This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

Very interesting. I don't know if I am understanding this right - does this bit apply to private individuals
Publishing personal data on the internet, for reasons not purely domestic, constitutes an act of processing, to which the Data Protection Act 1998 applies. Any information about an identifiable individual can be personal data – even if it is in the public domain.
If so, surely it would apply to Haddock's recent behaviour?

Oxytocindeficient · 01/02/2019 11:17

MsMcWoodle

Yes agreed. I’m not a lawyer so I don’t understand how this law is applied.

nauticant · 01/02/2019 11:22

informationrightsandwrongs.com/2014/12/08/russell-brand-and-the-domestic-purposes-exemption-in-the-data-protection-act/

The key appears to be "for reasons not purely domestic".

MsMcWoodle · 01/02/2019 11:51

If someone has the stomach for it, I think it would be worth pursuing. Haddock and his golfing buddy really need to be stopped.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/02/2019 14:24

More police with an interesting take on the issue

Meet officers on Monday between 13:00 - 15:00 when we talk about Hate Crime and how we can battle it. Liam

So does this include hate crimes against women and lesbians who are gender critical and being labelled TERFs?

Replying to @JoCampbell69*
Hello, The word TERF is not an offensive slur, It is a description. At GMP, we stand against hate crime and the Trans community are victims of horrific attacks globally and in the UK. We would like to see you at the event and Hopefully you can gain insight into Trans Rights. Liam

If the word TERF is not considered an offensive slur, but a description, but I am offended by it, how does that square with the hate crime / hate incident guidance.

Also, if I were to label a transwoman biologically male, which is also not offensive and a is an accurate description - would that be considered hate?

RiverTam · 01/02/2019 14:32

I'd love to see the evidence for these horrific attacks in this country, which is all that's relevant but I think I'll be waiting a long time.

andyoldlabour · 01/02/2019 14:58

"I'd love to see the evidence for these horrific attacks"

I found this one, but it is one of those which never happen.

MsMcWoodle · 01/02/2019 14:59

When do they do the talks on misogyny? Have I missed them? Seems to be a larger issue taken all together, what with all the women being murdered.
Anyway - bit of good? news. Sent an email to my tory mp yesterday. Pretty much about the silencing of women on this, freedom of speech the police visits, Harry, the parlous state of Stonewall etc. I've written to this MP several times about the GRA and had a meeting.
Got this reply the same day.
Thanks xxx. Let me go back to the ministers and push this further. As you know I share your huge concerns on this issue.

MsMcWoodle · 01/02/2019 15:00

Those weren't kisses btw! Just removed my name.

RiverTam · 01/02/2019 15:10

I wish my MP gave a shit. Unfortunately, she's only concerned with saving her own neck (likely to get deselected by dear old Momentum).

Melroses · 01/02/2019 15:25

Aren't all slurs a description of some sort? Confused

Bluestitch · 01/02/2019 15:43

So the police will record hate incidents based on what someone perceives to be offensive. Unless you are a woman who objects to TERF and then the police will tell you that you're wrong?

Melroses · 01/02/2019 15:57

Police-endorsed term now. I hope someone takes a step back and thinks.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 01/02/2019 16:13

the tweet has been removed now

i think someone has had a word with liam

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/02/2019 16:13

GMP City have deleted the tweet, which is something I suppose.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 01/02/2019 16:21

T*rf is a description?

Lol

It's hurled with venom at anyone (including trans people) who disagree in any way with TRAs

It's particularly used against women? Why don't we get protected?

FamilyOfAliens · 01/02/2019 16:24

And yet when women try to reclaim the term “terf”, TRAs have a hissy fit.

They want it all ways, don’t they?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 01/02/2019 16:28

They want it all ways, don’t they?

No they want it one way, they want you as part of an inferior class of people.

ToeToToe · 01/02/2019 17:03

I thought GMP back pedalled from using 'terf' as descriptive, when they were challenged over supporting the 'terfs will be thrown out' stickers in Manchester gay village.

This must be a different woke-trained copper manning the twitter now...

Earlier today, Friday 1 February, comments were made via social media which were inappropriate and offensive.

The posts have been deleted and the incident is being investigated by the Professional Standards Branch.

We would like to apologise for any upset or offence.

Vixxxy · 03/02/2019 01:35

Of course. Fuck lesbophobic/misogynistic terms no issue as per (and who are they kidding, stating TERF is just a descriptive term..lol), lookie here, TRANS RIGHTS trump all, loads of transphobic attacks all over the UK every hour, meanwhile its so so rare for one of those boring old adult human females to be attacked in any way, and if they did then meh, trans rights, power to the penis people. Silly bitches should know this by now. Why won't you learn. Ah damn, look, you made that guy defend himself against your nasty thoughts by punching you in the face Hmm

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 03/02/2019 10:04

Aww, this American is going to cancel their planned trip to Manchester because its suddenly unsafe.

Yeah, sure you have.....

I would be surprised if they could find their way off their games console and out of their mums house, let alone make it to Europe. Silly sausages!

Frankly, if people stating reality is going cause you sufficient mental distress that you're afraid of going anywhere it might happen, then you probably shouldn't be travelling anyway, never mind abroad. May be time to give your crisis team a call.

TimeLady · 03/02/2019 11:55

Do people from overseas go 'on vacation' to Manchester? No offence to Manchester, but c'mon, really?
