I hope she presses charges. Totally unnecessary and unacceptable.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he has form for DV.

It’s obvious. We’ve all analysed and replayed the video. In the moment, you react. Rather that than allow something worse to happen. She could have been carrying acid or a weapon. She was restrained and removed

He said to her “that’s what you get for interrupting our meal!”

So that throws your bullshit argument out the window. He was upset about their dinner being interrupted!!! You think he’d care about something so minor if he thought she had a knife/acid?!

The lengths so women go to to defend violent thuggish men 🙄

Isatis · 23/06/2019 14:09

In the moment, you react.

But no-one else reacted in this way, including all the other people whose tables this woman walked past. And it's not as if even Field looks remotely scared or worried about an attack.

Rather that than allow something worse to happen. She could have been carrying acid or a weapon

No, she couldn't. She'd gone through security. Field blatantly didn't think she was, otherwise he wouldn't have left her arms and hands free, nor would he have let her go afterwards.

She was restrained and removed.

No, she was attacked and removed. There's a difference.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 14:10

We disagree. Nothing I’ve read on here has changed my view. I just hope that in the event of the next saboteur or possible terrorist entering a building or place with malicious intent , people are not put off stepping up and defending themselves and others because of fears of being hauled over the coals by the Mumsnet collective.

BitOfFun · 23/06/2019 14:21

Yeah, not likely though, is it?

Women paying attention to the news are probably pretty scared though.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/06/2019 14:26

red Don't you think it is even remotely odd that in a society when maen putting their hands on women is so taboo that he was quite so quick to grab/shove her around the boobs, first contact, and then to be so physical as he controlled her and shoved her around the room?

I had this discussion with DH and he was initially, of the opinion that if your go to disrupt then you may get manhandled. He started talking about how men cannot do anything to protect themselves against an angry women as ANY physical contact is seen as a sexualised attack. I told him that was PRECISELY why watching a large man so expertly and aggressively grab at and subdue a woman in an evening dress was so shocking!

Nothing about what you witness is what you are socialised to expect.

THAT is why so many here are so angry. I was quite profoundly shocked when I saw the footage - trust me I don't shock easily I used to teach mixed sex exercise classes based on kickboxing, I know how to throw and take a punch.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 23/06/2019 14:28

others because of fears of being hauled over the coals by the Mumsnet collective.

I doubt anyone would be that pathetic

Isatis · 23/06/2019 14:31

We disagree. Nothing I’ve read on here has changed my view.

Well, if you won't let facts (including the evidence of the videos) change your views, so be it.

I just hope that in the event of the next saboteur or possible terrorist entering a building or place with malicious intent , people are not put off stepping up and defending themselves and others because of fears of being hauled over the coals by the Mumsnet collective.

Not sure if you've noticed, but it was the PM who suspended Field, not the Mumsnet collective.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:23

It’s the video evidence that leads me to my opinion.

Floisme · 23/06/2019 15:24

If he had been concerned about her carrying acid or a weapon then surely the sensible thing would have been to take cover and warn his fellow diners to do the same?

He admitted it himself, what he was concerned about was his dinner getting cold.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/06/2019 15:27

It’s the video evidence that leads me to my opinion. So, no response to my question then? You just think that and so that is it?

OK!

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:30

I see, as I thought. You seem to be playing a game of last word on this thread. It’s very much our opinion is the only one that will be tolerated as the last post. Quite funny really . Anyway, go ahead with your last word game.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/06/2019 15:33

Who me? Thats my 2nd or 3rd post on this thread. I haven't posted since Friday!

Maybe your powers of observation aren't up to much!!!!!

Isatis · 23/06/2019 15:35

It’s the video evidence that leads me to my opinion.

So what precisely in that evidence leads you to your opinion that Field thought this woman could be dangerous? Is it the lack of fear on his face or on the faces of any of the other guests around? Is it the fact that no weapon is visible at any point, and there is nowhere where she could conceal one? Is it the fact that he doesn't see fit to take any action to hold her hands and arms to stop her getting to any weapon?

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:36

Maybe not. Must be seeing things😉

Isatis · 23/06/2019 15:37

redspider, if anyone's playing a "last word" game, they're doomed to disappointment, given that we're only at post no. 465 as I write.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:37

Ah there we go. Back on it! Have you been lurking, waiting for me to respond?

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:39

My point is that I have seen the same evidence as you and I disagree. You don’t need to keep coming back at me, asking questions. Are you hoping I will come round to your opinion? I won’t.

FloralBunting · 23/06/2019 15:39

Mumsnet Collective had a great album out earlier in the year.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:41

I bet. Was it called Now that’s what I call Feminism?

FloralBunting · 23/06/2019 15:43

Are you hoping I will come round to your opinion?

I'm sure the posters arguing against the blithe acceptance of male violence which is evidenced and beyond dispute and for which the man has been suspended would hope that you would come round to their opinion by their shocking use of asking you questions.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/06/2019 15:43

You don’t need to keep coming back at me, asking questions. Are you hoping I will come round to your opinion? I won’t. Grin You may have misunderstood the main reason for Mumsnet existing... for discussions. If you don't want to discuss anything, to have a debate about things you find of interest then why bother at all?

I asked you a sincere question. You have responded, possibly to me, possibly not, with a couple of very sneery comments. I can't imagine wasting my time doing that.

Hey ho!

Isatis · 23/06/2019 15:46

Have you been lurking, waiting for me to respond?

Wow, paranoia rules. Guess what, we all have more to do than wait breathlessly for you to post on this thread.

My point is that I have seen the same evidence as you and I disagree. You don’t need to keep coming back at me, asking questions. Are you hoping I will come round to your opinion? I won’t.

I'm sure you won't, as you seem totally uninterested in technicalities like facts. I was sort of interested to know how, given that you claim to derive your views from the videos, you reconcile them with the evidence of those videos. But I see and understand that you are unable to do that, and that in fact your opinions are based in little more than fantasy.

IcedPurple · 23/06/2019 15:50

She could have been carrying acid or a weapon.

I've asked this many times but am yet to be told where, in a light dress and carrying a small handbag, she was hiding all these lethal weapons.

And has been explained to you, the very worst thing you could do if you suspect someone to be armed is to come into close physical contact with them, while leaving their hands free to access their weapons.

Like I said, come up with something better or don't bother.

redspider1 · 23/06/2019 15:57

No I won’t come up with something better. Split second decision. He has apologised given what he now knows. Move on.

IcedPurple · 23/06/2019 16:03

Split second decision.

Not really. He had a good few moments to see her coming and analyse the potential 'threat'. And even if it was a 'split second decision' that doesn't excuse it. Suppose I saw you coming towards me on the street in a manner I perceived to be suspicious? Would that give me the right to accost you?

Move on

Says the person who only took two full days to come up with the same tired excuses that have been repeated ad nauseum.
