We would never try to overtly sexualise our child. But if he wears something that makes him feel beautiful, what right do I have to stop him wearing that dress because it might cause people to think things they shouldn’t be thinking? It’s a circular problem.
When did feeling beautiful become the most important thing? Especially for a ten-year old child? We are so appearance obsessed that it trumps common-sense. This kid may well be a natural performer, but there are many other outlets for children to perform which are not highly sexualised. I’m just sad for this little boy.
