So there's a private, gender neutral, changing room available but this individual is choosing not to use it, because their feelings are more important than those of women who don't want someone with male genitals changing alongside them.

Thescrewinthetuna · 30/10/2019 14:58

Well done Center Parcs

ErrolTheDragon · 30/10/2019 14:59

The Center Parcs policy appears to be in potential contradiction to UK equalities law

Sounds more like it's a rare instance of them upholding it.

OvaHere · 30/10/2019 15:02

Common sense from Center Parcs. I expect they know their customer base!

picklemebrains · 30/10/2019 15:03

Stand firm CP!

Apart from anything else, isn't CP mainly cubicles anyway? So they are pushing to use the female communal area rather than the neutral majority? I may be misremembering, as I usually had children with me.

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 30/10/2019 15:09

Yes, Center Parcs know which side their bread is buttered I think!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 30/10/2019 15:10

This is brilliant, well done Center Parcs screw you Flora. Still.

And the blatant incorrect info on the equality act. Hilarious Grin

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 30/10/2019 15:20

The Center Parcs policy appears to be in potential contradiction to UK equalities law, which protects trans people’s right to use the single-sex space corresponding to their gender identity.

This is not true, is it?

testing987654321 · 30/10/2019 15:22

Good job centreparcs!!

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/10/2019 15:26

Well done Center Parcs.

Private third space provided, single sex spaces preserved, everybody's needs met.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/10/2019 15:27

I'm not sure they are upholding the equality act. Aren't changing rooms exempted from the twaw thing - I thought they were allowed to be single sex spaces.

Centre Parcs seem to be saying that if the TW has a GRC then they can use female spaces, and I don't think that is correct.

birdsdestiny · 30/10/2019 15:28

Center Parc changing is unisex isn't it? Or the one I go to is. Am sure I am not imagining this.
Toilets are segregated.

DeRigueurMortis · 30/10/2019 15:28

Yes - well done CP.

Re: confusion wrt the changing rooms.

The swim change areas are all cubicles and unisex.

As such I think they must be referring to the changing areas in the spa (which is basically open plan single sex).

Gingerkittykat · 30/10/2019 15:29

Well done Centre Parcs, lets hope the TRA backlash doesn't make them backtrack.

I don't imagine TRAs are their core market though so hopefully their decision will stand.

CunningOperative · 30/10/2019 15:29

If anyone has a spare minute, please send CP a quick email. Positive feedback is just as important as negative.

birdsdestiny · 30/10/2019 15:30

Oh ok I had forgotten about the spa.

Glenthezombiebattlingostrich · 30/10/2019 15:31

I'm off to email them to say thank you

LonginesPrime · 30/10/2019 15:32

This is the first time I've seen a company differentiate between sex and gender. Their statement from the article:

"Having single sex changing facilities is in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and we ask that guests use the changing facilities appropriate to their legally defined sex.

"If guests wish to use changing facilities appropriate to their gender, we will always speak to them to see what options are available to them, while taking into account and balancing the interests of other guests. We do offer all of our guests the option to use a private changing facility to ensure that all guests and visitors can use the spa."

TitianaTitsling · 30/10/2019 15:34

Oh Centre Parcs, l think l know who we'll be booking future UK holidays with! Thank you!

Newuser123123 · 30/10/2019 15:36

OkayGoooouuuuuullllll · 30/10/2019 15:38

Am so glad I can still use center parcs!!

itispersonal · 30/10/2019 15:41

Brilliant centre parcs! Obviously written by a woman.

All people included.

Though TW will still probably say it singles them out Hurt feelings etc etc

Waterl00 · 30/10/2019 16:09

Thanks Center Parcs.

I do not want to bump into Hodges in the open plan spa changing rooms. Don't really care if that upsets Hodges. I don't want to bump into any other legally male person changing in there so I am not singling Hodges out.

DuchessMustard · 30/10/2019 16:19

Brilliant. I have been considering Centre Parcs as my kids are just becoming really confident in the water. This decision gives me confidence in booking it for next year.

TirisfalPumpkin · 30/10/2019 16:21

Legends. I could actually just fancy some quality forest time.
