Imagine still tweeting with your last breaths while literally dying because someone was wrong on the internet.

Datun · 19/06/2020 13:34

John Cleese is literally killing trans people

Asking questions is murder. I mean, he only asked if it was hate. Now it's murder.

I think his question has been comprehensively answered.

Stunning & brave, as always. Smile

I'd forgotten about that Loretta sketch...genius! Hope some other big names come out and nail their colours to the mast now.

woodhill · 19/06/2020 13:39

The comments are of an emotional blackmail nature but are just OTT

PearPickingPorky · 19/06/2020 13:42

13,000 people have liked his first tweet. That's a lot of people, many of whom won't have been involved in this debate.

I see FondOfBeetles is doing good work on his subsequent tweet on the unfairness of transwomen in female sports. I will go and back her up and ensure TRA comments that hormones cancel any advantages don't remain unchallenged, for anyone new to the topic who is reading and thinks this is true.

I know the woman who plays Judith in the Loretta scene - not terribly well, but well enough to have the occasional chat about Big Subjects.

I've been plucking up the courage to mention this for a while...

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 19/06/2020 13:52

Charlotte Church has stuck her oar in recommending Contrapoints - she hasn’t responded to ManFriday asking if Gavin should be allowed to play women’s rugby....

ArriettyJones · 19/06/2020 13:57

I've been plucking up the courage to mention this for a while...

Ask her if she gets royalties for video clips and memes. Grin

Would be very interesting to see a collage of the worst responses to JC's tweet alongside the those to JKR's.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/06/2020 14:16

Actually, I just realised that my dad used to do the same as John Cleese in certain meetings. He called it “the farmer from the countryside technique” (probably terribly non-PC, but those were different times).

It's the best way, if you can pull it off, to tackle this issue at work without making yourself a target, if you have training or awareness raising sessions or it comes up in a meeting. Ask lots of clarification questions which expose the agenda.

Yes, absolutely. The right questions at the right time are exactly what is needed to pierce the fog of sentiment and 'no debate'. Lets the sunlight in and I think is maybe the best way to help people through their experience in the foothills of gender ideology ...

RoyalCorgi · 19/06/2020 15:08

Nomad - I remember those videos. Cleese ran a management training/consultancy firm. The one I remember was "Meetings bloody meetings" which was about how managers waste their working day going from one pointless meeting to another. It was very funny. I'm not sure much has changed since then, though.

MockersMisguidedByTheScience · 19/06/2020 15:15

Not only Stan/Loretta but also the Stoning:

".....Are there any women here????"

Bloomburger · 19/06/2020 15:17

Mrsjamin my DH mentioned the Loretta speech in Life of Brian when I was trying to explain the whole JKR thing to him. He went around for days muttering about a foetus is box and now it's all I can think about in relation to TWAW and all that nonsense.

JustJayne69 · 19/06/2020 15:20

“ I’m Brian, and my wife is too”

MockersMisguidedByTheScience · 19/06/2020 15:38

Interesting Fact:

The town of Aberystwyth banned Life of Brian until the ban was finally lifted by the Mayor, who had previously played Judith Iscariot in the film.

Sexnotgender · 19/06/2020 16:03

Loving it.

We call it the ‘dumb laddie’ questioning technique. It’s very effective at exposing bullshit.

SciFiScream · 19/06/2020 16:13

I often get the "it happens anyway" response when I mention predators and sex-segregated spaces.

What's a good response?

Sexnotgender · 19/06/2020 16:16

@SciFiScream burglaries happen anyway but we still lock our doors!

SciFiScream · 19/06/2020 16:22

Oooo that's a good one. There must be more.
Thanks so much!!!!

I can't say the word burglaries! Or burglar. I have to say robber or robberies. Grin

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 19/06/2020 16:24

We all die eventually, so should we just give up and drop dead now?
