I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

dark times Sad langcleg Thanks

goodthinking99 · 21/01/2020 17:40

Disappointing news, Lang's posts were clear, considered and consistent. A real loss for this place.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 21/01/2020 17:41

MNHQ

Why has lang been banned?

dragongirlx

I'm going through langs posts from yesterday and today and really can't see what the problem with her posts could be?
That MNHQ post on the Jess Philips webchat did feel like a warning when they said other people have contacted them and told them they feel put off joining in..

drum123 · 21/01/2020 17:41

Unbelievable. Has mumsnet joined the handmaidens? It's as if women just don't have a voice...

BertsFriend · 21/01/2020 17:42

Really poor decision MNHQ. The FWR section is the main reason I'm here, and LangCleg is one of the most coherent posters (in a section with tough competition). I'm another that is politely requesting to know the justification.

BeyondFlubeInclusionaryRF · 21/01/2020 17:43

Fuxache. That's shit.

Procrastinator2 · 21/01/2020 17:43

LangCleg is able to explain safeguarding extremely well. I will miss her. This reflects very badly on you, @MNHQ. It is very sad that women who wish to discuss women's rights and the safeguarding of children are losing any space for discussion because a very small number of people are gaming the system.

RoyalCorgi · 21/01/2020 17:44

How did you find out, OP?

Lang is probably my favourite poster.

Bienchen · 21/01/2020 17:44

Another crap decision and it was not even weekend mods ... articulate and informed posters are being picked off one by one, why is**@MNHQ** participating in this? A seasoned expert in safeguarding banned from a parenting website? Really? Must have rattled some cages with the mention of coercive control...

MorrisZapp · 21/01/2020 17:44

I'm sure it's a misunderstanding. They can't have permanently banned Lang Cleg, because to do so would be utterly outrageous.

MsMcWibble · 21/01/2020 17:44

This is an absolutely shit decision. Makes me wonder what mumsnet are playing at.
Mumsnet have already got us tying ourselves in knots trying to make ourselves understood. It's intolerable and impossible. I can only assume that they want to wind down the feminism board by picking us off one by one.
One day this will all be history - and people will be writing books about this episode of insanity. Mumsnet have a choice about how they are remembered.

FFSFFSFFS · 21/01/2020 17:44

That is fucking outrageous.

Women. Know your place.

TeiTetua · 21/01/2020 17:44

Adding another voice to the chorus--if it's true, this is a terrible decision to have made. It seems to make having an opinion into a crime. Must Twitter's policies be followed everywhere?

DidoAndHerLament · 21/01/2020 17:45

Badly done @MNHQ. Badly done indeed.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 21/01/2020 17:45

Disgusting.

MN pay lip service to feminism these days. It’s very far removed from the site it once was. Truth and real feminism are not permitted.

@MNHQ won’t acknowledge this thread.

Theworldisfullofgs · 21/01/2020 17:46

For what reason?

SpringerJS · 21/01/2020 17:47

From a longtime lurker: this is awful. I always found LangCleg's posts to be erudite, clear and to the point. She cut straight to the heart of the matter on every thread I saw her on.

dragongirlx · 21/01/2020 17:48

I found out from lang herself but will not be saying when or where due to the security issues we are all unfortunately aware of so please dont ask further

BeyondFlubeInclusionaryRF · 21/01/2020 17:49

Lang has always made it luminescently clear that references to coercive control re MNHQ are always meant in the way that it is the Monitors who are coercively controlling, and MNHQ are being used by them as a proxy. Some may disagree with this, but it is surely not a bannable offence?

WrathoFaeKIop · 21/01/2020 17:49

Lang, she knows her stuff on child safeguarding.

This board is thinning out like - - - - - - - - - - 's comb over.
Obviously that is a joke but you can't tell cos I've left out words so it won't be deleted.

Blanketyblank

RaininSummer · 21/01/2020 17:49

This is terrible and shocking to read.

popehilarious · 21/01/2020 17:49

I am beyond furious
I'm basically here (on fwr) because of Lang.
I thought the webchat shenanigans was a one-off but this has convinced me this is not the place for me. What on earth is happening?
(I'm assuming there has been a sustained campaign by various onlookers?)

UpfieldHatesWomen · 21/01/2020 17:50

Don't @MNHQ realise that they are nothing without their members? LangCleg has always been the voice of reason on these boards, and reading the posts of members like her are the only reason I joined. Fuck you @MNHQ, ban me if you like, I don't want to be here if this is your way of dealing with women voicing their opinions on the issues that affect them, there are other forums on the internet after all.

Datun · 21/01/2020 17:50

I thought that the whole process was that you got a six week ban?

HQ The inconsistency is really crazy making.

isabellerossignol · 21/01/2020 17:51

I have a great deal of respect for LangCleng, her posts were so sensible and so consistent.

Where are women actually allowed to talk, if not on a site primarily aimed at mothers? Sad
