This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

The state has been weaponised by the police collecting statistics on incidents that ARE NOT A CRIME

Not only that, but it has the effect of encouraging people to assume it IS a crime, hence even more reporting...

JoanSummers · 24/01/2019 10:27

Datun

The name Stonewall now fills me with contempt. It's immediate.

And I don't even feel as though there are a few bad apples. I think it's rotten to the core, from the outside in.

Same.

Did someone say preference falsification?

Do we know what the offending limerick was? I'd like to know what the police are treating as noteworthy these days

JSmitty · 24/01/2019 11:10

M'Lord Scarman has a lot to answer for:

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/law-and-courts/discrimination/hate-crime/what-are-hate-incidents-and-hate-crime/

But it seems to me that the calling out of a hate incident is potentially as much of an incident under the definition as the original 'offence'.

theOtherPamAyres · 24/01/2019 11:31

This has all the hallmarks of a TRA impersonating a police officer

-no complaint from a member of the public

-acting on behalf of LGBT Police?

It's rather stupid to let slip that you are acting for an interest group within the police rather than conducting a fair and impartial enquiry.

-contacting the suspect via an employer?
This wouldn't perchance be the ubiquitous TRA ploy of making trouble for gender dissenters in the workplace? Police officers look at other options before questioning a person over the phone in front of the employer (a big no-no)

  • conducting an enquiry into purported criminal offences over the phone

There's something called the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, and its amendments and supplementaries, that make this interview unlawful.

I would urge Owl to report the very serious criminal offence of impersonating a police officer (and harassment).

I did wonder - but it looks as if Harry the Owl has the contacts/resources to verify.

I must admit tho' that ever since Glinner had to accept that harassment notice (?) that can't be appealed following that first police visit I am increasingly baffled by what is happening in the UK.

Itssadsometimes · 24/01/2019 12:12

Point of order: no limerick has yet rhymed Owl with fowl. Only foul.

Danaquestionseverything · 24/01/2019 12:21

Ok well I really can stop thinking about what a grave concern something like this has in relation to free speech. I'm not on twitter but I'm in awe of the amazing people that challenge this false narrative everyday, some at great personal cost. Free speech and protection of children are two things I'm incredibly passionate about. Yes they're the hills I'm prepared to die on. I made a limerick but 5 lines cannot express all I want to say about this so I went away and altered the lyrics of one of my fave songs - both my DS sing it along with me.

This song is dedicated to all those harassed by pc police, Harry, Joosty, Glinner, Busted Wench, Posie (sorry if I've missed anyone) also to Lisa M and Caro who both have had extreme harassment and those permanently banned from Twitter.

Sing to the tune of 1985 by Bowling for Soup - apologies because I really don't have any musical talent - but I'm giving Zero F**ks

1984

                  Verse 1

(name redacted)'s trained by Stonewall - they really want it all
One Estradiol a day so they can claim their gay
The wife walked out the door when they turned 54
Grew up as a man, now has a brand new plan
They're gonna be an activist, a famous YouTube star
They're gonna shake their ass at an exclusive lesbian bar
Their whole family doesn't understand ze
Looks at their previous life, now it's alright....

             Hook

Since (controversial charity), Big Pharma
They're reaching their Nirvana
Got guest spots on the BBC
And Butterfly on ITV
All the kids in high school
Think that ze is way cool
Since they've been indoctrinated
With 19, 19, 1984

           Verse 2

They've read all the classics
And believe every line
Brand New World, Animal Farm
You will too, or it's a thoughtcrime
They have a rainbow fam
That'll back them in a jam
Don't forget the Go Fund Me scam
Wears a G String made of snakeskin
Who's that weird guy ransacking the sanitary bin?
Why's reality become sketchy?
What happened to free speech? Safe guarding?
Medical integrity?

               Repeat Hook

               Bridge

We hate lies, make this stop
When did Women's Rights become policed by cops?
When did biology become the enemy?
This needs to stop, stop, stop!

