The attempts to frame this as bigotry against gay men because that's who the kid is posing with are alarming. The problem isn't that the adult in the photo is gay, the problem is that the child is 10.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 12/01/2019 09:45

100% normalisation of child abuse. It is gross and inappropriate, unfortunately it will be bandied about as stunning and brave.

ChewyLouie · 12/01/2019 09:49

The other problem is the parents of these children who claim ‘its just kids playing’.
Exposing your child to adult kinks is not ‘play’ it is abuse. The authorities need to get a grip on this and pretty soon before this acceptance of this openly happening in the gay scene means the public become desensitised to child abuse out in the open. This is simply wrong.

Glitterinmykeyboard · 12/01/2019 09:51

Fucking disgusting

I feel grubby after looking at this photo

Where are child protective services ffs

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 10:02

When kids are involved in innocent play it's with each other, not with naked adults. If the kid was playing dress-up with a bunch of other kids nobody would be concerned.

I can't figure out if the people trying to play this off as harmless are incredibly stupid or just incredibly dishonest.

iaskMNeverything · 12/01/2019 10:04

That photo is disgusting and irrelevant to whether it was used - a 10 year old child was posing in a photo shoot next to a naked adult...

People go to jail for images like that and child exploitation in pornographic material... so why is this in plain sight?

AhhhHereItGoes · 12/01/2019 10:04

Also note the kids drag name 'Queen Lactatia' I despair.

iaskMNeverything · 12/01/2019 10:07

I was tempted to send it to a few woke friends to point out the obvious but I don't want to serve time for sharing images like that so thought better of it

I hope these kids win huge compensation when they grow up and realised they've been groomed and exploited as well as put the people responsible away for a long time

MogPlus · 12/01/2019 10:12

Oh jesus, how are people defending this??

WhoWants2Know · 12/01/2019 10:14

If I heard my 9 year old say "Eat a dick", they'd be grounded, much less being photographed with it in writing

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 10:18

How are there two children of such similar age playing out the same scenario in different cities, both with the adults around them acting like everything is fine?

OnlineAlienator · 12/01/2019 10:18

I think 'queen lactatia' will write a very intetesting autobiography one day Sad

LangCleg · 12/01/2019 10:26

Um... who was the deleted person? Please tell me we are not being invaded by persons of a particular acronym.

deepwatersolo · 12/01/2019 10:32

The photo is so not ok. Even if the naked Drag Queen in the photo may be harmless, this picture is a 'how to get access to children to sexually eploit - in one pic' guide.

Deleted person posted a link to some AIBU thread in which they were trying to get people to click on another link.

(Neither Yet nor I did, because not born yesterday.)

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 10:39

Or not AIBU, some other part of the site, but basically a thread designed to get everyone to click on their link. Link was supposedly showing connections between different pedophiles on social media. Poster was very miffed when I suggested that clicking on links when you don't know where they might lead is not very clever netiquette.

LangCleg · 12/01/2019 10:45

Ah, ok. Thanks, AAK. I don't know if that's better or worse than an invasion of MAP types.

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 10:50

It’s child porn. Desmond is a child porn star.
Mainstream culture validates and celebrates adult porn stars, how long did we think mainstream culture would last before it set its sights on normalising child porn as an acceptable form of work/self expression?

How do we stop the pornification of childhood?

deepwatersolo · 12/01/2019 10:50

I think 'queen lactatia' will write a very intetesting autobiography one day.

There was a documentary once about these beauty pageans for kids (which I consider objectification of children that I object to, but it is still way more harmless than this here, imo). There was a girl portrayed who insisted it helped her grow and whatnot, 'Mum supports me in what I want. Yeah, dad is skeptical but in the end he lets me do what I want..'. Even years down the line, as a college student she maintained that. And then, with 25 or so she changed her tune and told her mum it had always been something she (mum) wanted and she as the kid didn't like these pageants at all.

In this case with the dragkids, even if those kids should escape direct forms of sexual exploitation (how likely is that!?!) there is a good chance they will conclude 'this was wrong, mum and dad should have known better', once they are grown ups.

If you listen to ex-child stars in Hollywood, many were sexually exploited while maintaining a squeaky clean image. Here nobody can't even be arsed to pretend, apparently.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 10:53

The phenomenon of child stars is dodgy in general, imo. You always have to wonder what the parents were thinking.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 10:54

Like even best case scenario with no sexual abuse or being given drugs at a young age you end up with someone like Mara Wilson who's deeply ambivalent and for whom the transition from cute kid to adult no longer valued for their cuteness is very hard. And that's about as good as it gets, psychologically speaking.

PierreBezukov · 12/01/2019 10:55

I clicked on the photo. It made me feel ill. It is child abuse. Has this been reported in Canada?

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 11:00

Child stars is also dodgy territory, most are highly sexualised too.

I always thought Jodie Foster was very inappropriately shot/used in her child acting years.
