Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

And blimey, that Aidan Comerford, is it

He is totally bonkers

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2019 14:59

So many women referring to themselves as cis.

It's unbelievable really.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/12/2019 14:59

He is chillingly bonkers.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/12/2019 14:59

Yes, we have different biological experiences. No, that doesn't mean cis women are Owed more. Trans women are subject to disproportionate discrimination and violence like I & JKR can't understand exactly because of patronizing bullshit like this. Fuck off! twitter.com/carolineframke/status/1207672221164097537?s=19

Their abusiveness gives them away.

Thinkingabout1t · 19/12/2019 15:01

I like her books and I love her feminism.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/12/2019 15:02

They feel betrayed and v angry..It's horrible to read.

Or, alternately, it's like a teenager being told that Santa doesn't exist and them responding with the kind of tantrum you'd expect from a toddler.

thereplycamefromanchorage · 19/12/2019 15:03

This is massive. Thank you J K Rowling. It must have taken a lot of courage to write this.

zen1 · 19/12/2019 15:05

All power to JK for posting that. Really hope she lets it stand.

OvaHere · 19/12/2019 15:05

Fantastic news to come home to. Thank you J.K

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/12/2019 15:05

Cloudyz7 · 19/12/2019 15:08

Good response from another JK (James Kirkup)

blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/12/in-just-a-few-words-jk-rowling-has-changed-the-transgender-debate/

SkunkButtRug · 19/12/2019 15:08

Love JKR, God almighty the replies...why do I always read the replies underneath? They sound so unhinged " delete your account" what the fuck are these people on?!

NotTerfNorCis · 19/12/2019 15:08

JK Rowling is trending with 'terf' and 'JK Rowling is a terf'.

For saying that biology is real.

I'm in awe of her courage.

Also: #ThisIsNotADrill is trending too. Things are really moving!

Devereux1 · 19/12/2019 15:09

You know what? Reading the responses to JK on twitter I am struck by many things, but one thing in particular.

The posters are truly unhinged. I don't mean that I simply disagree with them and don't like what they're saying, of course I do. But the low quality of their arguments, their rants, the vulgar language.

We know body dysmorphia and fetishism is behind all of this. These are mental condtions, and are often accompanied by mental disorders. This becomes so apparent when you read their maniac, illogical rants.

These people need help, not judicial rulings like this.

TheChampagneGalop · 19/12/2019 15:11

Rowling says that you shouldn't get fired for stating that biological sex is real. It's not really controversial, is it? The average person understands that sex and identity are two different things. But somehow, it gets twisted into "hate against trans people."
It reminds me of some abusive people with personality disorders who I have known, who will twist everything you say.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/12/2019 15:12

The person comparing a pen name with a trans identity is obviously struggling a bit...

TheChampagneGalop · 19/12/2019 15:14

For JK if you are reading this thread Flowers Cake🥂💪

OkayGo · 19/12/2019 15:14

The world has gone utterly bonkers. I read those replies and I am just stunned. Is it social media that has done this? How does the insanity spread so quickly?

FloraGreysteel · 19/12/2019 15:15

That's fantastic!

53rdWay · 19/12/2019 15:16

JK Rowling: "Live your best life in peace and security"
A thousand people on Twitter: "WHY DO YOU HATE TRANS PEOPLE AND WANT THEM TO DIE?"

It's so odd.

Saw someone on Twitter earlier today (can't find the tweet now annoyingly) saying that it seems like trans people are seen as the embodiment of a belief system, so criticism of the belief system is seen as exactly the same thing as attacks on the people who hold it, "your ideology doesn't make sense to me" is read as "you as a person should not exist". It's the clearest explanation I've seen I suppose but it's still bonkers. Since when did we all collectively decide that disagreeing with someone means you hate them and want them dead?

theflushedzebra · 19/12/2019 15:16

Her tweet was so mild, and reasonable - the unhinged misogynistic abuse she's getting from it is insane.

It's disturbing how abuse of women on twitter is becoming so normalised.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/12/2019 15:16

Ds is going on the Harry Potter studio tour in February for his birthday. His birthday was in October but it was booked up.
And you know what, the blue hairs can rage all they want, it won't be any less booked up a year from now as a result of this! Grin

goldfinchfan · 19/12/2019 15:17

The TRA's never seem t regret that they can't have painful periods, or unwanted pregnancy scares.
They don't have to face menopause or their hormones giving them PMT

So what parts of being a woman do they identify with?

And is it now illegal to actually say that a person with a penis is a man by sex? but also can choose to dress and call themselves a woman I don't mind. I am not anti trans but I do want freedom to speak as I find. Is that illegal now?

RoyalCorgi · 19/12/2019 15:17

Great piece from James Kirkup.

Wish I could find a way of thanking Rowling for speaking up. It takes guts.
