Seems like Dr Mike Webberley has now also been suspended and he and his wife now plan to take their services overseas. Can't see this reported elsewhere yet though.

A doctor gets suspended.
Her husband carries on with her work.
The husband gets suspended.

They both get suspended in this ultra woke environment we are in. Both of them. That's because they've done something wrong!

It's really not hard.

Any parent who chooses to continue to access this unproven medical route, is placing trust where they really shouldn't.

They've been suspended to protect non gender conforming children. They haven't been suspended by mumsnet you know, they've been suspended by the medical authorities.

FannyCann · 19/05/2019 10:42

You have to wonder at the mindset. If my partner got suspended for something would I take over doing that thing they got suspended for and risk my own professional status? Do I need to ask/do a Mumsnet poll? ConfusedHmm

Sexnotgender · 19/05/2019 10:43

Totally agree KatVon.

For them to get suspended when everyone is aboard the woke train to wokesville is very telling.

FannyCann · 19/05/2019 10:45

Tempted to put the question to AIBU just for fun. Grin

Needmoresleep · 19/05/2019 10:50

Are any registered charities. Mermaids, Gires, etc, still actively signposting to the Webberleys? If so should the Charities Commission be informed.

This is serious. Vulnerable children sent to suspended doctors. There would have to be someone to complain to. And no signposting ought to mean that the patient stream dries up. Also is there anyway to complain about any internet advertising or promotion that reaches the UK.

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 10:51

She wasn't just suspended, she had to pay fines of £14,000 and costs of over £11,000. Must be a lucrative business. And how come all the money they're making doesn't seem to go through any of their UK registered businesses?

R0wantrees · 19/05/2019 10:54

There's a long history of collaberation between tDr Helen Webberley & children's charities/organisations Mermaids, GIRES and Gendered Intelligence.

It should be an issue for the charity commission to consider.

Helen Webberley admitted treated a 12 year old with cross sex hormones in 2017 contrary to NHS protocols and ethical practice.

R0wantrees · 19/05/2019 10:57

She wasn't just suspended, she had to pay fines of £14,000 and costs of over £11,000.

There are two seperate aspects.
The fine and criminal conviction is with regards the online clinic/s being unregulated and was successfully prosecuted by Health Inspectorate Wales.

The suspension is with regards complaints to the GMC.

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 11:04

Yes, R0wantrees, but my point was to do with the money. They're clearly making a lot of it, so why doesn't it show in any of their company accounts? Where's it going?

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 11:07

If my partner got suspended for something would I take over doing that thing they got suspended for and risk my own professional status?

In this case, the question should be:
If my partner got suspended for something and also got a criminal conviction and a fine for doing it would I take over doing that thing they got suspended for and risk my own professional status?

LangCleg · 19/05/2019 11:09

I think they should, yes.

Also can you imagine it in any other field. Say a headteacher was suspended in a school and fined for their behaviour, can you imagine if their husband then took over the headship and carried on the same behaviour. It would be front page news.

FannyCann · 19/05/2019 11:20

Indeed OldCrone

I just do find it really bizarre. Is gastroenterology such a trying specialty that suddenly prescribing hormones on the web looks so much more attractive? If it was just £££ driven I'm sure there is plenty of that in gastro, and if he wanted an easy life while making £££ there's probably plenty of private work advising worried well about their ibs/food intolerances/ flogging probiotics over the web without attracting the censure of the GMC.
Why risk your registration after all those years of hard work and respected practice?

Not particularly relevant I know but I find myself pondering these things. Confused

(No intention to belittle the real suffering related to IBS intended obv).

R0wantrees · 19/05/2019 11:28

Why risk your registration after all those years of hard work and respected practice?

It may also be driven by wanting to become the 'experts' at the forefront of something new?

Ego and money are both powerful drivers.

popehilarious · 19/05/2019 11:42

If I was a vulnerable child with gd I'd hope that my parent had decent critical thinking skills to navigate me through this minefield without causing me serious harm.

Not engaging in factual criticism with people posting in good faith isn't a good sign.

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 11:49

This is what is on the Companies House site for Gender GP Ltd. This business was listed as 'active' but last year was filing accounts for a 'dormant company'. The latest accounts are due on 31st May, so it will be interesting to see if there is now any money going through the business, since it was recently fined £12,000.

My Web Doctor Ltd also files accounts for a dormant company, but is also listed as 'active'. This seems to be a contradiction, but I admit to having no knowledge of running a limited company and what is required.

Should authorities be investigating parents who buy drugs off the Internet from unreputable sources to give to their children?

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 11:57

This is the only one of Helen Webberley's businesses which has any money going through it. Mike Webberley is also a director of this one. The amount of money going through this is pretty small for a doctor in his 60s to risk his registration and anything he might have gained over his career.

Its not showing monies in/out though is it?
So salaries etc ?

RedToothBrush · 19/05/2019 12:11

It show a 'loan' coming annually from Helen Webberely.

With the company effectively not turning a profit.

There's absolutely no detail beyond that.

It doesn't smell right.

Where are payments made? What currency and if it onshore or off shore.

It looks like it could well be 'UK shell company' of some description.

But its operational side is registered elsewhere.

No expert but that would be my suspicion.

OldCrone · 19/05/2019 12:14

Mike Webberley is a director of another company, Asaar Technology Ltd, with the same registered office address as My Web Doctor Ltd and Gender GP Ltd. The nature of business is given as "Activities of other holding companies not elsewhere classified".

Two directors are listed: Mike Webberley and Spectrum Support Services Ltd, a company with a registered office address in Belize.

There's definitely an offshore connection in Belize. Just off to do some more screenshots Smile

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 19/05/2019 12:24

Right decision obviously, given he just took over from her in prescribing strong drugs to kids. Absolutely horrific though that they can just move abroad and keep working as doctors..presumably prescribing to patients in the UK still? That really should not be an option. That they are so determined to do this, rings huge alarm bells for me tbh. They have been found to be unfit to do this kind of work, yet push ahead anyway.

He is the fourth UK gender-affirming doctor to be subject to GMC restrictions.

4th? Thought there was just her and him..
