Antifeminist movement...

Spinflight · 21/08/2018 13:52

Seems to be gathering pace, faster than any other movement that I can recall..

Red Pill, MRAs, blogs and youtube channels seem to be springing up aplenty.

Can we put all of this down to misogyny or admit some failings of feminist thought?

Am I the only woman in the world who doesn't like nuts or chocolate?

Really?

UpstartCrow · 22/08/2018 16:27

How do you feel about nuts and chocolate?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/08/2018 17:01
  • Am I the only woman in the world who doesn't like nuts or chocolate?

Yes, just you. There may be some unhappy women who are allergic to them of course, that's different.

Correctamundo.

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 17:08

Yeucht. I hate them both, separately, or together.

I think I must be a man.....

Although men like nuts, don't they?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/08/2018 17:16

AFAIK men also like chocolate and/or nuts.

Don't worry - our feminism is inclusive of people with different food preferences. (Though if anyone says they don't like cake they may be stretching our tolerance)

Tartle · 22/08/2018 17:21

Do you use good quality rum/vodka for these things or is the own brand stuff ok?

How long does it last?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/08/2018 17:28

How long does it last?

Sounds like the sort of thing that would be consumed long before shelf life became relevant!

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 18:37

Errol

I don't like cake either

I'm so sorry. I'll get my coat...

Racecardriver · 22/08/2018 18:48

I'm not a feminist. It's not because I don't believe that the sexes should be equal and please don't try to tell me what I believe. It's firstly because I have sons and I don't want the future to be female. I don't like a lot of feminist rhetoric and I don't like that it OK to say things like that. It is also because I feel that a lot of popular fenenust policies are stupid. Like positive discrimination fir women. Instead of dealing with the prejudice against women or the inequality between men and women that results in su standard female applicants it just covers up the problem. But first and foremost it us because the presumption the both sexes can have equal rights by only campaigning and developing women's rights is flawed. Fundamentally equal means equal not women get to keep the traditional rights and social benefits of being a woman while getting everything the men get but the men aren't important and don't get anymore than they have. A good example of this is equal distribution if childcare between parents. Women have been granted more rights in the work place and a wider social acceptance of working mothers yet the vast majority of families it is the mither that takes career breaks to care for young children. To a certain extent it us because women are still unfairly expected to but it is also because men struggle to do it because it is much harder both in the workplace and outside it if you are man who takes time off to care f I r children than if you are a woman who dies it. Until we deal with the social and professional prejudice against SAHD we won't have equality on that front. Men's rights matter too and not just for men. Not surprising considering that the majority of women live a large portion of their lives with a male partner.

I don't know about antifeninism. But fenenust rhetoric and policy is often either stupid or alienating or both. I think that femenists need to address the problems in their own ranks ASAP. It would be nice to actually be able to call myself a femenists instead of constantly having to explain myself when asked.

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 19:22

Okay, I'll bite. On ginger biscuits. I like ginger biscuits.

Yambabe · 22/08/2018 19:24

Hi Tartle supermarket own-brand is fine for making most flavoured drinks.

For adding to haribos a slightly better quality one works better.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/08/2018 19:27

Okay, I'll bite. On ginger biscuits. I like ginger biscuits.

Whew. Good enough!Grin

Feminists do not view women behaving like people to be a problem in their own ranks, so don't hold your breath.

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 19:44

But you can call yourself a feminist, whether you are one or not. Self ID. You can call yourself anything you darn well like! Go ahead, we won't judge.

FloralBunting · 22/08/2018 20:01

sociopathsunited, nah, I kind of think we will...Grin

Socrates11 · 22/08/2018 20:18

The drinks ideas in this thread are bloody awesome, glad I persevered through some frankly dodgy breakfast practices! 😂

*Racecardriver I don't think feminism is just about equality, although legal/political/educational equality in society has long been pushed for by feminists. Liberation was/is the bigger overall aim, freedom for women from restrictive roles, stereotypes and expectations. This also works in men's favour if they choose to see.

LangCleg · 22/08/2018 20:27

I haven't got anything to hand to bite on. Bugger.

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 20:29

I'm now on the jelly babies. Pudding!

Beamur · 22/08/2018 20:55

A fairer balance between the sexes, call it equality if you want, benefits both women and men.
I'm typing one handed with a cat on my shoulder and can't be fussed to look it up, but there have been studies/surveys etc, that show men and women are happier and more content in societies that value women and place equality highly.

arranfan · 22/08/2018 20:56

Okay, I'll bite. On ginger biscuits. I like ginger biscuits.

May I recommend Alice Medrich's recipe - available in Screaming and more moderate recipe versions.

Wrathofjurgenklop · 22/08/2018 20:57

Chocolate and nut combo?

I like chocolate and I like nuts.
I don't like chocolate and nuts together.

I like chocolate and I like donuts, but I don't like chocolate donuts.

What am I like Grin

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 22/08/2018 20:57

We're not telling you what to believe. We like to keep that position open for the young and ignorant. It's nice for them to have something to do on the holidays.

If you have left-over vodka, you can make your own vanilla essence.

sociopathsunited · 22/08/2018 21:00

arranfan you wicked wicked wicked person...those look bloody marvellous, I'm going to get fat(ter) and it will be all your fault!. I hope you're happy.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 22/08/2018 21:35

You utter, utter meanies. Talking about Weetabix as if gluten based cereals are the norm and that anyone who hates the ruddy stuff, it's like eating a loofah might for whatever reason have to have a donut for breakfast instead is not the same! You healthy breakfast exclusives! Hebes the lot of you. Evil Hebes.

I'm sat here eating ginger nuts with peanut butter and it's all your fault.
