I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Wouldn't it be amazing if politicians and other officials were banned from their jobs for talking rubbish as readily as Mumsnetters were banned for stating facts?

picklemepopcorn · 21/01/2020 17:10

Langcleg!

I'm only here for the feminism. I wouldn't bother otherwise.

Langcleg is an essential voice. She is not intemperate or immoderate. She should not be banned.

GrandmaMazur · 21/01/2020 17:11

Oh no, that's crazy. Another mainly lurker here who has been inspired and learnt much from Lang's clear posts.

I thought she was very measured in her responses despite the many goady posts aimed at her.

@MNHQ please reconsider..

Outofexcuses · 21/01/2020 17:11

This is mad. Lang is a terrific poster. I can’t believe that someone so clear, rational, sensible can have posted something bad enough to warrant banning. @MNHQ what is going on?

stumbledin · 21/01/2020 17:12

I just dont understand! So because someone has a point of view, understanding that she can only express by making if not the same, but a very similar statement, she is banned.

If there an agreed limit on how many times we can say the same thing? Can we be told??

But my worry is that it means threads are being so closely monitored it is like close supervision and / or other posters are for whatever reason repeatedly reporting her.

In the light of good practice and transparency @MNHQ should explain on what basis this has been done. To not explain is to make people play a game without telling you the rules.

Look forward to clear statement.

DeeZastris · 21/01/2020 17:12

This place is a total joke.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2020 17:12

Oh no. Censorship. This is a poor show @MNHQ

boatyardblues · 21/01/2020 17:13

I can’t help feeling her solid grasp of safeguarding practice means hers was a scalp the Monitors and other stirrers were keen to claim. We can’t have people pointing out glaring holes in safeguarding policy and practice after all. Hmm That would be terribly inconvenient for some people.

Tubbytwo · 21/01/2020 17:15

I’m new but Lang Cleg’s voice was one of those I most respected 😟

AnyFucker · 21/01/2020 17:15

An intelligent adult human female. Deary me.
You know when you feel like flouncing off in protest ? No, not doing it.

Inconvenient women should be heard, not silenced.

FlaviaAlbia · 21/01/2020 17:15

Well, that is shit. Lang spoke nothing but sense.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2020 17:16

I haven't ever seen her be nasty.

Al1cewith2020vision · 21/01/2020 17:17

What a disastrous decision. Lang was clear, concise and bang on the money time and time again.

I missed the debate, but I've seen plenty of evidence of the special guidelines being used to control and check people who push back against the proscribed views of a minority.

This is FEMINISM AND WOMEN'S rights. Allegedly.

MoltenLasagne · 21/01/2020 17:17

Let's think, what type of people would have a vested interest in shutting down discussions of safeguarding? What type of people would have such an interest that they would silently police a parents chatboard reporting experts in safeguarding? Hmm

And what kind of parents chatboard would side with the people trying to shut down concerns rather than listening to them?

stumbledin · 21/01/2020 17:17

As far as I can see it means all her posts have disappeared.

This is actual censorship. If there is some convoluted right and wrong way to post, @MNHQ you only need to delete those.

To delete all contributions is censorship. Its like trying to erase someone.

I really do hope you have the integrity to explain why this decision has been made.

TheChampagneGalop · 21/01/2020 17:18

Well at this point getting banned is a badge of honour to show that you're being an outspoken enough feminist isn't it.

Cuntysnark · 21/01/2020 17:20

All her posts have been deleted? That is sinister.

Lang, if you are reading this, you have been informative and inspirational - many of us are indebted to your knowledge.

Lean in; pull; me too.

And Lang if you are reading - Thank You ThanksBrewWine

dianebrewster · 21/01/2020 17:20

Parenting forum bans poster who is safeguarding expert.

They should be employing her to train their staff.

Ibloodylovewomen · 21/01/2020 17:20

You are fucking kidding. What the hell are MN thinking.

I think her posts are still up.
