I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Who else is gone? I’m missing a few names when I look at threads now.

BovaryX · 21/01/2020 17:53

I am just gutted about this. Lang has been such an asset to any debate, please reconsider this mumsnet, she is a fluent and passionate advocate for women and children.

Lazyteens · 21/01/2020 17:54

I am so saddened to hear this. My main interaction with Mumsnet is with the FWR board (I mainly lurk but I am here every day) and like others appreciate Lang’s posts as she articulates things so clearly. Please reconsider Mumsnet.

kaldefotter · 21/01/2020 17:54

I would very much like MNHQ to reinstate LangCleg's account. I'm largely a lurker on FWR, but frankly, it's posts by LangCleg, Datun and others that keep me coming back to this website.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 21/01/2020 17:54

Very bad decision from @mnhq. Lang was an exceptional poster.

Hugely disappointed and, frankly, angry.

Daughterofmabel · 21/01/2020 17:54

Unbelievable. Has mumsnet joined the handmaidens? It's as if women just don't have a voice..
This. Terrible decision

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 17:55

Datun too? When was that?

Datun · 21/01/2020 17:55

No I'm still here!

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 17:56

(Waves) sorry I ‘outed’ you there by mistake.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 21/01/2020 17:57

Datun is still here. On this thread in fact! Grin

CallofDoodee · 21/01/2020 17:57

Im another who would really like to @MNHQ to explain exactly where Lang apparently went so wrong. Can't believe they have been banned.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/01/2020 17:57

That's a dreadful decision, @MNHQ. Please reconsider.

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 21/01/2020 17:57

XPost!

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 17:58

I’m still here 😎

boldlygoingsomewhere · 21/01/2020 17:59

I’m shocked but sadly not surprised. It’s clear that certain members are targeted - there are other regular posters here who I worry will be next. This is no longer a place where frank and free discussion is allowed. The contrast between the standards required on this board compared to AIBU are striking.

Doyoumind · 21/01/2020 18:00

It's getting stupid now. There are disruptors whose only reason for being on MN is to create arguments on these boards and report posters and they seem to be able to carry on regardless. I'm really furious about this.

Apollo440 · 21/01/2020 18:01

I think Lang being banned rather proves her point about coercive control. These people will not give up until this board is shut down or silenced. All you need is useful idiots. I looking at you @MNHQ.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 18:03

I hoped she asked for details of her deletes and the notes on her account. Then she could see what the thinking was and if it was fair.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 21/01/2020 18:03

A forum which allows non-members to report posy they don’t like by posters they don’t like was always going to be problematic. I have no idea why this was put in place.

Still, this is a place of commerce so the owner/s either have their own agenda or they think the advertisers would object to what is discussed here. Given how much virtue-signalling and regulatory capture has gone on everywhere, it’s possible that it’s both.

The banning of the most interesting, well-informed and erudite posters is a tragedy. I think I’ll be spending much less time here and rather more elsewhere, where Lang, ‘the woman of saggy tits” can be found on the regular

isabellerossignol · 21/01/2020 18:03

I have a list of names in my head that I am fully expecting to see banned one by one.

FeckTheMagicDragon · 21/01/2020 18:04

@MNHQ I’m mainly a lurker, but I know how valuable LangCleg was to these boards. Please un-ban her. This is a poor decision.
The last time I posted something like this was when AnyFucker was banned.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/01/2020 18:04

Some people name change.

MarciaDidia · 21/01/2020 18:05

I mostly lurk but WTF? LangCleg is a brilliant, knowledgeable, clear poster. The approach to moderation on this board has become ridiculously draconian and patronising, not to say inconsistent with some of the bile spewed on other boards. Please reconsider, MNHQ.

Joisanofthedales · 21/01/2020 18:05

FFS. What is wrong with mumsnet? Langcleg is one of the reasons i come to this board as her posts are so good.
How can a parenting site ban someone so brilliant at dissecting safe guarding issues? It's not only bizarre but makes me wonder what's going on at headquarters. Infiltration by the TRAs perhaps!
As you may have noticed I angry about this Angry

SugarPlumFairyCakes · 21/01/2020 18:06

Lang and other fabulous, knowledgeable, articlulate women are the reason I am here.
Please reconsider Mumsnet.
