Ruth Hunt is leaving Stonewall

I’d like to think her successor will be less homophobic. We shall see, although I’m not holding out much hope.

That came to mind when I read the line in Janice Turner’s piece about RH’s despair.

But she was in charge, she should have gone public regarding any misgivings if she had any (yes, I know, we all know what happens when women do).
There are many things she could have done to mitigate the damage - to lesbians in particular - a lesbian advisory board for example to counter/work with the trans one for example.
In fact I think this should be a requirement for whoever takes over. There are lots of people who I could nominate for this, Julie Bindel would be at the top of the list.

Lesbian Advisory board to Stonewall is a fantastic idea.

But I wouldn’t want to overstate what such a board might be able to achieve if the Trustees are the same or the Trustees don’t have a massive, publicised change of heart. This charity dismissed women’s concerns and request for discussion out of hand when they have politely and publicly been asked for that.

In a charity the Chief Executive isn’t the (only) driving force giving it direction. The Chief Exec proposes, then carries out with the staff, a work programme which the Trustees discuss and sign off on in line with the aims of the charity. Trustees are ultimately legally responsible for what the charity does.

But the charity’s actions to date, show that its aims have been commonly understood by the Chief Exec and Trustees to be exactly in line with the charity’s actions to date. Nobody has shown their despair or whatever in any public way.

So until Hunt or the Trustees set out a new position on this issue then I’ll just expect more of the same to come from a new Chief Exec. Much as I would like to be optimistic.

But.

The Lesbian Advisory Board would be dominated by men who claim to be lesbians. And Linda Riley who is trying to cash in on the Trans Gravy Train.

Because Stonewall has no way of excluding men from a Lesbian Advisory Board because transwomen are women, right? And lesbians are attracted to gender not sex, right? So men not only have a right to be on the board, but they are actually the most oppressed of all lesbians and they therefore must be elevated above the lesser lesbians (women).

So the menz would be running any lesbian committee. Guaranteed.

If Stonewall can't stand up to themselves and host a board of actual homosexual females then they should be shut down.

Heck, have Linda Riley on the board, fine. She is a lesbian and entitled to her views but she should be joined by people like Bindel, Bellos maybe Stock who knows? There are surely plenty of women who could contribute - diversity of opinion should be encouraged, it is something that certainly seems to have been lacking over the last few years.

Hunt should be ashamed of herself. She's not half as clever as she thinks she is, and she has left a steaming pile of shit where a useful charity once stood.
I don't believe she has any regrets, even if six months from now she claims she was swept along by others I will never believe she didn't intend to do this. She could have resigned or spoken out earlier of she disagreed with any of this. She didn't and she doesn't. She has no honour at all.
I hope she realises how many lesbians hate her for causing us real damage. She can hide in her clique for now but as previously mentioned she's only 38, she is going to be hated for a long time to come.
She's better off moving to Canada,.all joking aside. They're even further gone than we are, and she can hide there. In the UK she will always be known amongst many lesbians as the idiot who prioritised straight male fetishists above homosexual women (and men), and who destroyed all the acceptance homosexuals had built up.

Ben Summerskill was a good leader for Stonewall and achieved so much. It must be agonising for him to watch as Hunt just turns it all to shit.

I have noticed, in things like newspaper comments etc, people linking the two, and there’s a definite sense of a backlash. This will harm the LGB - people are associating them because organisations like stonewall are pushing the association hard.

Can only read a few lines of that article but it's heartening to know that financial supporters have been backing off in light of Stonewall's lunacy.

Wow that is pretty damning.

The article seems to suggest that Hunt resigned due to increasing criticism, as Janice Turner also hinted at. I'm surprised because I haven't seen any evidence of anything but her doubling down but who knows what the real story is?

Is that true of just spin by the times on why Hunt left?

Don't get me wrong, I'd like that to be the case, but unless it's stated explicitly by someone who is involved directly and is prepared to go on record saying it, I have to take with a pinch of salt.

What the Times has done on the subject is great but I do wonder...
