have expressed potentially transphobic views like Rowling’s, saying that it’s not possible to change biological sex
And people will skim read to this part and think "what"
The weird thing is that many people just won't notice how stupid that sounds. Some apparently-twitter-famous doctor has replied to her saying
I’m not here to cancel JK Rowling as a person and stoke mob outrage. I’m just here to educate and inform. Trans rights are human rights and trans women are women. Also, white feminism can sometimes intersect with trans exclusion or white supremacy, which is unjust
Also, It is both a scientific and medical fact that intersex individuals do exist and gender is not as binary as mainstream society is set to believe. There have been documented cases of patients born with genetically male 46 XY karyotype who have gotten pregnant and gave birth
None of these point have any relevance to Maya or JK saying "you cannot change biological sex". None of what he said refutes that. And this is a supposedly educated and medically trained individual. And his tweets have 11k likes. It's bizarre.
People are very blinkered on this issue, I think.
