Thoughtful insights into how some women get drawn into the wrong side of the debate.

There is no single form of feminism. We don't have to answer for other people.

So why the pages of demanding Roses define feminism then?

If everyone has a different view then how can "feminism" mean anything? For some it will mean being against make up, high heels, marrying men and having children (apparently).

What version of feminism are you referring to when you mention it? How can we have a discussion on here if no one knows what exactly a poster is referring to when they talk about feminism?

popehilarious · 31/07/2019 23:15

But it's not about make up - it's about women thinking that they have the right to criticise other women for what they wear, how they look, who they choose to have relationships with, what opinions they hold

Hang on - do you seriously think that a person cannot be criticised by women for any opinion they hold because they are a woman?
Neo-nazis, we're meant to be ok with? People who think Trump is a decent guy? Gender-critical women shouldn't be criticised by other women?

Cohle · 31/07/2019 23:15

I didnt say they should use a different board, Cohle. I suggested they could, in case they felt they wouldn't get fair debate here.

Sure. That's what you meant. Hmm

Gosh, it's almost like you only care about no platforming when it's GC feminists who are being silenced.

sackrifice · 31/07/2019 23:17

I bet you haven't

I tried once but it kept getting caught in my sleeves.

Nottheduchess · 31/07/2019 23:17

Spartacus I think it's a shame women feel the need to spend time on make up and hair removal and so on instead of reading and learning, but that's because I value learning more than primping. Horses for courses and all that.

Some of us can do all of those things. We don’t have to chose.

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:17

Yawn, again.

I find that if my hair looks too nice that day, I just wind up flinging books across the room. It's really important to have the appropriate minimum level of grooming before attempting to read.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/07/2019 23:21

I need my beauty sleep.

Night all.

Decomposing ?

No, I think you criticise the view not the person. You counter their views with relevant argument, not by making silly comments, personal insults or criticising their choice of hairstyle or make up.

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:23

Decomposing I'm sure you know Roses was being asked to confirm her own definition of feminism as it was (still is) unclear.

I am far less qualified than many on here to define the different types of feminism but there is a lot of very useful information on this board.

So what was this?

"I bet you haven't"

ThePurported · 31/07/2019 23:27

I missed this whole thread as it's a tad busy at work, but did i read that people are now using Alok as a serious point of reference?

Is that the fella who says that little girls are kinky? I wasn't familiar with them before. You learn something in every thread!

Datun · 31/07/2019 23:29

Kinky and deviant. And the reason he knows is because he's been a little girl too.

And yes, he is held up as an authority by posters.

popehilarious · 31/07/2019 23:30

No, I think you criticise the view not the person.

Ok, so a convo like
Me: "That's a very racist view"
Onlooker: "Is that woman a racist?"
Me: "Do you think racism is bad?"
Onlooker: "Yes"
Me: "Then I'm not allowed to say"

RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 23:30

Decomposing I'm sure you know Roses was being asked to confirm her own definition of feminism as it was (still is) unclear.

No, that's not why I was asked at all.
It was a question you asked to deflect away from one you were asked.
So why are you saying I was asked to confirm my definition as it was unclear?
That's not true. You're twisting again.
Do you think people can't see what is on the thread or something? Confused

popehilarious · 31/07/2019 23:32

Or even "Trans-allyship can be misogynistic"
"That woman is a trans ally, do you think she is misogynistic?"
"I wouldn't like to criticise a fellow woman so instead I'll suggest some reasons why they might form those views"
"MISOGYNIST!"

popehilarious · 31/07/2019 23:33

Are we allowed to criticise the 'person, not the view' if that person's male? This feminism thing is so tricky!

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:35

What question was I asked Roses? Confused.

Sorry, not you, I meant Datuns name not yours.

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:40

I'm pretty sure you were asked to define your personal views, Roses because they've never really been clear. Why not put your cards on the table?

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 23:41

Apols, thought it was Datun not your name ah FFS lol
Anyways, it was nothing to do with I'm sure you know Roses was being asked to confirm her own definition of feminism as it was (still is) unclear
at all, it was a question repeatedly asked to avoid answering one, it was really weird.
Anyways it's there on the thread if you missed it

Datun · 31/07/2019 23:43

Decomposing I'm sure you know Roses was being asked to confirm her own definition of feminism as it was (still is) unclear.

"No, that's not why I was asked at all."

Define feminism, roses.

So rose, do you not want to answer the question what is feminism?

I'm actually asking roses what she means by feminism, since she said asked that how is feminism?

Aaand, roses you still can't define Feminism?

I'm not sure how anyone has the nerve to question the humour in this!

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:43

I saw your definition of feminism but it didn't really tell me much.

OP posts:
RosesAndRaindrops · 31/07/2019 23:50
