Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

Glitch

That is perfect Grin

HandsOffMyRights · 20/12/2019 15:13

But, but Gregor has glittery Converse so MUST not be male!

BarbaraStrozzi · 20/12/2019 15:13

Nor, for that matter, was Philip/Pips Bunce one of Maya's colleague (Bunce "presents" as a man most of the time but goes to work at Credit Suisse a couple of days a week wearing a dress - usually the sort of dress no woman would get away with wearing and being taken seriously in a professional context).

Glitch Grin

Was reminded of this gem

"I just do not see the issue. As for whether they have a beard, which was one of the hon. Gentleman's earlier comments, I dare say that some women have beards."
-Layla Moran MP

Hohonoshow · 20/12/2019 15:23

So was there literally no trans work colleague? As a lot of negative opinion seems based on the idea that some poor marginalised workmate was being harassed.

OhHolyJesus · 20/12/2019 15:30

Thanks for that Barbara I thought that was the case. Maya made a general statement about biological sex.

I've just finished ploughing through the LBC coverage and now to BBC iPlayer. It's great for the exposure, to think a year or 18 months ago no-one in my life knew what I was talking about, at least that has changed, more will come in 2020.

GrinitchSpinach · 20/12/2019 15:44

So was there literally no trans work colleague?

Clair Quentin appeared as a witness for the CGD, to testify to the harm/distress CQ felt when Maya posted things on Twitter (not tagging CQ in or making any reference to CQ). I thought CQ was employed by CGD at the time but I can't find reference to it now. Here's the bio:

AnotherLass · 20/12/2019 15:57

I don't think that Clair Quentin ever worked at GCD

They worked in the same area (tax law) and obviously there is some mixing at conferences and things. Clair said they'd resigned from a panel at some conference because Maya was to be included in it. But I've never seen a mention of them working for the same organisation, and I'd be very surprised if Quentin would have worked for the GCD, which is ideologically very much not where they are coming from

AnotherLass · 20/12/2019 15:58

Sorry when I wrote GCD I meant CGD obviously

Clymene · 20/12/2019 16:13

The offended trans colleague story has been made up to give credibility to people saying that Maya is a terrible transphobic person. Because clearly the truth shows she's anything but.

That doesn't fit the prevailing narrative though. And we all know a lie will have gone twice round twitter before the truth has got its trousers on.

Datun · 20/12/2019 16:50

That doesn't fit the prevailing narrative though. And we all know a lie will have gone twice round twitter before the truth has got its trousers on.

But it will get its trousers on.

And when the lie is shown up for the deliberate deceit it is, the credibility of the people trying to perpetrate it vanishes.

And a few more hundred thousand people wake up.

I am not joining Twitter just to get involved in this thread but it has a fair amount of misunderstanding between two well-meaning men (David Colquhoun and a science teacher):

Datun · 20/12/2019 16:51

Didn't Clair say quite a lot of stuff that the judge clearly disagreed with, and then tried to get reporting of it all censored? Including on here?

MadamBatty · 20/12/2019 16:55

Can anyone post the sharetoken to the Times article? I didn’t have time to read earlier & I can’t find it now. Thanks a mil

Oh dear.
"cis males who ignore the rules rather than trans-women who are subverting them"

Yaniv - ignoring or subverting?

And the intersex stuff Angry
Someone should introduce them to Claire Graham. Sadly, Twitter has suspended her again, but her blog is still up.

Datun · 20/12/2019 17:23

@KizzyWayfarer and anyone else, for the avoidance of doubt, this is part of maya's new crowdfunding statement.

Despite what you may have heard or read I did not lose my job for "misgendering" anyone at work, or outside of it. In fact the only instance that was presented to the tribunal happened in June this year (after I lost my job) where I tweeted about Gregor Murray and forgot to use the pronoun they.

shedquarters · 20/12/2019 17:24

Briefly registered on Twitter to show JKR some support, but deregistered after a bit. What a vile bear-pit of mental it is. Had a good laugh at Julie Blindel charging the mob, like a pirate with her cutlass held high. She is fab. Also Debbie Hayton calmly explaining to 'heart broken' Harry Potter fans that Hogworts and magic is not real. Bless.

NotTerfNorCis · 20/12/2019 17:25

This really bugs me that TRAs have to lie about what Maya was accused of because the truth doesn't suit. They are either knowingly lying or living in a fantasy world.

shedquarters · 20/12/2019 17:27

womanrey · 20/12/2019 17:28

I thought Luke Skywalker stood up to the might of the empire because he believed what was right. Very disappointed in you Mark Hamill.

I've just seen the latest Star Wars. We have no need for 'heros' like Hamill. Rey is all that he/Luke isn't. No spoilers, but this film could have been written especially for us women battling this misogynistic transideology. Star Wars is all about males overcoming rage and violent and dangerous mental/emotional instability. But also that good can prevail and as it says #wearenotalone #therearemoreofusthanthem. I hope it strikes a real chord with girls and women, and some boys and men too.

I stuck a woman=adult human female sticker in the toilets :)

I think we will have to weather quite an onslaught of defensive/ unthinking/unstable/misogynistic emotional DARVO laden abuse, but agree with PPs that truth and sanity will prevail in the end. I'm not really one for cheesy lines but we have to believe in the support that we have and create here and elsewhere in RL.

Thank you Maya and JK. Would like the tweet if I had twitter Flowers

'Also Debbie Hayton calmly explaining to 'heart broken' Harry Potter fans that Hogworts and magic is not real. Bless.'

Debbie is a teacher, I think? Probably used to dealing with overwrought teens.

ArranUpsideDown · 20/12/2019 17:36

Someone should introduce them to Claire Graham. Sadly, Twitter has suspended her again, but her blog is still up.

I see someone has (and tagged in Emma Hilton as well but she might not have seen the @ depending on who she follows?) but it doesn't seem to have helped as it doesn't look like David Colquhoun took the time to read the piece.

Some much for skeptics and science if his takeaway is that Claire G is ignoring her own genetics.
