Without MaryZ to fly the flag this is going unnoticed on Mumsnet.

Graham Linehan was invited by RTE to take part in a panel on Trans issues. There are now petitions to have him removed.

I didn’t know who this Comerford person was. Just looked at their twitter. I seriously can’t stand this pathetic angry little misogynist. This tweet had enraged me more than any other.

Listen you absolute bellend, many of the women discussing autism and transgenderism are parents of autistic children. I am the wife and mother of autistic persons and they themselves see what is happening with the confusion, coercion ( DD experienced it ) and misdiagnosis of autistic children.

Don’t you dare fucking tell us we don’t understand autism. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. The danger of misdiagnosis and STERILISATION of autistic children due to gender stereotypes and trans ideology is a massive fucking concern and utterly repellent. YOU are being ableist you flipping fool.

Does Comerford work for a living?

He seems so spectacularly stupid am wondering if he is trying to make ends meet as Deputy Bellend of the Woke Brigade.

Bluestitch · 25/01/2019 19:39

I think he's trying to get in with the cool kids but they keep ignoring him. He's harassing women, policing likes and follows, retweeting Harrop like a true soldier. What more can he do Sad

GCSocScientist · 25/01/2019 19:44

I see he is a writer, no offence to my GC writer sisters out there, but there are very few people who can make ends meet from writing alone.

I guess he is trying to market himself as an Irish Katie Hopkins? He’s almost there I reckon.. Ten more days of trolling and being an utter knob before his first paid for interview/invitation to write a column..?

nauticant · 25/01/2019 19:44

A wannabe Harrop. It's too depressing for words.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 25/01/2019 19:46

Oxytocin Comerford has two preteen girls with ASD- iirc one is non verbal.

I appreciate this must make life very difficult for him in some respects, but he really does speak as if if he’s OK with Self ID as the father of vulnerable girls then that makes anyone else who isn’t a close-minded bigot.

Oxytocindeficient · 25/01/2019 19:51

Then he is an ignorant fool who has very little understanding of autism, or what ableism actually looks like.

3timeslucky · 25/01/2019 19:53

Not a mention of PT on either rollercoaster or heymammy today. I think people are afraid to go there. There was a few very heated discussions a while ago so it feels like no-one wants to poke the hornets nest again.

FWIW it was mentioned on HM but with little enough commentary. I think the membership is so small that once posters' positions were made clear a while back few are bothering to re-visit. TBH there is a surprising lack of heat and concern when contrasted with the very heated debates that used to get generated about birth and baby-feeding choices ... we must be getting old and tired. Though there was a lot of heat and discussion about Repeal so maybe people just don't see why self-ID legislation matters. Which worries me.

Sorry can't do share token.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 26/01/2019 08:41

Irish Times today.

Oxytocindeficient · 26/01/2019 08:43

Oh I couldn’t read that stupid Irish Times article in full. As soon as I saw the c word, I’m out

Annasgirl · 26/01/2019 13:31

Whoever said Jennifer O’Connell was GC needs to read her Irish Times article today. I nearly tore it up. Think I might have to put myself now and write to the newspaper - although I’m not sure what it would be achieved.

Did you know that sex (not gender) can be assigned at birth??????

Annasgirl · 26/01/2019 13:31

Sorry just saw you are all ahead of me. I’ve just seen it in a friend’s house and we are fuming.

Annasgirl · 26/01/2019 13:32

Out myself 🙄

3timeslucky · 26/01/2019 15:51

I can't believe (except I can) that there's nothing in the IT article about the issues arising from self-ID. Totally vacuous piece. Not entirely surprising from J O'C. Depth of thought or analysis would not be common in her writing. Like you Annasgirl, wondering at merits of writing to paper, though not sure I can keep to something suitably letter lengthed.

(Sorry, can’t do fancy links)

Woman gets followed into ladies’ loos in Connolly Station- obviously feels intimidated.

Some comments point out that this is the problem with Self ID that some people have been trying to highlight.

They’re told not to use this to excuse their transphobia.

The cognitive dissonance is just too much.

3timeslucky · 26/01/2019 16:52

The IT also "reviews" the Primetime programme in the Ticket. Crawley spectacularly misses the point.

Annasgirl · 26/01/2019 20:27

So like the people in the UK who have ditched the Guardian I think this has peak IT’d me. Came home from friends house and did not go to shop to buy my own.

pachyderm · 26/01/2019 22:51

The IT has been shite for a long time; a vacuous echo chamber of righteousness-wanking. There's very little depth or analysis.

That story about Connolly Station is awful and plausible, can't believe how anyone is minimising it. I am scared of using night trains and the security is really inadequate.

NorasBarnacle · 27/01/2019 02:46

I have long given up on the IT - total Wokesville there and has been for a long time.
But HM was a surprise this week. The site is very small in comparison to MN but it was clear on the thread about PT that the majority were questioning the rote transing of kids, especially many of the sensible long time posters. This was probably one of the most (very SUBTLE) gender-critical threads ever.
HN is too small and many women are identifiable in real life - it is very hard to 'come out' with a GC point of view, but I think Graham did his job - raised the profile of the issue and forced the woke Twitter mob to behave as expected. And they didn't disappoint.

Ampersandcolon · 27/01/2019 23:22

Whats HM and HN?

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/01/2019 23:29

I think heymammy.ie and a typo Wink

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 27/01/2019 23:33

And apparently it's heymammy.com. I think that's me hoisted on someone's petard.

3timeslucky · 28/01/2019 14:16

HM (heymammy) is an Irish parenting site. Very small and the vast majority of posters are older mums (by which I mean with older kids), and migrated from other parenting sites. It should be comparable with mumsnet but isn't really given how small the country is and how small the membership is. I'm not sure that anyone ever feels truly anonymous posting. But that maybe isn't all bad either.
