This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

What else has he said apart from this? It really wouldn’t be appropriate for him to speak out against an officer for something like this. It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement either.

Really not taking the publics concerns seriously is he?

Keith Hunter's twitter is a car crash. And he is blocking everyone who even politely engages with him as well as those who like tweets.

RepealTheGRA · 30/01/2019 10:01

And what Bluestitch said. This whole episode is deeply embarrassing for the police and, once again, Labour.

Bluestitch · 30/01/2019 10:01

Look at this twitter thread, read Crone's tweets and then see if his response is okay.

But PC Gul has no right to reply - we haven’t heard his version of events. I’m really uncomfortable with the way he’s been publicly vilified with no way to respond.

I’m going to refrain from replying any more to this as I’m obviously coming at this from a different perspective from the majority on here. Yes it’s a bit embarrassing for Humberside Police but we should be looking at the bigger picture not targetting individuals.

Popchyk · 30/01/2019 10:07

Keith Hunter tweeted "Its been great fun on twitter today" when people were commenting to him about how Humberside Police didn't bother to attend when they were victims of crime.

Didn't go down well.

Bluestitch · 30/01/2019 10:07

We are taking about the PCC, an elected official with a very good salary blocking members of the public on twitter for polite disagreement or even asking advice. It's completely unacceptable, as are his unprofessional tweets.

RepealTheGRA · 30/01/2019 10:09

I certainly want to look at the bigger picture and I have no wish for PC Gul to be targeted.

Keith Hunter however is far enough up the food chain though that he does need to take some responsibility, not least of all for his own thoroughly unprofessional behaviour on twitter.

Popchyk · 30/01/2019 10:10

"Yes it’s a bit embarrassing for Humberside Police but we should be looking at the bigger picture not targetting individuals".

Any sympathy for Harry?

Who was targeted as an individual? By Humberside Police who contacted what they thought was his employer?

How do you think that would have gone if Harry had been on a zero hours contract with Poundland?

R0wantrees · 30/01/2019 10:10

And what Bluestitch said. This whole episode is deeply embarrassing for the police and, once again, Labour.

Keith Hunt's reaction may have more to do with misogyny and sexism that his membership of Labour.

His twitter response may be demonstrting his confirmation towards women and feminists.

It is though a cross party issue. The lobbying of police at senior levels by influential trans rights organisations has been going on for some time. Just as in NHS, education, social care, prisons etc.

The focus might better be on males with power, regardless of their gender identity or political party membership.
It should be embarrassing for them.

titchy · 30/01/2019 10:11

But PC Gul has no right to reply

Of course he does. I'm quite sure he's pretty active on Twitter, the Times asked for his side of the story, and he's more than welcome to come on here, or any other SM, and explain his reasoning.

feministfairy · 30/01/2019 10:11

I believe that PC Gul was asked by the Telegraph and he did give them a response that the paper published.

TimeLady · 30/01/2019 10:12

From the Telegraph article

"Confirming that he had spoken to Mr Miller for 20 minutes, PC Gul told the Telegraph he made the remark about the foetus because he had “learned it on a training course ran by a transgender person last summer”."

He might have another version?

All he had to do was tell Harry there had been a complaint over the retweet and give him a friendly warning that they might have to look into it further if it happened again. A rap on the knuckles, like you would expect any sensible police officer to do.

R0wantrees · 30/01/2019 10:12

Important to identify the people who are being dismissed.
Mostly women and men who support women's rights.

RiverTam · 30/01/2019 10:12

If PC Gul is spouting this bullshit to youth groups them I'm afraid he does need looking at. He is not a mindless drone.

R0wantrees · 30/01/2019 10:14

"Confirming that he had spoken to Mr Miller for 20 minutes, PC Gul told the Telegraph he made the remark about the foetus because he had “learned it on a training course ran by a transgender person last summer”."

The important issue and missing details are who made the complaint, why did they contact Humberside police and who did the training.

rytonsister · 30/01/2019 10:14

I can't imagine that the chief constable of blunder humberside is thrilled with any of this tbh.

andyoldlabour · 30/01/2019 10:15

"Really not taking the publics concerns seriously is he?"

No, and I would go one step further to say he is actually mocking people.

"It has been fun on twitter today"

R0wantrees · 30/01/2019 10:17

If PC Gul is spouting this bullshit to youth groups them I'm afraid he does need looking at. He is not a mindless drone.

The type of training PC Gul is providing to youth groups is being replicated throughout the UK by many people. The issue is which groups trained the professionals, what is the training they were given and why wasn't it critically examined.

PC Gul is the the symptom of something much wider and more serious which needs urgent daylight.

There is a systemic failure to understand safeguarding.

rytonsister · 30/01/2019 10:18

timelady

That's certainly how I'd have handled it but hindsight is a wonderful thing

I do have some sympathy with him in a there but for the grace of god go I way.

And yes I do have sympathy for Harry- sledgehammer to crack a nut clumsily executed.

I'm sure the publicity will lead to a shake up on that training.

Bluestitch · 30/01/2019 10:18

This tweet suggests he is comparing being gender critical to flat earthers. Does anybody else interpret it this way or am I reading it wrong?

R0wantrees · 30/01/2019 10:19

No, and I would go one step further to say he is actually mocking people.

There are a wide range of males mocking those who challenge transideology. Their gender identity is irrelevent to the contempt which they have demonstrated towards women.

sackrifice · 30/01/2019 10:19

If PC Gul is spouting this bullshit to youth groups them I'm afraid he does need looking at. He is not a mindless drone

What sort of person mindlessly spouts this utter unscientific garbage in the first place?

Bluestitch · 30/01/2019 10:21

Agree sacrifice. If I told my 10 year old about the girl/ boy brain thing he would think I'd lost my mind.
