I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Datun I won't go entirely - though if I spend time on spinster I'll spend less on here.

You're right, the women who care about safeguarding of kids is a very large number. A lot of them aren't aware of what's going on, the more I speak to the more know and are appalled. Thanks to Lang I can now explain what good safeguarding looks like.

Lang being banned just makes me more determined to make more and more and more women aware of safeguarding failures. The monitors, who I'm betting spend most of their time on social media, can't rival the school gates for effectively mobilising women.

The women met at speakers corner so that the new venue could be passed to women secretly on slips of paper. The members of the FB group who had tried to hunt them down were there to prevent the meeting. And the attacker who posted he wanted to fuck up some terfs attacked Maria.

I was there. The venue had to be kept secret after the TRAs had intimidated the original venue - a small community library - into cancelling.

I left for the venue before the thug attacked Maria, but I remember the bits of paper, trying to stop the TRAs seeing them and heading for the venue in a small group, trying to avoid the TRAs following close behind us.

As soon as they found the venue the word went out. I remember sitting in that room listening to the shouts outside of "BURN IT DOWN". The meeting closed early because of the threats and there were police around to ensure we got away safely.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 22/01/2020 11:17

Thanks Tired Wink I'll check that out.

Prodigal I've often observed some of those snipers do only that. I've yet to see one on a thread about violence towards women and girls, condemning it. Unless it's to a) tell us they've never experienced it therefore it's being exaggerated, b) tell us NAMALT, or c) what about the violence on the menz. The lack of actual support or compassion for females is startling. Confused

MistOnTheWater · 22/01/2020 11:17

I'm another lurker (haven't posted for ages) who is absolutely appalled at Lang being banned. She's always insightful and clear.

Banning a safeguiding expert from a parenting website. Not a good look @MNHQ.

FloralBunting · 22/01/2020 11:17

I suspect there will be a LangCleg second thread at this rate. Terribly sorry for the inconvenience to them as doesn't like that.

Datun · 22/01/2020 11:19

As soon as they found the venue the word went out. I remember sitting in that room listening to the shouts outside of "BURN IT DOWN".

Burn it down.

Shut them up.

Shut them down.

janeskettle · 22/01/2020 11:21

Do you mean the non-response from Michael on the Site board?

Yes, that was not reassuring.

Mner2000 · 22/01/2020 11:23

No response either to my thread asking re the thread deletions on the Jess Phillips thread. Do you think they have gone into lockdown?

OnlyTheTitOfTheLangBerg · 22/01/2020 11:26

As soon as they found the venue the word went out. I remember sitting in that room listening to the shouts outside of "BURN IT DOWN". The meeting closed early because of the threats and there were police around to ensure we got away safely.

But did they call you by the wrong pronouns? Because we all know that's the real literal violence.

Weezol · 22/01/2020 11:30

Banning Lang is disgraceful cowardice on the part of @MNHQ.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/01/2020 11:32

Joss Prior is a lying liar who lies.

Joss Prior and Joss's alter egos have been banned from this site many times. I know this because I've reported several of them.

Joss Prior will also be lapping up all this attention.

Some of you on this thread are playing into Joss Prior's trolly hands. I think some of those whipping up hysteria against MNHQ may have their own agendas, which I suspect are closely aligned with Joss Prior's.

I hope MNHQ will reinstate LangCleg, but I don't for one minute think she was banned because @HebeMumsnet or anyone else from MNHQ was colluding with Joss Prior.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 22/01/2020 11:32

But did they call you by the wrong pronouns? Because we all know that's the real literal violence.

Nah, they never bother asking us women what our pronouns are because they don't see us as actual human beings. They're allowed to self ID but not us.

LangCleg101 · 22/01/2020 11:32

I mostly lurk on these boards and am forever grateful for the knowledgable posters who keep opening peoples eyes to the current issues and refuse to let something as important as child safeguarding be swept under the carpet. Name changed in support.

R0wantrees · 22/01/2020 11:32

I'm shocked that Mumsnet accepts complaints/reports from non members.

There's a 'networked' group of TRA monitors. This was described in interviews with Eve Livingston over a year ago for her 'Vice' article, 'How an Online Forum for Moms Became a Toxic Hotbed of Transphobia'.

(extract)
"“When I started using Twitter and engaging in the trans sphere in mid-2017, Mumsnet was constantly referenced both on my timeline and in DMs,” says Joss Prior a trans woman who is part of a sizable trans community that monitors and discusses Mumsnet regularly. “The whole of the Feminism board was like a spectre hanging over the daily trans discourse.” (continues)

“It’s a core group of a few hundred hardcore trans-exclusionary radical feminists (TERFs), a tiny percentage of overall users,” says Christine, the mother of a trans child and also part of the network that regularly monitors Mumsnet. (Christine’s name has been changed for privacy reasons.) “Yet the Feminism board is just 90 percent discussions about trans people on any given day.” (continues)

If anyone wants to speak to her, she's on Spinster.

MrsSnippyPants · 22/01/2020 11:33

For anyone heading over to Spinster, the FAQs give some guidance.
As soon as I can find a simple 'how to use Spinster' guide I will post it here as a separate thread.

I hope MNHQ will reinstate LangCleg, but I don't for one minute think she was banned because @HebeMumsnet or anyone else from MNHQ was colluding with Joss Prior.

Nor do I.

But as the site is not pre-moderated and only responds to reports, someone was reporting Lang because they were objecting to what she was saying.

HQ will not object to pointing out safeguarding. Twitter TRAs will.

So although I don't think it was a direct conversation, it was a chain. I'm not sure how it couldn't be?

ButterisbestLangClegisbetter · 22/01/2020 11:36

@snowblight
I'm really pleased to see that your disgraceful and slanderous post about Lang Cleg has been deleted.

Datun · 22/01/2020 11:37

Strewth, snow has had zillions of posts deleted. Where is the ban hammer in that direction?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/01/2020 11:40

Never going to happen. Snow hasn't typed a single transphobic word!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/01/2020 11:41

No... wait.. Nor had Lang!!

EverybodyLangClegTonight · 22/01/2020 11:42

Good question datun. Ban hammer Overdue.

QueSera · 22/01/2020 11:44

Not RTFT.
Just popping on to say to MN and MN mods - very disappointed in you. Women have a right - actually, a duty - to discuss issues that affect us as a sex, and to discuss safeguarding.
Bring back LangCleg.

Rabidgingercat · 22/01/2020 11:46

MNHQ - there's no shame in acknowledging when a mistake is made.

It's something we teach our kids, but adults are generally useless at modelling this.

All of us (individuals and organisations) get it wrong sometimes. A resistance to acknowledging errors is detrimental to us all.

Please reconsider your position on this.

OldCrone · 22/01/2020 11:47

But as the site is not pre-moderated and only responds to reports, someone was reporting Lang because they were objecting to what she was saying.

If it was something she posted on the webchat, there may not have been any reports, because I think that is directly moderated by MNHQ.

A post I made on the webchat disappeared almost immediately and I got an email threatening suspension (about 3 hours later).
