Someone who Twits may like to remind her of the case of Sir Thomas Dugdale, who resigned as Agriculture minister back in the days when politicians were honourable.

His reason for going: "I Didn't know. I wasn't told. I should have asked."

And they would now not be looking at spending millions of pounds on trans specific wings. Because they cannot untie themselves and go backwards from the mess she put them in.

Quite.

And I cannot emphasise enough: it's not just prisons. That report - and the way in which it ignored all written submissions warning of possible problems and only included extremist transactivist recommendations - is the basis for almost all the negative effects on women and children we're currently in the middle of and having to campaign against.

Maria Miller greenlighted them all.

Maria Miller.

She did it.

Without Maria Miller, these extremist demands would still be just extremist demands.

Maria Miller.

It's her fault.

Sophie Walker just chimes in on this...👀👀

It's interesting to me that MM has not quite had time to answer any of the questions submitted for Monday's Q+A on here...and that they are entirely about the loss of female rights...and then she tweets that about "mistake".

She missed out the "my" from "mistake", but, still.

I reckon the politicians are beginning to realise that women are not quiet about sex segregated spaces - it's that they are not listening to us.

Popchyk · 13/03/2019 09:35

Penny "Transwomen are women, that is the starting point for this consultation" Mordaunt is also in the dock.

Am even more interested to see her responses to the Mumsnet questions now.

It will give us an idea of the way the wind is blowing.

LangCleg · 13/03/2019 09:38

This thread has the full text of Janice Turner's Time article, in which she interviewed Maria Miller about the conflicts of rights produced by her Transgender Equality Report and which led Maria Miller to storm off in a huff because, apparently, asking questions about women's rights is a "stitch-up".

Interesting to see such a bold statement from Sophie Walker, KenDodd.

This tendency to create a huge mess and then disown all responsibility for it does seem to be a feature of government at the moment. Look at David Davis negotiating a Brexit deal and then voting against it.

FemalePersonator · 13/03/2019 09:42

Or David Cameron and Brexit. Rather than staying around to clean up the mess that he made he exited stage left, pursued by large fees for company directorships.

Threewheeler1 · 13/03/2019 09:48

I say, I'm enjoying that twitter thread Grin
MM deserves this.
She opened the door to all this and didn't give a shit about the consequences for women or vulnerable kids. She's had so many opportunities to engage but hasn't. Unbelievable myopic arrogance from a totally inept politician.

littlbrowndog · 13/03/2019 10:09

Was miller not involved in scandal over expenses ?

littlbrowndog · 13/03/2019 10:11

Oh yeah should rt

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 13/03/2019 10:15

MM (and the gra before her) knew it was a situation were a compromise is impossible. It's impossible for women and girls to have sex based rights if males can legally or socially be seen as female.

Instead of admitting this and finding a separate solution to the issues of a group of male people, women's rights were ignored.

The demands and power of male people is the reason women and girls need sex based rights.

MillytantForceit · 13/03/2019 10:15

Was miller not involved in scandal over expenses?

She was. Inflated claims for mortgage payments.

(Also note the 32 second 'apology' as an indication of character)

FemalePersonator · 13/03/2019 10:18

Ah. Miller is obviously a person who is not familiar with the word "ethics"

littlbrowndog · 13/03/2019 10:22

Just read about her. The woman has no shame
No wonder people have no faith in politicians

Jeez

MillytantForceit · 13/03/2019 10:26

"I've been told I have to apologise. So I apologise. There. Happy now?"

Procrastinator1 · 13/03/2019 11:06

To be fair to Maria, it wasn't all her fault. No one on the committee disagreed or produced a minority report, did they? I think Maria Caulfield might have said that they didn't get everything right. I'm off to remind myself of the others on the committee.

Procrastinator1 · 13/03/2019 11:11

Here they are. Mims Davies is the new minister for sport. Bodes well.

Mrs Maria Miller (Conservative, Basingstoke) (Chair) Ruth Cadbury (Labour, Brentford and Isleworth) Maria Caulfield (Conservative, Lewes) Jo Churchill (Conservative, Bury St Edmunds) Angela Crawley (Scottish National Party, Lanark and Hamilton East) Mims Davies (Conservative, Eastleigh) Mrs Flick Drummond (Conservative, Portsmouth South) Ben Howlett (Conservative, Bath) Siobhain McDonagh (Labour, Mitcham and Morden) Jess Phillips (Labour, Birmingham, Yardley) Mr Gavin Shuker (Labour (Co-op), Luton South)

HumberElla · 13/03/2019 11:30

God this makes me so, so angry. I couldn’t give a monkeys now about what she does or says in response.

I just want all of this out in the open for the world to see what an utterly contemptible individual this person is. Sadly she is another example of how many ordinary people have come to view those in power, as being self serving, grubby little greasy pole climbers.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 13/03/2019 11:36

To be fair to Maria, it wasn't all her fault. No one on the committee disagreed or produced a minority report, did they?

It was her job to ensure that any policies were fair and did not cause harm to women and girls. She was the minister for women.

It was her job, if she didn't understand the implications to commission a report focusing on the impact this would have for women and girls.

She chose to focus on the demand of a pressure group at the expense of women and girls.

If mm had been capable of doing her job properly, we wouldn't be anything close to this situation now.

Procrastinator1 · 13/03/2019 11:38

ZuttZeVootEeeVro I agree, but I don't want the others who allowed this to be forgotten either.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 13/03/2019 11:43

Yes, I agree. The whole disaster began when the GRA was introduced.

Datun · 13/03/2019 11:49

God that Sophie Walker tweet is a cheek.

Telling Maria Miller off for holding the exact same opinion that she did.

Interesting, though how people are now scrambling to get on the 'right side of history' isn't it ?

Bluestitch · 13/03/2019 11:54

The responses to Maria Miller are amazing. Am I imagining things or has the tide really turned in the last couple of months? GC voices now seem to completely outnumber TRAs on these discussions. I thought the same with the David Lloyd gym issue, a year ago there would have been a complete TRA pile on, but most of the responses were women saying thanks.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/03/2019 11:57

Jess Phillips was on that committee?
