Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

I think it was Joe Rogan who I heard explain that there is a Twitter settings option that allows you to only get notifications from people you follow.

Blue ticks who get 25,000 comments can thus choose to only see the few comments from their actual friends/peers.

I don’t really use Twitter but I did sign in to like JK’s tweet 🤗

mcduffy · 20/12/2019 09:23

Did anyone see the US Spectator spoof? spectator.us/jk-rowling-terf/

HandsOffMyRights · 20/12/2019 09:23

Welcome Betaboo
There are plenty of threads on the Feminism board where you can learn all about this 'debate' including a 'Break it down for me' thread.

The TRAs do love to mass debate Grin

Uncompromisingwoman · 20/12/2019 09:23

Agreed about the difficulties of getting regulatory capture out of the system. The TRAs are fully embedded everywhere, supported by the well funded gravy train and doubling down on ensuring that the judiciary remain on side and 'on message'.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/12/2019 09:25

The problem I think with getting regulatory capture out of the institutions is that it will take the rights and protections of other minority groups with it.

Why? What other minority group's rights are in conflict with other groups? (the fact women aren't a minority makes the destruction of women's rights worse, not ok!)

Binterested · 20/12/2019 09:26

Dame Helena Morrissey was chair of the judging panel that named the FT Top 100 Women in Business that included three men - one of which was Philip Bunce aka Pippa. (MNHQ I think I am allowed to say this as PB is clearly a man according to PB on at least some days of the week).

I don’t suppose Dame Helena really thinks TWAW - I imagine she lent her name to the panel and then did bugger all and paid no attention to the outcome (those names were I guess, placed there by one of the other panellists who was an LGBT recruiter). I hope she feels embarrassed.

myfavouriterain · 20/12/2019 09:26

Bloody heel that Twitter feed. I have No doubt she knew what would happen. GO JK.

CaveMum · 20/12/2019 09:29

The fab @fondofbeetles has just tweeted this picture by artist @TatsuyaIshida9, a California based artist.

MarianaMoatedGrange · 20/12/2019 09:29

Mark Hamil is like Robert Webb in that if he showed any public support for this he would never work again.
It's just not worth it to them. Spineless cowards.

Hate to be even more of a Debbie Downer but there is a very real possibility that the backlash won't just take down queer theory and trans privileges. I am very fearful of the consequences for homosexual people when (and it is a when) it happens.

Concur. Lesbians will be worried about out of the frying pan and into the fire, which is something we het feminists must be aware of and ready for.

I think that the political representatives of gay men have been arrogant and shortsighted (and misogynistic). Not fit to lead. They didn't think sacrificing women would have any comeback on them. I hope gay men desert them in droves for the LGBAlliance.

Devereux1 · 20/12/2019 09:30

WTF?! I didn't know that. Thank you for that information.

LangCleg · 20/12/2019 09:32

Is this a follow the money scenario? Who gains from this?

Partly, yes. Genderism is a hyper capitalist movement, creating new market segments to drive post-industrial profits.

Also: queer theory/postmodern dominance in the liberal academy, which produces the graduates who staff the top of civic and third sector institutions.

ironicname · 20/12/2019 09:33

JK Rowling states what is obvious and scientifically, biologically true and the media go mad.

I just don't understand Trans, why do they demand us all to pretend they are something they are not? It is madness.

BarbaraStrozzi · 20/12/2019 09:34

If JK has any sense (and I think she has a huge amount of sense), she won't be reading it herself. She'll get a PA/image management company to monitor.

Then summarise - this many likes, this many positive comments, this many negative ones, selection from people you know, etc. Perhaps with a brief to report any tweets which look like credible threats of real world violence to the police.

(There's a great bit in Gaudy Night where Harriet Vane reflects on the fact that one of her wisest decisions has been to employ a secretary to open her mail and weed out the hate mail so she doesn't have to see it).

LangCleg · 20/12/2019 09:34

The backlash of public opinion due to the T's aggressive conflation with LGB.

Sentiment analysis. Plenty of companies offering this to businesses and celebs.

Wherearemyminions · 20/12/2019 09:35

Liked and retweeted, fuck it, if ever there was a time to go over the top it's now, courage calls and all that. Might just turn phone off and go and have a long walk this morning!

Datun · 20/12/2019 09:38

I sincerely hope she doesn't just ignore these. I can't help thinking that the police wold be quite swift in taking jK Rowling seriously. And we need these threats dealt with.

ChattyLion · 20/12/2019 09:40

Well. To all the people who scoffed and said that gender critical women were exaggerating or being unkind when we pointed to the culture war going on for the past few years, waged by entitled male narcissists and their flying monkeys against women who make ANY resistance against their encroachment, however factual, mild and tiny that might be... JKR has only said she supports women’s rights not to be sacked for saying biological sex is real.
And this is the shitstorm she gets for that!

Maya has only defended her right to tell the truth and not be out of work because of that.

OF COURSE SEX IS REAL. AND OF COURSE WOMEN MUST BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK FACTS WITHOUT GETTING SACKED.. for fucks sake!!

Only someone with a very limited grasp of reality or a massive grudge against women, or both, would EVER argue against that. And yet look at them all frothing away..Sad

littlbrowndog · 20/12/2019 09:41

Duncan bannatyne has agreed with JK

GO JK

shedquarters · 20/12/2019 09:46

Reading the twitter and other comments sections is car crash reading, you can't help but look. There seems to be a theme around something deeply rotten about British feminists / those born in the 1970's / poor things they just don't know what they are saying /they are so sexually repressed they don't understand sexual fluidity / they are puritanical.

I think back to my younger days and hope I wasn't so sanctimonious, arrogant, patronising, deeply irritating Nellie-Know-All. I probably was, but at least in those days it wasn't in print in the public domain lasting for all eternity, digitally beamed into space for extraterrestrials to look at and scratch their heads.
What a nightmare. I actually feel sorry for people who are going to have a permanent record of their most stupid moments.

Young people - you didn't invent sex.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/12/2019 09:48

The backlash of public opinion due to the T's aggressive conflation with LGB.

I'm not convinced the general public has fallen for that - I certainly hope not.
