC guidance referred to above, it remains in a plethora of other EHRC guidance.

Money to Ann, no tips fpr Crowd Justice after their previous behaviour though.

It's a big amount for a shortish time. I hope she reaches her target.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/08/2020 17:12

Thank you for all the explanations. That is huge.

Datun · 26/08/2020 17:14

@BlackeyedSusan

Thank you for all the explanations. That is huge.
It is.

Massive.

MoltenLasagne · 26/08/2020 17:23

This is fantastic, and great to see so many gardeners already. Does it normally show the CJ tips? Only there's not a single one on there that I can see so far.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 26/08/2020 17:30

Well, if they wanted tips they shouldn't have done what they did. It was disgraceful.
