I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Another mainly lurker here, this is a crying shame. Her posts were excellent and she wrote in a very clear cut way which helped me (and I'm sure others) understand different aspects of this debate (or rather #nodebate).

I hope this ban is temporary and if not, all the best for the future.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 21/01/2020 16:59

There are nasty, venomous, speculative, hateful posts about Megan Markle under the royal family board. I know numerous people have complained, but they are allowed to stay and the posters are not censured. It does not seem fair.

GinnyLane · 21/01/2020 17:00

@StealthPolarBear
@AnyFucker

So now we need to pull here too?

IM0GEN · 21/01/2020 17:00

Lang is one of the clearest posters on here and indefatigable in the cause of proper understanding of safeguarding

MNHQ are shooting themselves in the foot if this is the route they want to go down

This. And what everyone else said.

Imnobody4 · 21/01/2020 17:00

This is a shameful decision. I always thought Mumsnet was a cut above Twitter.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/01/2020 17:02

Yes gods!

@MNHQ that was a poor decision. You must know how it undermines your public stance of allowing open discussion...

GirlsInGreen · 21/01/2020 17:03

Dear god - very poor MN!

Freespeecher · 21/01/2020 17:03

Pity, lots of time for Lang, hope this gets overturned.

Disgrace · 21/01/2020 17:03

Re-registered simply to log my disgust. Lang is an exceptional poster and her policy understanding is second to none. I've noticed a few posters in recent weeks deliberately target her and she's reacted with the type of intelligence and grace that these muppets could only dream of.

Shocking decision MNHQ, you look utterly foolish given the obvious target on Lang's back. You've been played like the proverbial fiddle.

stillathing · 21/01/2020 17:03

Seriously? She's one of the very best. Winning combination of intellect and clarity. Did she actually break a rule though? Or just piss them off?

Kilbranan · 21/01/2020 17:04

Really disappointed in mnhq if this is true. Shameful decision when Lang has consistently spoken out against child safeguarding lapses. I can only hope this is temporary ban, she is trying to help protect vulnerable children ffs! Angry

NoSquirrels · 21/01/2020 17:04

Lang has been suspended? Surely not banned permanently?

Wow.

calllaaalllaaammma · 21/01/2020 17:04

They should reinstate her, banning her has kind of proven her point though, hasn't it.

TheWildPlaces · 21/01/2020 17:05

Another (mostly) lurker here.

@MNHQ please reconsider this. Perhaps reflect on how much traffic you get to this board and that women like Lang are the reason why.

Annasgirl · 21/01/2020 17:06

I just came on to add my support - love your contributions Lang. I don't understand why Lang was banned? Surely we can talk honestly on a feminist board??? DO we have to go offline or onto the Darknet to talk now?

SciFiScream · 21/01/2020 17:07

Wow. Shocking. Absolutely shocking.

This is a poor decision which proves the point about coercive control entirely.

Is there anyway to communicate with LangCleg off Mumsnet? I'd very much like to stay in touch if this ridiculous decision can't be undone.

boatyardblues · 21/01/2020 17:07

Oh FFS!

cornflakegirl · 21/01/2020 17:07

I mostly lurk here, and have learned loads from Lang's posts.

dragongirlx · 21/01/2020 17:07

Its a permanet ban, or as they put it they have rescinded her membership

OP posts:
Datun · 21/01/2020 17:08

Oh no!! That's terrible news.

Lang was the in-house expert on child safeguarding.

On a parenting website.

HQ, if you feel that Lang as overstepped the mark, please, please give her a six week suspension. It solves the problem, without using a sledgehammer to crack the nut.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 21/01/2020 17:08

This is outrageous, what a loss.

dragongirlx · 21/01/2020 17:08

Or permanent bloody phone

OP posts:
Cuntysnark · 21/01/2020 17:08

Lang is the very voice of reason. I love her posts. So disappointed. And angry.

StealthNinjaMum · 21/01/2020 17:09

Place marking to see what Mumsnet have to say.

Mumsnet i’m disappointed.

ScipioAfricanus · 21/01/2020 17:10

I’m really shocked. And another one here saying how brilliant her posts were, informative and incisive. Really disappointed to hear this decision.
