I hope she presses charges. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he has form for DV.

It’s absolutely horrifying. The fact he behaved like that in front of hundred+ people, lord only knows what he’s like behind closed doors

He’s getting hammered on Twitter twitter.com/MarkFieldUK

I sent him a few choice words

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 01:19

He looks like a domestic abuser to me

SkintAsASkintThing · 21/06/2019 01:46

Hang on, he grabbed the back of her neck. She had a bag in her hand that she was clutching to her side as she marched purposefully towards them. That bag could have contained a gun or a knife.

We can't have it both ways, we can't behave like idiots then play the weaker sex card when things don't go our way. I don't think he did anything wrong at all, if the protester had been male I still wouldn't have thought he did anything wrong either and it wouldn't be being debated on here.

This shitty free for all of attacking politicians needs to stop. It isn't ok to throw punches, milkshakes, eggs, knives or a million and one other things. And it isn't ever ok to expect people to take it just because theyre politicians. No matter how scummy they are.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/06/2019 01:49

That bag could have contained a gun or a knife.

Anyone's bag could. Shall I just grab randoms by the throat?

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 01:52

play the weaker sex card when things don't go our way

Sorry “play” the weaker sex? Men are physically stronger than women!! On average by 60%!! What he did was assault a woman who couldn’t physically defend herself

This shitty free for all of attacking politicians needs to stop

Attacking?! 😂 Peaceful protest is allowed in this country we are not in China. I think you belong on the Daily Mail trash site not here.

SD1978 · 21/06/2019 01:54

Not condoning- however there is a big difference between being grabbed by the throat- and marched out by the scruff of your neck. Either way I would imagine there will be some pretty big explaining to do.

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 01:56

I’m so thankful for modern technology. Just think that if no one happened to have start filming he would have just gotten away with it.

SkintAsASkintThing · 21/06/2019 01:57

It was the back of her neck. Not her throat.

Given the recent murder of Jo Cox I imagine all politicians are on high alert. Women being the 'weaker sex ' 🙄 Doesn't give us the right to behave like dicks and expect to get away with it.

OkPedro · 21/06/2019 02:01

I agree she was not grabbed by the throat. I still think what he did was wrong though. You don’t put her hands on anyone unless it’s self defense. My young children know that!

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 02:04

Given the recent murder of Jo Cox I imagine all politicians are on high alert

If the site of a woman with a handbag causes him to go into a violent rage because of “fear” then he’s in the wrong job.

Doesn't give us the right to behave like dicks and expect to get away with it

How do you know she was behaving like a “dick” all we can see is her trying to speak to him? That isn’t a fucking crime. It comes are part of the territory of being a politician.

RosaWaiting · 21/06/2019 02:05

The sex of the protester is irrelevant

I get that he might have been worried what was about to happen

But having got the person under control, he didn’t look to security. That I find odd. Even if it was a moment of rage, it was excessive, he should lose his job.

SkintAsASkintThing · 21/06/2019 02:08

She didn't have a particularly pleasant expression on her face as she marched towards him. She could have been about to do anything. Nobody knows what anyones intentions are until we're on the recieving end of them.

If a load of men gatecrashed a WI meeting to cause trouble would we be horrified if women stood up to them or sat here bleating oh no, they shouldn't have done that. They were probably only after a new jam recipe ? 🙄

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 02:12

The sex of the protester is irrelevant

Are you serious?!

I’m so fed up on this bullshit that gender is irrelevant when it comes to violence against women.

Yes it IS relevant, he is able to overpower her physically because of his gender, whereas a man would be able to physically defend himself. That’s WHY he felt emboldened to grab her like that. You think he’d have tried that shit with a 6ft 2 man?! This is why violence against women is so disgustingly prevalent.

Hithere12 · 21/06/2019 02:14

She didn't have a particularly pleasant expression on her face as she marched towards him

Politicians CONSTANTLY, every time they leave their home practically, have people coming up to them! Should they be allowed to drag people around because they’re uncomfortable with it?

WanderingBar · 21/06/2019 02:18

Unless I've only seen part of the video, he didn't grab her by the throat, it was the back of her neck. I'm not saying I agree with what he did, but one is potentially life threatening, the other isn't. Are people making an honest mistake here or purposefully trying to make it sound worse?

BitOfFun · 21/06/2019 02:22

If you watch the longer 29 second clip, you can see that he is putting pressure on her throat.

We'll blame everyone except for the woman who put herself into that position shall we ?? He grabbed her by the neck and marched her out, he didn't punch or kick her. He removed her.

Had there been security there they'd have done much the same..........luckily for me I'm one of the minority of people who had it drummed into me that if I play stupid games I'll win stupid prizes. I can think of a dozen ways of getting a point across that don't involve behaving the way she did.

Magenta82 · 21/06/2019 02:30

She didn't have a particularly pleasant expression on her face as she marched towards him

Fuck me! The punishment for resting bitch face is now apparently assault!

SkintAsASkintThing · 21/06/2019 02:36

Magenta if anyone aggressively marched at me with an unpleasant expression on their face after taking their time to break into a private function I wouldnt expect their intentions to be good ones.

He'll, I'd be wary if they did it on the street. And damn right I'd grab at them if I felt at risk. 🙄

BitOfFun · 21/06/2019 02:51

It's not really possible to gauge the expression on her face from the back of her head. You can see his quite clearly though.

I can't get any sound to work, so I may be missing something, but it looked like she was trying to walk past him, not at him. I can't see why she was interpreted by him as a threat. If being able to hear the soundtrack changes that, I'd be interested to know.
