Dress however you please.
Call yourself whatever you like.
Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you.
Live your best life in peace and security.
But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?

@theflushedzebra that was a great (scary!) video

IfNot · 20/12/2019 08:48

God. Twitter is another planet isn't it?! In RL I can only think of one or two people who might think JK was "transphobic" but most people would just go, yeah. Obvs. Men aren't women.

From the Twitterverse all I can think is that a lot of women care a lot more about whether men approve of them than they do about other women, or about children being medical experiments. They are the same kind of women who write to serial killers and rapists in jail. Self hating females.
It's also SHOCKING how much more piled on women get than men. It really is "burn the witch" isn't it? I hope JK knows that out in the real world everyone knows she talks sense, and that she tells the loons to kiss her arse.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 20/12/2019 08:53

Isn't there a age requirement to have a twitter account?

Why do I have the feeling many of the people commenting are 14 or younger?

Butchyrestingface · 20/12/2019 08:54

Why do I have the feeling many of the people commenting are 14 or younger?

They’re not. It’s just the age they stop mentally maturing at.

FloraGreysteel · 20/12/2019 08:55

@Butchyrestingface zing!Grin

I think all this shows that something ought to be done about twitter. There's been a warning shot across the bows before, but I think it is time for government to start suggesting legislation in order to force twitter to clean up its act.

Social media giants hide behind the idea they are a platform; that's how they get away with this. Governments need to treat them as publishers. If they did, most of this shit would stop overnight.

Binterested · 20/12/2019 08:56

If, as JK shows us, we can win the argument on numbers even on Twitter with their bias and de boosting tricks then how much easier should it be to win the argument in real life where people know men can’t be women?

It’s the regulatory capture I’m scratching my head over. How do we shed sunlight on the capture of the ECHR, NHS, civil service etc where policy is being made in rooms that Stonewall has access to and nobody else does.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 20/12/2019 08:57

Mystery solved then!

14 is their collective IQ chardonnay.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 20/12/2019 09:00

I very much hope JKR gives not a tiny rat's arse about the shit storm but I have anyway emailed her agent (from my real email in my real name, go me) to pass on my appreciation. Just to balance out the crazy really in case her agent is trembling in his shoes Grin

JK's tweet is the epitome of 'brave and stunning' by the huge response it garnered alone! the wokerati are beside themselves with fury.

betaboo · 20/12/2019 09:05

Thank you to JK and Mumsnet for making me aware of this, I live abroad and had not heard about the court case, I am still scratching my head as to what the judge was thinking, ludicrous.

I have just donated to Maya's crowdfunding, first time in my life I have donated to something like this.

It explains the sea of badly spelled anime memes and the avalanche of gifs punctuated by the occasional profound comment like "Wow hater" by someone with a cat avatar. There is no individuality there. even the hate is collectively prescribed.

It would be funny if it wasn't so terrifying.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 20/12/2019 09:10

Twitter is another planet isn't it?

Pretty much. Only 10% of the population or something use Twitter. People who spend their lives on it have very warped ideas of what most people think.

It cannot be stressed enough that most people do not think TWAW or that humans can change sex. There are certain work environments where it isn't acceptable/safe to state this openly but most of the public just aren't on board with trans ideology.

LangCleg · 20/12/2019 09:14

It's instructive that even with their pile-on organising, their blocklists and their bots, they can't ratio JK when it's them vs the general population. Only when it's feminists vs the general population. When the real world consequences of this seep into the public consciousness, the real world Does Not Like It.

Institutional capture is extensive and deep. Even when the inevitable backlash of public opinion and political awareness reaches critical mass, it's going to take a decade to get queer theory capture out of institutions. (Sorry to be a Debbie Downer about this bit, but it is.)

MarianaMoatedGrange · 20/12/2019 09:15

Agree that Twitter is mostly a bubble, but a high profile tweet like JK's soon reaches MSM and thus a far wider public.

Grafittiqueen · 20/12/2019 09:16

All my likes on tweets supportive of JK Rowling disappear before my eyes. They won't stick. Is twitter trying to make it seem like there's less support than there actually is for jk?

MarianaMoatedGrange · 20/12/2019 09:17

Institutional capture is extensive and deep

Is this a follow the money scenario? Who gains from this?

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 20/12/2019 09:17

Hate to be even more of a Debbie Downer but there is a very real possibility that the backlash won't just take down queer theory and trans privileges. I am very fearful of the consequences for homosexual people when (and it is a when) it happens.

I don't usually wear jewellery to work, but today is definitely the day to dig out my Deathly Hallows necklace. Grin

Devereux1 · 20/12/2019 09:18

Why is Dame Helena Morrisey so quiet on this topic? She has been very "pro women" in many of her tweets recently, especially when she was going for the Bank of England job.

But she remains silent on attacks on women such as this. I fully understand if she is afraid of career ruination, being struck off committees, threats etc - I know I am too - but she has been vocal about other anti-women threats for which she got backlash, I wonder why she is not speaking out for us on this?

fuckitywhy · 20/12/2019 09:19

Twitter admins are TRAs - you bet they're gaming the system.

DecemberDays · 20/12/2019 09:19

The problem I think with getting regulatory capture out of the institutions is that it will take the rights and protections of other minority groups with it.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 20/12/2019 09:21

I just googled JKR's net worth. Estimate is £650million. She dropped off the billionaire list because she gives so much away to charity.

So yeah, pile on all you like you blue haired baboons. She's really not going to give a shit, is she?

Xmas Grin
