Thank you Centre Parcs.

Pota2 · 30/10/2019 17:53

That’s pretty horrific. Fucking hell. However if people mention AGP, everyone says that it’s not a thing. I think it is but even if it wasn’t, it’s still not appropriate for women to have to get changed with male bodied people. If it was, all changing rooms would be fully unisex but they’re not. A body is externally male or female and this is the bit that matters rather than someone’s feelings or identity. We don’t tend to speak to people we share facilities with so a male body with a female mind is perceived exactly the same as a male body with a male mind (obv I don’t believe in male and female minds but anyhoo...)

There is this myth that obtaining a GRC is arduous and expensive. Almost akin to the oft quoted suicide states.

I cant help thinking that when these people get older and need a Power Of Attorney, they will get a shock. Price is about the same, and a pretty unavoidable cost. s is obtaining a passport.

Yes getting a GRC is not easy, but it should not be. To protect both the applicant and the public, though even then our flying lawyer claims it was a simple process for her. Why should someone assume they have a right to access changing room with potentially unsupervised children, simply because they claim to feel they are a woman.

Has this person no understanding of the concerns of other parents. Surely as a woman they would understand that child safety is paramount, even if it means a bit of inconvenience for adults. .

SleepyKat · 30/10/2019 17:54

Well done centre parcs.

Problem is though if that person went into the female changing area dressed chances are nobody will challenge them. If they haven’t transitioned nobody will know until there’s potentially male genitals on display. Which is too late. And which is why I’m not keen on communal changing rooms.

Datun · 30/10/2019 17:57

Centre Parcs is the go to destination for people with children. It's hardly surprising that they are going to drill down into the law to make sure that they are not a magnet for predators. (I'm not suggesting transwomen are predators, HQ, before you get your ear bent).

Anyone who requires women or children to be made uncomfortable to validate themself is a problem.

Good for centre parcs. If they are reading this, you can still exclude people even with a GRC.

Ereshkigal · 30/10/2019 18:00

and look no different in the changing rooms

I won't cite any cases of specific people who claim to have a GRC but this simply isn't true. And no you don't need surgery.

Dawn Butler has become a real TWAW rent-a-quote. Perhaps she thinks her stance will win Labour the election. In this article she seems, essentially to be suggesting that the Government should have ignored the massive response to the GRA reform consultation. A sort of: women oppose reform, but they are only women so should be ignored, approach.

I think they are massively expensive but me and a friend are considering taking our kids next year in support.

superram · 30/10/2019 18:08

I’ve also emailed.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 30/10/2019 18:10

I've emailed.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 30/10/2019 18:11

Sadly I won't use Center Parcs as activity holidays are beyond me now. But I have plenty of friends who will or might. I'll drop CP an email to say how much I appreciate the policy.

PoweringUp · 30/10/2019 18:15

Well done Centre Parcs, we visit every year as it’s excellent for children with SN, this ensures we will be back.

Oh we've never been to CentreParcs but keen to support companies taking a common sense approach like this, will definitely consider booking with them now.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 30/10/2019 18:35

Great ratio on that article on pink news' Twatter. Not one tweet in agreement that I could see.

This has made me think I might need a CP weekend.

Datun · 30/10/2019 18:36

Aimee Challenor tweeted from Centre Parcs last year at the exact time that the outcome of the Veritas report into the Green Party was due out.

Indeed. And they are about to marry someone who is quite upfront about how they are sexually attracted to children.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 30/10/2019 18:38

Well done Centre Parcs, we visit every year as it’s excellent for children with SN,

Really? Anything specific?

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 30/10/2019 18:43

Just looked and found this thread

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/10/2019 18:45

Thanks for the heads up. Email sent. Been to center parcs several times.

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/10/2019 18:45

I was just going to look at the PN twitter, but one of the lead articles is about how 85% of queer people are possessed by ghosts. So now I'm going to edge quietly away.

Michelleoftheresistance · 30/10/2019 18:52

Oh dear. On the Twitter feed, information on the Equality Act has been hidden by Twitter under a 'sensitive content' screen.

Seriously. The law is too triggering and offensive to be publicly displayed.

Thanks for the email address Katvon - I've emailed as well and also reminded them that a person with a GRA may have had no medical intervention at all.

Floisme · 30/10/2019 19:00

Thank you Centre Parcs.
Absurd that I am thanking an organisation simply for upholding the law but this is where we are so I will say it again. Thank you Centre Parcs.
