Some simple ones:
Why am I not allowed to say no to this man because he says he's rich/important/an MP/a woman?
Why do I have to play along with someone? I might wish to be polite but I shouldn't be forced to be, especially to someone who I find rude.
Why are TPTB accusing parents of putting their children in danger by not affirming the trans status the children didn't even realise they had?
Why are dangerous men in women's prisons?
What is the GRA useful for - if as I read on Twitter earlier a man can get a driving licence and passport issued as F not M, why do we need a law to give him a legally false birth certificate too?
What rights do trans people lack? (Thread about this)
Why are the statistics being suppressed? (Attacks on TW are low, attacks on women in unisex facilities are higher, suicide stats are low, suicide rates for post-op adults are the same as pre-op, 80-95% of TW keep their penis and/or don't take oestrogen, 4000% increase in children claiming to be trans, majority are girls which is a reversal of the previous situation, etc)

SunnyintheSun · 17/10/2018 01:34

Maybe I’m having a bad day but I’m not even sure these drivers are really behind it. I think it’s just that men in power really don’t give a toss about women and children.

The trans movement allows men to indulge in cross-dressing etc without being gay (still, sadly, a no-no in certain powerful white male circles). It’s just men supporting each other in their fetishes. Stuff the women, children and old school transsexuals who are affected.

My MP is Harriet Baldwin, she of the endlessly noncommittal, carefully phrased replies to queries about anything, including this issue.

Floisme · 17/10/2018 07:21

I know the thread's moved on but I can't. I'm still at the, what-the-fucking-fuck stage.

Our MPs are scared to be seen with women. I haven't got the words to say what I think about that. Or how I feel about them. Or what I would like to say to them.

Hopefully the words will have come by the next election, when the fuckers will be at the door, wanting our votes.

Who would have believed that my political hero of 2018 would be a right wing backbench, Brexit supporting MP?

Anyway back to the thread.

TimeLady · 17/10/2018 07:43

I've been shocked by a lot of what's been discussed on FWR, but that's really got to me too. Who/ what are they actually scared of?

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 17/10/2018 10:13

I think a lot of them are 'just' worried about being painted by the transmob as transphobic and unable to counter the 'word salad' that they'll be faced with it f they try to explain the bleeding obvious (That TW not W)

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 17/10/2018 10:22

I can see your point, but MPs frequently have to meet truly awful people (I'm not saying GC campaigners are awful!), dictators, arms makers, people with dodgy religious or political beliefs ... the list goes on. They don't hide the fact they are meeting these people, they justify it by saying they need to for reasons of democracy, security, representation of their constituents.

Saudi Arabia are accused of murdering a journalist, politicians will still meet with Saudi representatives and find a way to justify it. Trump is a massive racist, homophobic misogynist, no one felt the need to pretend they hadn't met him.

They're hiding because they actually don't give a shit about women and girls (or transsexuals) and are more concerned with gaining woke points. Remember that when the next election rolls around!

TimeLady · 17/10/2018 10:25

If MPs are genuinely getting threatened, then I'd like to think that the police have been involved, rather than wasting their time investigating stickers .

Charliethefeminist · 17/10/2018 10:34

I think it's clear we have to write en masse to MPs and encourage others to do it, and they need to know there will be a groundswell of support when they finally speak up.

stillathing · 17/10/2018 11:35

What if one of the behind the scenes pushes for this was from an opportunistic Conservative group, well aware that the public was not going to buy it, who were letting the TRA agenda roll as far as possible in order for as many shocking things to come out as possible (Karen White, green party shenanigans, GGs etc) and was then going to enjoy the collapse of one or two very large charities which would ultimately save the government quite a lot of money?

merrymouse · 17/10/2018 11:53

I'm also going with Jeremy Hunt.

www.newscientist.com/article/dn22241-hail-jeremy-hunt-the-new-minister-for-magic/

Why believe in evidence based science when believing in 'woo' can be so much cheaper?

What is the point of funding the Tavistock when anyone can just Self ID anyway? So much cheaper not to 'medicalise' things.

Turph · 17/10/2018 11:53

stillathing so GRA reform collapses and Ruthie is out of a job? Sounds like a win-win to me. Stonewall sit on millions they do nothing with, they can pay her off with that.

arranfan · 17/10/2018 13:26

MPs rely on non-exec directorships etc. after they leave politics.

Given that most big firms are akin to Credit Suisse - I think their apprehension is that they are afraid of the people who won't offer them lucrative post-politics employment/deals.

R0wantrees · 27/06/2019 13:49

We never did find out which member of the cabinet threatened David Davies did we....?

Given the reshuffle & new leader of both Conservative Party & the country, this seems significant information!

Good point.

I was looking for something else & found this important thread!

OP posts:
FermatsTheorem · 27/06/2019 16:33

R0, I think we can fairly safely assume Hunt does not like women - he wants to cut the abortion limit to 12 weeks (says that's his personal view, but wouldn't seek to impose it as PM).

So I could well see him being the sort of Tory who thinks women are reducible to their sex-stereotypes, therefore TWAW (and any implications that might have for women can go hang, because who the hell cares about women's rights anyway?)

As you say, it would be very interesting to know.

Fucking hell - Hunt versus Johnson, what a fucking awful choice.

R0wantrees · 27/06/2019 16:42

R0, I think we can fairly safely assume Hunt does not like women

Likewise Johnson.

I wonder if David Davies will disclose at some point?

Did any MPs who were against gay marriage get the police called on them? Or were they allowed to hold their opinion no matter how distasteful some people found it?

Calling the police on someone because they want to keep the law as it currently is? The fuck? Confused

The misogyny of this entire thing is truly astounding and so obvious. Self ID will affect women's rights. Some people are so keen to erode those rights it seems they will go to further and further lengths to do so.
