On Facebook.

Local Facebook page, a man posts a discussion about Prolife protesters outside abortion clinics. A picture of himself with a sign saying 'screw these guys', pointing to the Prolifers.

He then proceeds to lecture women thinking about counter protesting, saying sometimes it makes the situation worse (yet he posts a photo of himself clearly antagonising the prolifers at a previous protest Hmm )

I point out to people thinking about counter protesting, with a particular group who are mentioned, that the prochoice group hold certain views about gender that conflict with my own.
That they believe the word woman should not be used on placards as 'people of all genders use abortion services'
Obviously it's just women that use abortion services.

So a sign stating 'A woman's womb is no ones business but her own' would not be allowed. It would have to say 'A person's womb is no ones business but their own'

Anyway. I was blocked by the OP.

This below was the reason.

Funnily enough, before he blocked me I received around a DOZEN likes from Women agreeing with what I said. They also believe that the word woman is Not dirty and should be a use able word in relation to abortion services.

Yet this man think he knows better than them and me.

He blocked me again before I could reply.

Argh.

I've just been called a TERF...

Can’t voice an opinion to the men. They might not like it. No dissent in the ranks.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 29/09/2019 19:03

When you run back and say "look, I told those other women off for you!", otoh, that can yield a response that some may find emotionally satisfying.

Ereshkigal · 29/09/2019 19:12

It's good that you didn't challenge the idea that you were ignoring or dismissing women's privacy, dignity and comfort. Or that transgenderism is a toxic sexist ideology.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2019 20:01

Saying that someone has to use a separate bathroom is not persecution

I'm not even saying TW have to use a 'separate' bathroom - if there were mixed sex facilities in addition to the single sex ones then I might well use the mixed sex as I'm sure karka would to. Single sex for those that need them, and mixed sex for anyone who doesn't want to use the one corresponding to their sex, or who isn't bothered either way, or parents with opposite sex kids etc etc - why paint that as a negative? (BTW, using horribly transphobic language like 'freak' - I assume trying to imply that's how we see trans people - is thoroughly disreputable tactic)

TheAlternativeTentacle · 29/09/2019 21:48

Kark, can you please tell me, what is it that makes that rapist a woman?

Aberhonddu · 29/09/2019 22:44

It's quite telling that on a thread about the word terf , the most deletions are for a person that's telling all these terfly women how awful and mean they are.
Karkasaurus
NEWSFLASH. human beings cannot change sex.
You really are doing Transpeople a disservice here, trans people exist, they are real people, they can probably do without your trans fucking wokey cokey goodwill and your determination to single them out as special, I'll bet most just want to get on with their lives without some fucking do gooder that is determined to raise their own awareness.
All people have their own battles to fight. Let them fight it.
This board is known as FWR, Feminist Women's Rights. That's why the posters on here fight over and over again to protect Women's rights,
In a way, it's interesting that you see fighting for women's rights as anti trans, that really shows where your priorities lie, I'll give you a clue, your internalised misogyny is showing, you're centering men in your version of feminism

.

Aberhonddu · 29/09/2019 22:48

Oh dear, I wrote terfly not terfy.
I'm an out and proud terf.

AleFailTrail · 29/09/2019 23:41

Karkasaurus henceforth my comment about being a PERF. Not excluding trans. Not being sexist. Just excluding the Penis from some spaces

FWRLurker · 30/09/2019 04:44

Karka none of the many men I work with are criminals. I have never felt threatened by them. Yet we don’t share bathrooms or changing facilities. I wonder why that is.

Well surely it is because they don’t share womanly feminine inner essence feelings with you, whereas Karen White et al on the other hand do. Surely it makes perfect sense?

I know that if I found out the person using the loo next to me was thinking Manly Masculine thoughts I would get extremely embarrassed and ask to have him removed. After all my dignity and privacy are important as are theirs as a man. The fact that they appear physically female has no bearing, I mean as a good feminist I know that policing how “masculine” someone’s appearance is would be extremely wrong.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/09/2019 10:10

I mean as a good feminist I know that policing how “masculine” someone’s appearance is would be extremely wrong.

I'm pretty sure Kark's implication that 'passing' made a difference is considered by some to be quite transphobic too?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/09/2019 13:23

Why would any half decent feminist strive to be classed as ‘good’? Yuk. There, good girl 🐶

ErrolTheDragon · 30/09/2019 13:43

Grindefinition 2 'having the required qualities; of a high standard.' Not definition 1 'to be desired or approved of.' And best not get into 3 'that which is morally right; righteousness.'

HumberElla · 30/09/2019 14:25

It's this crazy thing called being friends with trans people in real life. It's quite astonishing. You should try it

This rather smacks of ‘some of my best friends are’ [insert characteristic here]. Cringe.

You are assuming, rather naively, that posters here don’t have close friends, relatives, children and colleagues who are trans. People we love. People in our communities. And many of these people are having their lives blighted by those like Kark, who can only throw out insults and flippant comments whilst pushing an extremist point of view.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 30/09/2019 15:36

Some people do like having a 'token' friend through. Brownie points.

"This is my friend Joe. Has everyone met my friend Joe? They are trans/gay/atheist/black/white/muslim/double jointed..."

Pota2 · 30/09/2019 16:08

Exactly, HumberElla, most of these things make a mockery of the struggle that people with gender dysphoria have. Some white guy with a beard wearing suit and tie claiming that he is a woman and proudly having a ‘female penis’ and claiming to be oppressed? Get to fuck.
And as for TWAW, what does it actually mean? Nothing at all. If you can’t define what a woman is, how can you determine whether someone is one or not?

lisah987 · 30/09/2019 17:05

I saw this hilarious article earlier which sends the whole trans debate up in terms of whether tomatoes are fruit or vegetables. So TERFs are Tomato-Exclusionary Radical Fruitarians:
medium.com/@tomato2m80/are-tomatoes-totally-fruit-211185999570

BloodSugar · 30/09/2019 20:01

I wonder how many of these straight trans-ally men would suck a 'ladies cock' ?

Or do they just expect the 'lesbians' to do that? funny how most transwomen are lesbians isn't it? They don't want to suck cock but expect other women to Hmm

BloodSugar · 30/09/2019 20:03

And if transwomen really are women why are they so intent on getting bio women to have relationships with them? Surely they would be happy to have sex with other transwomen? So the dating pool must be brimming for them in the community?

Or do they want 'real' women?

How transphobic!!

Aberhonddu · 30/09/2019 23:36

The difference between wisdom and knowledge.
Knowledge is to know that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.
We all know the difference, we all know who 'passes' NOBODY, I've been polite but no more.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 30/09/2019 23:40

Knowledge is to know that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.

Stealing this.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 01/10/2019 09:58

That tomato article is excellent.

Especially the very last line about the under ripe. Yup.

DuMondeB · 01/10/2019 11:04

Ooh, I know who exactly this person is. Might’ve described him as a friend at one point, but woketh bloketh blindness appears to have struck down his critical faculties, so it clearly needs reevaluating.

lisah987 · 01/10/2019 12:00

It shows how a lot of it is just silly arguments about words and meanings and what people want to call themselves. And with ridiculous consequences. A tomato is only kind of a fruit and kind of a vegetable (but mainly a vegetable).

lisah987 · 01/10/2019 12:03

A tomato is what it is. Mostly a vegetable, kind of a fruit for some purposes. It's the practical consequences that matter, not what people want to call themselves.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/10/2019 13:03

I see we can add Helen Mirren to the ‘dingbat’ list. Ho hum.
