Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

To start off thread 2 - everyone saying the time was right for this to hit the news stands right after the Election was right!

Maya Forstater's Employment Tribunal case is, by virtue of JK Rowling's support, more popular in The Spectator than Boris Johnson by Boris Johnson, The Tories and The Labour Party!

MOST POPULAR in The Spectator

1. In just a few words, JK Rowling has changed the transgender debate (James Kirkup)

  1. Boris Johnson: Perhaps my campaign was ‘clunking’. But sometimes, clunking is what you need (Boris Johnson)
  2. We’ve just had the best decade in human history. Seriously (Matt Ridley)
  3. Keir Starmer looks and sounds middle class precisely because he’s working class (Isabel Hardman)
  4. Let’s make David Lammy Labour’s next leader (Rod Liddle)
  5. A new leader won’t stop the far left’s domination of Labour (Nick Cohen)

That's a very good sign. I had a carefully worded conversation with a colleague before the Christmas break. It's obvious the message is getting through and people who are in no way well versed in trans debates are perplexed and wondering where nonsense such as 'biological sex isn't real' or talking about biological sex constitutes some form of blasphemy is coming from.

Trans ideology is seeping from its echo chambers and coming in contact with reality... And the general public aren't happy with what they are being told.

Manderleyagain · 10/01/2020 14:56

Nonnymouss what's so amazing is that these ideas which are now escaping into the real worlds,(which people can't quite believe when they hear it) have been used to change important policies in so many institutions, and very nearly changed the law.

Manderleyagain · 10/01/2020 14:57

Cuntysnark that is a very good point.

NonnyMouse1337 · 10/01/2020 16:00

Manderleyagain yes, so much has gone under the radar without any public debate or open scrutiny or election in terms of party manifestos or even a referendum.

The thin veneer of 'progressiveness' pushed by the TRA brigade is wearing off as people start getting a glimpse of what is going on. Political parties are going to have to answer some very uncomfortable questions. I think it's why there are efforts to keep it all under wraps rather than admit the establishment was captured by a very vocal and influential lobby.

HorseWithNoTimeForThis · 10/01/2020 16:30

This thread always seems to me to be lower down the page than it should be.

Also on the threads that "I'm on" page it doesn't feature at all! Am I being paranoid or simply unobservant (that's never happened before...)

nauticant · 10/01/2020 18:23

And the general public aren't happy with what they are being told.

I always post this quotation attributed to Orwell: "Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them."

Yes, that is indeed a very interesting point Cuntysnark.

MoleSmokes · 11/01/2020 02:34

HorseWithNoTimeForThis for some reason I only every see a very short-list of threads "I'm On".

I have assumed that there is some sort of time-limit and that it really means "Threads I have posted to within the last X days/weeks" type of thing.

My "Watching" page is always much longer, and includes the threads "I'm on" that are not on the "I'm on" page.

OP posts:
HorseWithNoTimeForThis · 11/01/2020 09:00

Just now this thread is 26th on the list of threads I'm on. Others higher up the list do not have more recent posts. To put it another way, I would've expected this thread to be in the top three. That has been my experience on these boards normally. V. strange?

XXJingledNerves · 11/01/2020 20:10

How is the twitter hinkiness being observed and recorded? I am a bit surprised at the blatantness of it all. Is there a record of the daily likes anywhere, a twitter expose in the making?

JKR remaining spectacularly uncancelled!

TruthOnTrial · 12/01/2020 10:08

This thread should also be on my Im On list I've just realised, as there are current posts. Yes, thats odd indeed as I had assumed the list was current and got shorter because items dropped off it over time.

Thats not the rule though is it. I don't know what the rule is though as its not making sense.

Taking up the joe lycette topic I think hes had a change around, hes now talking bio realities, which is new from what I've seen of him previously.

Interesting in the case of Samira how even the legal team seem to think that the terms sex and gender are interchangeable.

Almost like they keep forgetting what they're supposed to use!

YourOpinionIsNoted · 14/01/2020 23:25

I'm reading my illustrated Goblet of Fire. It's beautiful and amazing and magical and I love it and JK. Also, isn't it amazing how quickly the world has moved on? Take note, any other famous people who are thinking of speaking out. Twitter will scream at you for a few days, and then they'll forget.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/01/2020 23:32

Oh, they won't forget, the upset ones will hold a grudge forever, it's just that there aren't enough of them for it to matter.

GirlDownUnder · 14/01/2020 23:35

Twitter will scream at you for a few days, and then they'll forget.

The screamers seem to have, the supporters are still liking a tweet posted last year / last decade ok ok it was last month, but the way twitter moves on, it was ‘forever’ ago.

Just putting myself down as supporting JK Rowling. It cheered me up to see her stand up to them.

hazeyjane · 25/01/2020 18:05

Good to see JK tweeting again....but my god the fucking tweets about murdering transwomen continue.
Also Patton Oswalt @ ing JK a sweet video of his daughter finishing Harry Potter and getting piled on by TRAs ffs

GivesNoFox · 25/01/2020 18:59

I caught just a few "jk is a terf" tweets under Oswalts post the rest were overwhelmingly positive.
I find the "terf" comments both eye-rolling hilarious and sad tbh in the sense that they follow the lines of "Oh! my 9yo kid is questioning their identity/ might question their gender identity one day and they love HP, what will happen if they grow up and find out their hero is a horrible TERF that doesnt want them to exist?!"

I mean, can these people get any more over dramatic? This is the exact kind of lack of critical thinking and hyped up drama that will cause these kids to grow up with anxiety and a constant victim mentality.

langclegflavoredbananamush · 25/01/2020 19:55

I hope the satisfaction Ms. Rowlings is getting for exposing the nuttiness to so many people who had/have no idea about toxic transgenderism is outweighing the stress which I'm sure they are causing. I doubt that any amount of fame or money makes you impervious to vitriol.

LangClegsOpinionIsNoted · 25/01/2020 19:57

I doubt it makes you impervious too, bananamush, but I reckon it might help a bit!

langclegflavoredbananamush · 25/01/2020 20:20

I doubt it makes you impervious too, bananamush, but I reckon it might help a bit!

True, true, at least the money part. I think being famous must be horrible though, having your every move under a microscope and being speculated over. Decisions that are simple for us common folk must be more complicated when you're famous. I don't understand how it's considered to be attractive.

LangClegsOpinionIsNoted · 25/01/2020 20:32

Oh yes, I was talking about the money. Fame holds no attractions for me either. But I would like to have enough money to always have "escape to my own private island" as a back up plan!

WomanBornNotWorn · 27/01/2020 19:28

Long convo on @Glinner's Twitter - many people reporting their original likes and retweets for that tweet have vanished and they're having to redo them - sometimes multiple times. The likes are still now at 204K, though!

Qcng · 28/01/2020 21:18

Twitter is not letting the likes for JK reach over 205K
I've re-liked twice today, but it'll be gone again tomorrow.
No one has the time to keep checking and re-liking this one tweet.

in reality JK would probably have 500K likes.

Meanwhile, Twitter have their own bots liking and liking the replies against JK Rowling, so it looks like the "ratio" matches their corporate ideology.

I long for the day Twitter falls. I really do.

Qcng · 28/01/2020 21:20

Glinner has had to re-like the Tweet.
What the hell does Twitter HQ have to gain from cheating it's users?
