I hope she presses charges. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he has form for DV.

I was expecting a lot worse. She wasn't grabbed by the throat at all. Your words are genuinely misleading and most people will think, " Oh... is that all" when they watch it. Which is a shame. They should have called security to turf her out.

ixqik · 21/06/2019 03:26

The longer clip posted from ITV in the twitter feed above is more useful.

I cannot see how he felt personally threatened by her.

He pushed her up against a pillar before turning her around and frogmarched her out of the room.

He is not a security guard.

At no time she seemed able to harm him or he seemed worried that she would.

The poster above who seems adamant she posed a threat to him could explain herself better in the context of the longer video.

I hope she seeks legal advice.

From this link, it sounds like an evacuation alarm is going off. After he assaulted her the crowd clapped.......

Totur · 21/06/2019 03:28

He clearly has his hand around her neck. Watch the video.

CUNT.

RiversDisguise · 21/06/2019 03:41

Totur... the OP said throat. This implies he was throttling her. The scruff of the neck is different.

RiversDisguise · 21/06/2019 03:42

But I agree, he's a cunt.

isabellerossignol · 21/06/2019 03:44

The video shows her trying to walk past him, not at him. I don't believe for a second he would have tackled a man in the same way. And he does look to have put his hands on her throat at one stage. Not appropriate behaviour at all.

MangoFeverDream · 21/06/2019 03:55

Looks like he frogmarched out an unwelcome gate crasher, didn’t see anything much wrong with it tbh although security totally dropped the ball here

Totur · 21/06/2019 04:25

I don't have to wonder why violence against women is so prevalent anymore..

He didn't grab her by the throat. She was trying to crash the stage at a private function and he stopped her. I have no problem with it.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/06/2019 06:28

He’s a very old friend of mine - I’ve known him since we were kids. I am shocked and appalled by his behaviour. This is very out of character for him. Wtf was he thinking? That poor woman.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 21/06/2019 06:40

If this is your definition of violence towards women then its offensive and insulting to women up and down the country who have ever suffered genuine violence

Well I have, extensive and repeated and by more than one man. You are not the spokesperson for beaten women.

This is an act of violence that is completely unacceptable.

To the poster earlier who said something about looking at the actions of the woman who put herself in that position. Just thought you’d like to know, that gets said to every women on the receiving end of a man’s violence.

I’m glad lots of people are in agreement and he’s being rightly criticised.

GirlDownUnder · 21/06/2019 06:53

I don't have to wonder why violence against women is so prevalent anymore..

So much this! I had to check which board I was reading.

To me it looks like he watched her approach and was only waiting for her to reach him.

She did not fight back, she was trying to walk past him, and there is no justification for him laying hands on her.

GirlDownUnder · 21/06/2019 06:57

And from the linked DM article it would seem Mark Field knows his response was wrong.

Mr Field has referred himself to the Cabinet Office for investigation and has apologised 'unreservedly' to the protester.

isabellerossignol · 21/06/2019 07:04

He could have just stood up and blocked her path to the front of the room - there wasn't a huge amount of room between him and the pillar. It would have stopped her in her tracks and he wouldn't have had to lay a finger on her.

Lockheart · 21/06/2019 07:05

It's very disturbing to watch and he should have the book thrown at him.

I don't think employing such hyperbole as "he grabbed her by the throat" (he did not from what I can see in the video) or saying he's a domestic abuser is in any way helpful, however.

Let's stick to the facts as we can see them in the video.

Isatis · 21/06/2019 07:15

She didn't have a particularly pleasant expression on her face as she marched towards him

How do you know? You can't see her face as she goes towards him in that clip.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 21/06/2019 07:21

I can't believe people think this is ok? This wouldn't have been ok if the security guards had done it let alone a guest.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 21/06/2019 07:25

From Robert Peston’s Twitter a City friend who was there texted me to say all the protestors were conspicuously “peaceful and well meaning”

Mark Field is a disgrace.

HashtagLurky · 21/06/2019 07:31

I'm not surprised by these responses. I was battered to the ground by my Ex numerous times in front of numerous people and only once had someone intervene. Disgusted but unsurprised.

AnyFucker · 21/06/2019 07:32

He looks very comfortable slamming a woman up against a wall and gripping her on the back of the neck like she's a naughty puppy

The physicality he used was disproportionate. She was clearly trying to pass him, not go for him personally. It was narrow between the table and the wall, he could have just blocked her way while secirity removed her in a more professional manner

He has some tough questions to answer

MrsBertBibby · 21/06/2019 07:36

Disgusting individual. He absolutely went for her. That is in no way proportionate force.

allmywhat · 21/06/2019 07:39

what the actual fuck is this thread. Oh, he only squeezed her throat a little bit! Or it doesn't count because it was from behind! And anyway she had kind of a mean look on her face, don't you think? She could have been plotting anything! If she didn't want to be violently assaulted then why was she protesting in the first place?

This is how male violence is used to control women's behaviour. The men who perpetrate it, and the people who make excuses for those men, letting every woman know she'd better stay in line or she's next. I would say can't believe anyone thinks his behaviour is acceptable - but I can, because every time a man beats up a woman there's always a Greek chorus making excuses for him.

Mark Field is disgusting. And so are the people defending him. Full offence.
