Reading Sharron's tweets, this level of pure nonsense made me snort, and I am on a conference call so that was embarrassing...

That is one dimension missed by the twitter mob - Gregor Murray has form in Scotland, and JK will be aware of who he is due to her being resident in Edinburgh and active in Scottish politics.

While I agree that saying things that hurt people should be avoided, freedom of speech has suffered a set-back in the UK, never experienced in it's History. MN seems to get a healthy balance, I remember seing a notice in the University Hall, that said "Swearing" "not everyone likes to hear it?". What people do as consenting adults, so long as it's within the law, is their business, "Not every one likes to hear about it" Children should persue their own religion, idealogy, or sexuality, without Teachers, Parents, or the media forcing it into their heads. this is not to say parents should not bring their Children up as Muslim's. Christian's, Catholic's, or other.

Michael Shermer of Sceptic magazine has just tweeted about the over medicalisation of trans kids. While it's not about Maya, I think it's significant that he has chosen to do it now. Shermer has a reasonable sized following - nearly two hundred thousand followers.

(I personally think he's endorsed some rubbish so I'm rather wary of him - like pseudo scientific claims about cattle and soil carbon. But this is good)

This is the beauty of these two court cases. And any subsequent ones. It's going to be a win/win. If they lose the court case, the resulting publicity will send the issue into the stratosphere.
