Gamer raises $100,000 (and rising) for trans charity Mermaids by playing Donkey Kong non-stop

"Tens of thousands of pounds has been raised for transgender charity Mermaids, thanks to a Twitch streamer playing Donkey Kong 64 for an entire day.

HBomberGuy (Harry Brewis), a popular UK-based content creator who has more than 300,000 subscribers on YouTube, came up with an unlikely way to raise money for the embattled transgender children’s charity, which recently had part of its lottery funding suspended after a campaign from anti-trans activists."

Kiwi, what do you want me to read.

And am I right in assuming that you are a man. Women tend to not to talk to each other in this way. Which is why Mumsnet is generally so much politer. If you have a point, why not just make it, rather than accuse and lecture.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 20:45

aw rats

i was hoping for a full rundown of the rules of feminism to be deposited here while I picked DS1 up from cubs

always good to check you're doing it wrong

but no, just further sweeping assumptions and sanctimonious preaching from KiwisReallyAreYouSure

how disappointing

nauticant · 21/01/2019 20:46

You've got some hope. It looks like they only joined MN to scold us.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 20:58

aww diddums random twitter weirdo

did the mummies not salute and leap to do your bidding?

are MNHQ staunchly ignoring your bellowing tweets?

tres, tres sad Sad

nauticant · 21/01/2019 21:01

Coincidentally, people on the thread might want to have a listen to Radio 4 now.

Ereshkigal · 21/01/2019 21:01

It's a shame there is no central body we can report transactivists to for misogynistic harassment of women.

SunsetBeetch · 21/01/2019 21:03

Oh no she's told mummy on us!

What a strange person! I'm a 'Channer'? Genuine lol there!

Bluestitch · 21/01/2019 21:07

Is he going to call the police on MN?

Ahahahahhaha...

I can see it now.

‘FUCK... the mumsnetters have found kiwifarms. Don’t let them talk to each other!’

Grin

Look, we’re mums. We are well used to dealing with irrational little tyrants.

Twunk · 21/01/2019 21:13

Kiwi farms is a cesspit but then so is Twitter .

SunsetBeetch · 21/01/2019 21:15

Oh of course Harrop had to weigh in. What's he going to have us arrested for, exactly??

Remember when he doxed that woman, used it to blackmail her into deleting her twitter account, then said it wasn't doxing because the info was all in the public domain? I sure do!

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/01/2019 21:16

A quick squizz through quoll’s twitter shows several likes of the fragrant and reasonable Morgane Oger.

Remember when Harrop tweeted the Pope to report a Catholic woman for the crime of being GC? And every other Catholic organisation he could think of. He's an expert in harrassment.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/01/2019 21:27

In the parlance of my childhood ‘ahm tellin yer ma!’.

SunsetBeetch · 21/01/2019 21:28

I know what my mum would say to them! She takes no crap.

R0wantrees · 21/01/2019 21:30

"The rules of misogyny
1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.
2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
3rd rule of misogyny: Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.
5th rule of misogyny: WATM! Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
6th rule of misogyny: Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies deserve punishment.
7th rule of misogyny: Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
8th rule of misogyny: Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say. 10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it males men look bad. 11th rule of misogyny: Basic pattern recognition skills are cruel and evil when they hurt men's feelings.

12th rule of misogyny: whatever women suffer from, men suffer from more.

13th rule of misogyny: Women are not oppressed! Rape and catcalling and objectification are all compliments, not oppression.

14th rule of misogyny: Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent."

And Harrop also makes no mention of going after anyone on Kiwi Farms, just Mumsnet. How curious Hmm

RedKite96 · 21/01/2019 21:33

Are you a man?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 21:34

yeah, some of those kiwi farmers (?) are fucking scary

much easier to go after the middle class mummies that he fondly imagines us all to be

of course the odd one of those middle class mummies turns out to be Posie Parker Grin

Ereshkigal · 21/01/2019 21:34

Renowned misogynist and friend of the good Dr H, Dr Christian, is posting lovely stuff about pissing in the eyes of bigots.

Ereshkigal · 21/01/2019 21:35

And Harrop also makes no mention of going after anyone on Kiwi Farms, just Mumsnet. How curious

Isn't it just?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 21:38

oh, now they're musing about going after the advertisers

currently the ads showing on my page are for a chain of spanish hotels and elemis (the v pricey toiletries), both of which I have spent fairly serious amounts of money with before as a direct result of recommendations from another mumsnetter

there's 12 million unique users a month here. advertisers are unlikely to want to stay away.

MsMcWoodle · 21/01/2019 21:44

Yes. Bit of a shame for them that mums are such big spenders. Apparently most decisions about family spending are made by women. I have a nice little ad from a furniture shop that I frequent keeps popping up on my page.
I'm sure that they won't want my custom when they know I've been reading Kiwi Farms though.
