"When you lie about what I believe about mental health medication and when you misrepresent the views of a trans woman for whom I feel nothing but admiration and solidarity, you cross a line."

And another. She's fantastic.
Following Mr Cohen's logic - why is the public debate about women's rights and single sex spaces being dominated by people who are a) not female and b) not experts on the reality of biology, seeing as they class 'woman' as an internal identity

Picture would help!

Apologies Xanthangum I missed that you had posted that tweet yesterday.

Maybe we need a thread of JKRs tweets and put downs, they are a masterclass in the classy putdown.

If Stephen King's tweets are ambiguous, it's got to be deliberate on his part, hasn't it?

Fence sitting.

I found it ambiguous but I was wondering whether I was being thick.

Its fascinating really watching a someone so famous on this road. "Educating herself" after being instructed to by unwittingly liking a wrongthink tweet. And coming to GC conclusions as a result of that.

It's horrible for her but it really is shining a light on all this.

www.independent.co.uk/news/science/human-chimera-what-the-rare-condition-is-and-why-there-might-be-many-more-people-with-it-than-we-a6709171.html

It basically is where twins merged in the womb (like the most extreme possible conjoined twins) so an individual is born with two distinct genotypes. Sometimes you can see the effects (e.g. a person with different colour eyes might be a chimaera).

Very rarely it means you can have a human with a mix of cells that are XX and cells that are XY.

However that human will still be expressing either a male or female genotype depending on the chromosomes in the germ cells that develop into the sex organs. I think. Not an expert.

So it's kind of academically interesting but we only know about it because of our ability to look at genes. There is no evidence at all it impacts the gender identity of a person, but TRAs will use it as a "gotcha" for sex being non-binary

Fascinating that mothers of boys are chimaeras

try to
but like the one telling me that chickens can develop male characteristics
so XX / XY is untrue
reality will meet their beliefs and they will lose followers

noblegiraffe · 08/07/2020 10:22

I think that some men wanging on about how women should shut up about trans rights don’t see women as an oppressed group. They see women speaking up about women’s rights as akin to ‘all lives matter’ or even worse ‘what about white people’s rights?’.

SunsetBeetch · 08/07/2020 11:56

This is a good article about JK Rowling and woke culture in general.

That was a very good read!

SunsetBeetch · 08/07/2020 12:35

This person also wrote that disgusting Autostraddle article

Wtaf is that article? Basically it just describes sex that all the men I've snagged have enjoyed, but makes out it's different because the penis is on a trans woman. Jesus. I never thought I'd read an article aimed at women, on how to give a better blow job, in a lesbian magazine Shock

This In terms of tissue structure and sensitivity, penises are basically just like clits, but bigger. is just plain ignorance. There is nothing like a clit. What a trombone

Looks nothing like a penis, performs nothing like a penis. I'm properly offended.

It produced a lot of material on here, the first time round 🤣

Makes my eyes water just imagining someone treating a clitoris in the same way you'd treat a penis 😱

Kantastic · 08/07/2020 14:03

Grin Grin Grin

Somehow I don't think many penis owners would enjoy it if I were to take this nonsense seriously.

Imagine if JKR did a charity raffle where you can buy tickets for a prize of going for a drink with her. Imagine how much money would be raised.

highame · 08/07/2020 14:48

JK Rowling’s treatment is a grim sign of how Twitter mobs have poisoned our cultural life
Arts institutions everywhere are set against freedom of speech. A little-known controversy at a London gallery shows where the rot began

This in the Telegraph today. Does anyone subscribe?
