why we are seeing an increase in tradwife type arguments on here

I am now keen on seeing those trad wife posts on MN Sex and Gender discussions board.

I must be reading the wrong threads? ??

I’ve seen them. Every comment that tells a poster that a baby’s mum knows best how to comfort a baby, that newborns only want their mum so it’s a bad idea to use shared parental leave instead of 100% maternity leave, that it’s “natural” that women seek security by looking for a man with money to have children with, that unplanned pregnancies = irresponsibility on the part of the woman in regards to contraception, etc

MsTSwift · 26/06/2022 10:10

So your argument us that only people with the same views as you are allowed to post on an internet discussion forum?!

No, I am saying that those arguments are not feminist, ie they do not promote the liberation of women from the patriarchy. Rather, they support the patriarchy. So, as a feminist, I am not keen on them. I’ve said nothing about anyone not being “allowed” to post things.

On this particular board?

And you have seen enough outside the thread mentioned in the post above yours, on this board ‘sex and gender’, to feel it has become worthy of mention? Or are you taking about the ‘chat’ board?

Yes, i have also seen posts that say that state support for childcare isn’t good (because it’s better for mums to stay at home) and ones saying that single parent families are inherently inferior to two-parent ones (not sure whether the two parents have to be a heterosexual couple but I’m guessing yes).

On this board. Over a prolonged period of time.

nor the photo of her having drinks in Manhattan with Brendan O’Neill

I don't think KJ or anyone has made any secret of talking to Brendan O'Neill so no need for your exclusive scoop Grin She's interviewed him and vice versa. I met him at one of her events myself. He gave a brilliant talk, I don't have to agree with him on anything else to appreciate that. He was also getting argued with quite strongly about prostitution and porn by radfems at the drinks after the event. I think he has gone on a journey with this and he gets issues for women much better now.

He's an contrarian media commentator who disagrees with a lot of leftist politics, like Douglas Murray or similar, not hard far right.

GCAndProud

Ok. I have not been interested enough to open that thread. But outside that thread?

Because I feel like I am missing something here if it is such a big issue that it is now being used as a comparator between ‘Trad wives and adherents to KJK campaigning style’.

I didn’t say Brendan O’Neill was “hard far right”
But he’s yet another right wing person associated with KJK that supports my opinion she is right wing herself.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 10:26

Yes, I did not mention one thing that was awful because I didn’t have evidence as to who coined the term “Black Pampers” to mock the TRAs in black & masks. Although I don’t know who came up with it, I do know that Posie Parker uses that term often as if it isn’t offensive and has been videoed cheering on a GC activist dressed as a “Black Pamper” in a black body suit and wearing an adult diaper.

She didn't come up with the term, it was people on Twitter where she is banned, and it's only happened once so what you are talking about is her reacting as it hapoened. It was a misjudged attempt by Mr Menno to be funny and mock the faux antifa, not blackface. The furore about it was stirred up after. She's not responsible for him.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 10:28

You didn't, but I felt your breathless expose of her meeting him (which no one has ever made any secret of) implied it.

Just clarifying for others.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 26/06/2022 10:30

I always thought (obviously wrongly) that you had

far left…left wing…left….centerist….right…right wing….far right

so no wonder I’m confused 😀

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 10:30

"Talcum X" is another favourite here to describe Owen Jones who is white.

That is a term Julie Bindel uses. There's a white man in the US who Americans use the same term for.

Thank you for clarifying who came up with it. She is partially responsible for him though as she was actively cheering him on. She is looked up to and viewed as a leader by many GC activists so her public approval of his actions carries weight. If he’d popped out and she had not cheered but gone up and asked him to take the costume off and leave, then I’d agree she is not at all responsible. And given her leadership position, he would have not made repeat appearances like he has done. But she did not, she signalled her approval to her followers by publicly cheering him on…every time he appeared while she was also present.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 10:34

When has he made "repeat appearances" after it was criticised online?

There’s a recent one on whether the sexual revolution was bad for women. I’m sure you will be able to find it. Basic premise: marriage is good and protective and things were better in the past when men had to do the honourable thing. Lots of posts on there about what is natural and what women want.

Threads like that often get posters who don't normally post in FWR when it pops up in active threads. Often they aren't aware which topic they are posting in.

It was unmistakably blackface.

No, I don't believe that was "unmistakably" the intention. I can understand why it was perceived that way, but I don't think he's a racist. Unless you have any other evidence of that?

Then they also are disrespectful.

Again, I can understand why people find it offensive, but it's clearly taking the piss out of Jones/the American guy, not Malcolm X.

There are regulars and there are visitors. People post goady stuff, and people post things that attract others. I don't think this is an issue. Post on the threads you want to, report trolling, engage or don't on the ones you don't agree with.
