Seems like Dr Mike Webberley has now also been suspended and he and his wife now plan to take their services overseas. Can't see this reported elsewhere yet though.

The reports are confusing, If I had an impacted wisdom tooth I would'nt go to see a hairdresser who sometimes did pedicures. The GMC is quite clear and there are procedures laid out in Health guidelines and in the GRA, that GP's should refer these patients to a Gender Clinic, GP's should certainly not prescribe hormone treatments unless instructed to do so by the Clinic after exhaustive consultations. The long term effects of HRT can be irreversible and damaging especially if the patient also has a genetic condition, this is why Clinics do blood tests and in some cases full genetic DNA scrutiny. The thought of children being giving hormone therapy without close supervision is dangerous to say the least.

(Namechanged after an accidental phone wipe)

I see being suspended and moving operations to Spain hasn't stopped the Drs Webberley from touting for business:

Sorry I made three entries, I did not see my first or second entry appear, seems the latest posts or not immediately on show, one has to go backwards to see the last page, thought new entries would be top of the list.

I am a transgendered woman, had surgery, have studied clinical conditions of trans people also studied the Gender recognition Act 2004 and it amendments, have a degree in law. I was born with a condition called Reifensdteins Syndrome, (google it)
I reiterate in my previous post, it is dangerous to issue HRT without precursory blood tests etc especially if someone has a condition similar to the one I have, but a doctor would not know this unless a blood test was done. The Health Service does have rules governing the treatment of trans people (those suffering Gender Identity Disorders) especially where the under 18 are involved.

The NHS does have rules, Cristine.

However, some people don't follow the rules.

Helen Webberley is a private GP and therefore took it upon herself to prescribe cross-sex hormones to a 12 year old, among other cases.

That is the huge problem with these online clinics and other charlatans. The majority of them never even meet the patient. They're just happy to rake in the money. And then when the law closes in, they will relocate to another country. Like the Webberleys.

Well that is a criminal offence, she could be extradited from any EU country and tried in court in the UK OR she could be arrested under EU law in any EU member state and tried in that state, where the principles of safety and care of the issue of prescription drugs is also a control issue.
