That's where I want to live right now. Home of the Bluestocking pub and the Shady Pines, the favoured retirement home of gin-swilling, cantankerous elderly gender crit feminists. It's like that village in the Dales which dodged the bubonic plague and is a haven from PoMo fuckwittery. Anyone else in?

Tea
trudges off to Sainsbury's for the third 'last few bits' shop in two fucking days.

Same here, arghhh those pesky 'last few bits'.

You certainly can bring your homemade sloe gin.
Arron and Errol's tasty ideas are inspiring.

We need an oversized table to set it all up, maybe we need a cosy heated marquee in the Bluestocking garden.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 23/12/2018 20:38

I think the Bluestocking has the biggest walk-in fridge ever.
For keeping all the booze food fresh, obvs.

ChattyLion · 23/12/2018 21:07

If anyone else is planning on some bracing festive swimming or kayaking or just wants to loll around inhaling delicious hot pinewood smells: I’ll be reopening the Badley Fuckitt community sauna from Xmas Eve- New Years’ Day. Xmas Smile

arranbubonicplague · 23/12/2018 21:10

Sauna after kayaking sounds grand - and it might help with this foul sinusitis. Put it this way - my head resembles a flotation device in its own right...

arranbubonicplague · 23/12/2018 21:13

Sous vide turkey is going on tomorrow. I'll be doing it with a first sear, and it will be in the water tank, so anyone who fancies a bit should just remove a piece and sear it again for themselves on Christmas day.

I'll leave in the usual gluten-free bread and crackers along with the other items but I'll make sure to package and label them clearly so there's no confusion.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/12/2018 22:13

Arron and Errol's tasty ideas are inspiring.
Honesty compels me to confess I'm not doing the baking, I was counting on Arran, and she hasn't disappointedGrin. Her ideas (see pub thread) sound so good I'll volunteer too wash up for her if she wants (anything that won't go in the dishwasher, obv.)

Illyria47 · 24/12/2018 04:00

Yes, arranbubonicplague, I was thinking Hinge and Brackett too.
Fantastic the village has a Portal. Would it be powerful enough Ladies of the Village to transport two young/elderly gender critical feminists from the Antipodes? (Otepoti lillanne42 and me)
Obviously we would come bearing goodies from Kiwiland, Pavlovas galore, (Ours first, not Aussie) Hokey Pokey ice cream, Jaffas, Pineaaple lumps, lashings of Marlborough Sauvignon Blance, or Pinot Gris or anything alcoholic really.
Our Portal has to be the Library, near the Harry Potter books of course, perhaps holding one as we chant, take us to Badley Fuckwitt.
It's summer here so we would bring some sunshine with us, not too much, we don't want to melt the snow!
So much to do, so many talented women to meet, can't wait, it will be such fun!

Illyria47 · 24/12/2018 04:11

Well, I think I might have started a new Village with Badley Fuckwitt!
Will have to write the proper name down and be very careful when we chant it. Could land up in an alternative universe otherwise.

Yeahnahyeah · 24/12/2018 05:07

illyria. Shhhh... We'll get all the prep jobs if the village knows we're the first to reach Xmas day...... Oh feck it, am I bovvered? Nah I'm not bovvered. Xmas Grin

Illyria47 · 24/12/2018 05:46

Merry Christmas, Yeahnahyeah, I meant to say we would bring some No 8 wire, just in case!

Igneococcus · 24/12/2018 07:27

illyria47 could you maybe get me some Whittaker's peanut slabs, Cookie Time chocolate chip cookies and if ripe already a bucket full of feijoas?

Teawamutu My inlaws live in Te Awamutu

Illyria47 · 24/12/2018 08:11

No worries Teawamutu, should have thought of Whittakers chocolate, best in the world, Chocolate Chip Cookies naturally, will try and get Fejoas, hey might bring over two buckets, hope they don't get squished coming through the Portal. Signing off now, Good night

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2018 08:30

Heaven forfend you end up in Badley Fuckwitt - that's the country retreat of the dudey leftbros, isn't it?Shock

A portal to the Antipodes sounds like a good idea, and for those who like the idea of swimming and kayaking but not so sure about the 'bracing' part, it should work in both directions ...a twin village with a lake or beach and the HP-stocked library may be required.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 24/12/2018 09:02

Yes Errol, I shivered at the mere thought of Illy and others ending up at Badley FuckwittShock.

Over there there'll be Arrons gluten free biscuits muddled up with the normal ones.

Because they don't think.

WrathofRancidKlopp · 24/12/2018 09:11

Ooh thanks for tasty food from Oz and NZ.
Outshines my dull mince pies and sausage rolls by far.
I make them every year,
Every fucking year Grin

I confess I'm in a rut.

sackrifice · 24/12/2018 10:03

Also do cheesemaking, and breadmaking, and fermenting, and veg growing, and spreadsheets.

Also building, will bring my rather large collection of tools in a trailer, a rather large trailer.

teawamutu · 24/12/2018 10:24

I shall be starting my long-awaited, Adrian Mole-style novel, Longing for Badley Fuckitt.

ChattyLion · 24/12/2018 11:08

Badley, the portals, everyone’s creations and skills- it’s all sounding amazing. Glitterball

Arran You’ll find a bottle of quince brandy in a basket with a few other things outside the door of the sauna, that should sort you right out. Get well soon! Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2018 16:48

Anyone in the mood for a bit of singing?

goo.gl/images/8f5Aa1

(Slight quibble the second line isn't quite right because no one gives women these things)

arranbubonicplague · 24/12/2018 22:11

I've been reading about celebrating Christmas Eve as an act of resistance.

auschwitz.org/en/museum/news/christmas-eve-in-auschwitz-as-recalled-by-polish-prisoners,47.html

So, yes. I'm all in for a sing song, some festive celebrations, and pausing to remember testimonies that reveal extraordinary courage and the optimism that adversity will be overcome.

arranbubonicplague · 24/12/2018 23:33

I take it that BF has lots of convenient reading nooks and sleeping pods and somehow all of the covers and bedding are fresh and inviting. Grin

I'll be popping along to the Bluestocking soon for some mulled punch and even a tiny mince pie. Maybe a communal song? See some of you very soon.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2018 23:52

Definitely.

Oh no...I just heard DD go along the corridor to the loo, past her already filled stocking... before midnight!Shocknever mind that she's nearly 20

ErrolTheDragon · 25/12/2018 00:12

Happy XXMas Xmas Grin

WrathofRancidKlopp · 25/12/2018 00:15

And to you Errol
I see what you did there Xmas Grin
Happy xxmas to all
