This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

I really don't want to believe this. FFS.

Popchyk · 23/01/2019 21:22

That MET LGBT story is horrifying, Oxy.

Shows the value in hiring legal expertise though.

If this is real then Owl should be taking legal action. Suspect a lot of people would contribute to a crowdfunder for legal costs. Owl doesn't have to go public to do that.

If Owl does want to go public, then there are plenty of journalists who would cover this story.

Oxytocindeficient · 23/01/2019 21:24

I so wish I had studied law... sigh... violent dad meant I left home as a kid and had shitty jobs instead

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2019 21:24

More police nonsense

Does anybody know what the retweeted limerick was?

QuietContraryMary · 23/01/2019 21:32

I dunno who he is, but he seems to use the same username on some other sites so he could probably be doxed quite easily.

Shows the chilling effect on speech by TRAs

feministfairy · 23/01/2019 21:37

The abuse of power is immense. I suppose as these special interest groups have been invited to "train" the police with their view of the world (TWAW etc ) they are then able to use the police to enforce their ideology.
Chilling.

GlorianaCervixia · 23/01/2019 21:46

Apparently the visit from the police occurred not long after he tagged Mermaids in a tweet. Hmmm...

RedemptiveCrocodile · 23/01/2019 21:46

I am curious about the limerick, too!

Must be powerful, powerful stuff, for the police to get involved, eh?

This may be a stupid thing to say but as someone said above, is he sure that this was a real police officer and not a hoax?

He was given a number to ring. And how could you check someone's identity down the phone? You couldn't check their badge.

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2019 21:52

He can check this if he files a subject access request. He had to call a number, perhaps he went through a switchboard?

MrsFogi · 23/01/2019 21:53

He sounds like my sort of thought criminal. Ridiculous, surely there is some real crime the police could be dealing with?

Itssadsometimes · 23/01/2019 21:54

Ooh limericks! I’m in!

Oxytocindeficient · 23/01/2019 21:56

I think on that thread he said he’s filing a subject access request

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2019 21:57

Good.

Itssadsometimes · 23/01/2019 21:58

There was a young girl who was pleased
That her mate got to meet Paris Lees
But the script got her thinking
“This doctrine -it’s stinking!”
And now from it’s clutches she flees.

Itssadsometimes · 23/01/2019 21:59

Damn those apostrophes....

waxy1 · 23/01/2019 22:01

“If you’re the Police, where are your badges?”

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2019 22:04

There once was a man called the Owl
Whose "likes" made a TRA scowl
They reported hate crime
Police gave it some time
Which for free speech really was foul

Bittermints · 23/01/2019 22:09

He did put #M*is in a tweet this morning but he also tweeted this in the last day or two: twitter.com/HarryTheOwl/status/1087851392558120965

Interesting, in view of hyperbolic threats made.

Harry says he is an ex-police officer so I imagine he was able to confirm this was genuine.

Worrying.

Fantata · 23/01/2019 22:10

I'm sorry, I'm still sceptical on this. Seems too far-fetched. I hope.