         Repeat Hook x2

In case this gets me booted. Thanks to you lovely women. It's been real and I've learned heaps. Flowers Gin

arranbubonicplague · 24/01/2019 12:30

The plain spoken young man named Owl
Tweeted (he's a subclass of fowl).
Rhyming tweets, he now knows
Tweak TRAs on the nose
And calls for his head on a dowel.

GerryblewuptheER · 24/01/2019 12:31

dana

Nice knowing you too

I can't believe what we have become either. And there's no sign.of it stopping.

Rape someone or kill somone and it's rough sex and you walk out a free man.

Refuse to believe in something you cant see feel touch or prove even exists and off to the station you go.

And the fact no one cares who's hurt damaged or jailed in the bid to play some top trumps is the most disturbing thing of all.

GerryblewuptheER · 24/01/2019 12:31

Woke top trumps

Threewheeler1 · 24/01/2019 12:32

Genuinely shocked by this. It is sinister.
The hate crime of 'thinking'?
Surely the majority of the population is fucked by that yardstick?
And I've now lost all faith in our police. 'Ladybrain' in utero, I could weep.
The puppet masters are tugging harder than ever at those strings.

Danaquestionseverything · 24/01/2019 12:39

Aww thanks Gerry mwah. Love the top trumps reference, my boys had a stage when they were into those. Dinosaur ones iirc.

BertBox · 24/01/2019 12:39

A policeman in Humber was trained
By Stonewall, about being pink brained
Then a though crime on Twitter
Landed Owl in the shitter
And peak-transed all those who’d abstained

HawayMan · 24/01/2019 12:53

Harry says that he has a journalist coming round this afternoon! Interesting...

MrWriter · 24/01/2019 13:00

I read Harry's thread last night, scared the crap out of me. I only joined twitter to follow GC people, and now follow my company and a few others in the industry.

I went into panic mode and started following loads of people/companies in case I was doxxed through my employers.

Totally crazy.

Barracker · 24/01/2019 13:02

Your honour, I bring you this criminal
I've charged him with being discriminal
The proof of his crime
Is his liking for rhyme
Though the evidence is quite subliminal

R0wantrees · 24/01/2019 13:19

There is a current narrative that there is rising levels of transphobia in UK as a consequence of 'transphobic hot beds' such as Mumsnet etc & Conservatve Govt not implementing self-id GRA
The police data of reported transphobic 'hate crimes' will be used to validate this.

Times article by Elizabeth Burden January 24 2019
'Principal backs transgender students over ‘hurtful’ stickers'
(extract)
She claimed that transgender activists encouraged people to report individual stickers as hate crimes to maximise the number of alleged offences. On Facebook last November, James Morton, the Scottish Trans Alliance (STA) manager, responding to a comment on the Edinburgh stickers, said: “Please log it by reporting on the Police Scotland online hate crime form. We need the stats.” Vic Valentine, a policy officer for STA, said: “If people feel distressed by transphobic stickers, we encourage them to report [it] to police. We want to improve trans people’s confidence in approaching the police.”

Kai O’Doherty, the Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s vice-president for welfare, said the stickers were “not only hurtful to trans people, but are clear violations of policies against harassment and discrimination”. (continues)

Harry says that he has a journalist coming round this afternoon! Interesting...

Its worth being aware that Breibart picked up this story yesterday.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 24/01/2019 13:28

Bloody hell, that woman's brain comment. Can we get some actual biologists to give some basic human biology lessons to the police? The level of ignorance is disturbing. It's like having a policeman tell you that you need re-education because you don't think the earth's flat.

current thread, 'Facebook post deleted -hate speech!!

Infowars have also picked it up.

53rdWay · 24/01/2019 13:57

Infowars and Breitbart while the non-lunatic journalism ignores the subject altogether, fucking excellent. Sigh.

Popchyk · 24/01/2019 13:58

Meanwhile, figures out today show that violent crime is up 19% in England and Wales.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46984559

"John Apter, chairman of the Police Federation, which represents thousands of lower rank officers across England and Wales, said: "Society just isn't as safe as it once was, and although the police service is doing everything within its power, we are swimming against the tide and it is the public who are being let down."
